Can someone please call 911! I'm having another heart-a-yak! Just when I think I have recovered from the previous video and think there's nothing more he can do! He brings it to another magnificent level. It's ingenious, thoughtful, inspirational, professional and magnificent. There's a new word definition for this level of craftmanship... Zoffinger! Now he says there's another video coming. Thanks for the warning. .. I'll know to get checked into the clinic beforehand. Marty, this is incredible. You have gone way beyond and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you so much!
Awesome Job Marty, I am sure everyone one of us will re-watch this series over and over and copy every thing you did..Love it..those pontoons put all of ours to shame time for me to make some new ones....
Marty back at it again with the DIY! I've seen this kayak in person and it exceeded my expectations. The seat was super comfortable and the work he's done to the yak is magnificent. I would hope kayak companies view these videos and would give Marty a chance to "Pimp a Yak".
man you are awesome. I'm an artist myself and I love sculpting. I work a lot in clay. but watching you customize this kayak is just so inspiring. it's awork of art. great job man. love your channel. I'm hoping to move to Florida one day, it's on my bucket list. have a great week.
Marty I wouldn't be suprised if i walk through Acadamy next year and find all of your innovations on their latest models. I sometimes help with Heros on the water and have met several veterans that would definitely benifit from your desing. You sir are a true craftsman; a bit lax on the safety side for my taste but a great builder non the less. Keep the videos coming I don't miss a single one!
Oh my god Marty I was so into the video for the fishing part of the meet and greet and then it was the end of the video lol keep it up man I love your videos
I had a great time talking and listening to you at the meet and fish! Unfortunately I flipped my kayak when a speeding boat went by and lost all my rods, wallet, phone, etc... also because of my loss I will miss out on the H.O.W. event on Oct. 1. But it was worth it to get to meet and talk! I will be modifying my kayak before any more trips. So maybe next spring will be better!! (after pontoons and seat!)
Marty, love watching your videos!!! Been looking into kayaks for years now, came close to buying one but life called and that had to wait but getting close to FINALLY buying my first kayak at age 39 :) can't wait to get on the water! You're less than 4 hours away from me, would be cool to fish together someday. Keep up the good work!
Marty, your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. Entertaining video. I'm planning a Yak trip to Clearwater/ Tampa area, do you have any recommendations for intercoastal day trips?
Great video. Some tips from fiberglass enthusiast: Epoxy resin will not melt the styrofoam and puts off less fumes. Recommend 3 or 4 layers of the glass that you are using. Laminate resin, then sanding resin on top. One sand job and one layer of sanding resin to finish it off. Should not need 20 layers of resin (too heavy). Keep in mind that sanding resin should not be applied on top of another layer of sanding resin unless thoroughly sanded.
I thoroughly enjoy your episodes and look forward to them daily. Sounds like you are headed toward a lifestyle I envisioned 35 years ago, only difference, I was married. Be careful, the main purpose for women is to change men to their liking.... and they have devious ways to do it.
For smaller projects like pontoons you may want to try a pneumatic palm DA sander if you're so equipped. It won't eliminate the need for hand sanding, but it will make short work of sanding. Proper respirator is a must as well as a paper suit.
I used to build large Shrimp tanks out of a Styrofoam Material down in Fla in the 90s , it came in 4'×8' sheets which could be bought 1" all the way up to 6" thick and the fiberglass & resin could be applied directly The Company I worked for used to ship Jumbo Shrimp Live from Florida to Manhattan And California We used to bring the shrimp temp down to almost Hypothermia temps while shipping my boss would never tell us What the water coolers temp were and they would be Shipped live by air all over the United states and put into Tanks in very expensive restaurants, They would come back to life My boss was the only person doing this and was a Multi Millionaire from doing this Great video..Just subscribed, ps I think the material could be ordered from Home Depot or Lows, I don't remember which one
love it how you eyeball everything. I do the same thing. people will ask me what the measurements are on something and I have no idea. I just made it fit. lol.
Hey Marty, I bet you'll miss your workshop once you go and live on the boat. ;) You'll miss not being able to tinker, unless of course, you hire a U-Store it shed and keep IT as your workshop.
Marty. How are you going to do these creative DIYs when you transition to boat life and give up the house? Does the Marine have a workshop you can use?
You should try using a roller next time to get the air bubbles out before it set up it makes the fairing process easier and makes a stronger part. you can also put wax paper over the glass before it cures and then use a dry plastic spreader to to work out the air bubbles. like videos you have some good ideas. Cheers!
You are a freaking genus. Why don't you start a business doing custom kayaks and accessories like this? You could make a fortune off the ideas you have!
Would love to have one of your kayaks.i am 63 with 13 screws and 2 rods in my back and would need some thing like this kayak to help hold me and stabilize me.

Marty, you could be the swiss army knife kayak maker! He ought really like it when you are done!
