Did you turn of the Hybrid mode on the Legion 7 to disable optimus for fps gain? The gigabyte G5 doesn't have it so out of the box without connecting to external monitor, the different between these two should be bigger, especially in esport title where MUX is needed the most
Should have put the newer G5 with i5-11400H RTX 3060 up for comparison with Legion 7I instead. This is like a beefed up entry level gaming model against mid range gaming model. The price difference is big enough in certain countries that Legion isn't good enough for few hundred bucks more. Actually I have a hard time finding any Legion in my country. That G5 still a bargain compared to Legion which I'd find to be a bit overpriced even more so than ASUS TUF models.
Great video as always. Did you use an external monitor for the Gigabyte G5?. I think in the cpu demanding games is where the Legion has a higher FPS than the G5, I've always thought that G5 has a little bottleneck in 1080p for the 10500h. Hopefully you can test both laptops at 1440p, that will be very interesting comparation cause you avoid the bottleneck caused by 10500h at 1080p and get dissable optimus in the G5
@Sebastian Rodriguez I used laptop display for the G5. I dont think that the i5-10500H is bottelcking the 3060 since it's a 6/12 threads cpu but i will try to do test at 1440p too.
@@LOWFPSGamingBenchmark I think only in 1080p the 10500h cuase a little bottlenecking in the 3060. I did a test in Witcher 3 at low settings in 1440p and 1080p and I can get almost the same FPS in both resolutions. Then I concluded a little bottleneck in full HD caused by the CPU, or maybe is not to powerfull CPU. In certain AAA modern games the CPU usage is to high, almost 80% or sometimes more. But I still think that the G5 it's a great high value option for it's price. By the way, recently a tutorial for undervolting CPU in G5 was uploaded to RUclips, you can try if you want cooler tempeture for CPU, I did the undervolt and I'm very happy with the results.

i got a fresh 11800H laptop with 130W 3060 with a sell out discount and i have to say that you should consider to test esports and CPU intensive games, these all are GPU intensive and the difference is not too big. In CS:GO or League of legends it would be around 40 percent FPS diff.
in both of those games the 3060 is going to be well beyond the refresh rate of most laptop screens making the increased performance largely wasted. It's fine for epeen measuring, but in reality nobody is actually going to notice the difference beyond the 1% lows in a select few games.
@@b-rant thats not true at all, in both games the FPS count is equal to the number which can CPU deliver, GPU is utilized at 50-60 percent And in csgo you need 300+ fps, otherwise the lower fps is limiting your performance. League of legends the same, in teamfights it drops below 200fps evenat high end rigs. Refresh rate of the display is irrelevant, the fps count also affects the input delay so you need high fps number.

Tho if the price is like 300 more then maybe just a laptop cooler is a better option for the i5 laptop from gigabyte
@dane beee No, to disable optimus you have to use external monitor. But legion laptop also have a slow RAM 1RX16 if you upgrade ram for the legion and disable optimus for G5 the final results wont change.
Why is it not reaching 105watts i think g5 not in performance mode, both optimus should be off for fair fight? I have my g5 connected to usb c displayport but i have almost the performance if not greater than the legion.
