I'm listening to this music for more than 10 years and I imagine how the Darvish was so lost in the beginning and then he found the god and become happy and spread his happiness to the world ...... so original and authentic piece of music
Had the opportunity to see Omar Faruk Tekbilek perform this song live in Downtown Los Angeles at a free concert. It was one of the coolest most memorable musical experiences in my life, next to David Bowie and Ravi Shankar!
This is Jehan from Egypt, the sight of the whirling dervishes just enchants me and put me in this peaceful relaxing mood and makes travel into another world, thanku

Very Melodious, Amazing, Hypnotising, Mesmerising, Spiritual & Soulfull Music, which could make our heart & mind meet with the other Dimension of the Universe!...

Can someone point me to the Ilahiler/Nefesler being referenced here? I know the Husseyni one (07:12), but not the Uşşak (06:50) nor the Hicaz ones (01:57, ~04:30).
I love listening to this music its soothing. I have a quick question do they ever get dizzy? sorry I'm not of this faith but its very interesting and I love it. :)
Good evening Wendy, a very good question and nothing to sorry about, i am glad you enjoy the music i have enjoyed from a very early age, the men you see have been training from childhood and actually in a state of trance and go on in that state for hours without getting dizzy, the Sufi school of thought has both a religious and esoteric side and both are very much along the lines of oneness with nature and our surroundings and more if a personal relationships with God, another aspect is love for oneself and everything around us, if you wish to learn more then I'd suggest you lookup the writings of Rumi the translations are available in many languages with the original in Persian (Farsi) as you read the works of Rumi you'll be able to see the influence his work has on people like Depak Choopra to name one, anytimeyou have a question about this topic I'd like you to feel free to contact me and in the meantime I wish you all the best and peace in your life.
My dear Wendy, a person once said to me she had watched a whirling dervish show live. She said, "It was great but a bit lengthy". I replied, "maybe too long for you but to them, nowhere near long enough". The answer to your question about them getting dizzy is there. God bless. :)
Scott behold the complexity of anatolian and Middle-East-Nations :) But as a graduate of a music faculty I assure you that especially the "Ney" is not turkish. Cheers
