Though she started singing, and still does, in the church, she sings every kind of genre outside of the church. Her 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' from KBS TV is one of the greatest live performances by any singer ever. And for the flip of the power belting, there is a new song just released from her busking in Spain called 'Angel'. Another of her greatest live performances is 'I Have Nothing' from the DMC Festival. It may be the best version of the song ever performed. The journey through her music still is growing as she put out an album recently, and has several busking videos from the Covid times and from Spain this past summer. We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages: Korean, English, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading French and Greek! She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. I'm 86 and have heard a lot of music and, to me, this is the most epic performance, man or woman, that I have ever heard, even after 100+ times watching it! So Hyang is a humble genius, singer, song writer, author, teacher, multilingual and so much more yet she is now out busking in Europe, performing directly for those small audiences, and bringing them comfort, as when she sang "In The Arms of the Angels" while sitting next to a random person she asked to help hold her song book. Her life is worth all the research one can do! We are truly blessed to have one such as So Hyang among us!
Should I call you Waylon? You have an extra quality as a reactor because you participate in the flow of the music, so I was glad that you found this video and have seen Sohyang perform. I said 'have seen' because, in order to understand Sohyang, you must SEE her sing. She is deeply religious, a Gospel singer from her roots, and this IS her Cornerstone performance. It is a Sermon from the sweetest preacher you ever heard. That Acapella section was exquisite, perfect - she spoke to us, Everyone, and THEN, that last minute of the performance is the essence of pure JOY. Only Sohyang can do this. She is beauty, grace, power - of voice, and of person. When she soars straight onto those high notes, holds them, and then unleashes that shimmering Vibrato, it is like nothing you've ever heard . . . . I'm 86 and have heard a lot of music and, to me, this is the most epic performance, man or woman, that I have ever heard, even after 100+ times watching it!
So Hyang is a humble genius, singer, song writer, author, teacher, multilingual and so much more yet she is now out busking in Europe, performing directly for those small audiences, and bringing them comfort, as when she sang "In The Arms of the Angels" while sitting next to a random person she asked to help hold her song book.
Her life is worth all the research one can do! We are truly blessed to have one such as So Hyang among us!

Should I call you Waylon? You have an extra quality as a reactor because you participate in the flow of the music, so I was glad that you found this video and have seen Sohyang perform. I said 'have seen' because, in order to understand Sohyang, you must SEE her sing. She is deeply religious, a Gospel singer from her roots, and this IS her Cornerstone performance. It is a Sermon from the sweetest preacher you ever heard. That Acapella section was exquisite, perfect - she spoke to us, Everyone, and THEN, that last minute of the performance is the essence of pure JOY. Only Sohyang can do this. She is beauty, grace, power - of voice, and of person. When she soars straight onto those high notes, holds them, and then unleashes that shimmering Vibrato, it is like nothing you've ever heard . . . .
Sorry about gushing, but Sohyang IS the finest of Sopranos and very likely the finest person on the planet.
