  • This video is for informational purposes only. This is my review of the Mr. Heater Natural Gas 40,000 BTU Radiant Heater. I discuss pros and cons of the heater and my opinion of it with start up instructions towards the end of the video. If you purchase and install a radiant heater, or any heater, be sure to adhere to the installation instructions and recommended clearance distances from combustible materials that the manufacturer suggests. In this video i am only showing how i installed my heater and do not suggest anyone installing their heater as close to combustible materials as i did.

Thanks for this review, I will be putting up two of these heaters in my 24x36 metal garage. I have it insulated so hopefully I won’t have a condensation issue.

Does this heater product alot of moisture? I have a convection style heater in my shop right now, and it keeps the humidity hovering around 70%! Looking for a different style of heating with natural gas

It does produce moisture, the windows on the doors do condensate when it’s been on for a bit but it’s not too much in my opinion. I’m not sure you can get away from the moisture issue with a natural gas or propane radiant heater, you might have to do to forced air furnace. Like i said it doesn’t bother me, I’m usually just working on a car or something.

I've read that this was something like 99% efficient which is hard to believe! Do you see a big difference in your gas bill when you use it frequently?
Thanks in advance and I appreciate the video!

Hi, and thanks for the response. The heater is 99% efficient because all of the gas it burns is indeed converted into heat through infrared radiation, and the rest of the heat rises off the top and into the room which is why i have the fan in the attic to blow the heat back down. I haven’t noticed too much of a difference in our gas bill as i only use it occasionally, there are calculations you can do to see how much it would cost to operate in your particular situation. There is indeed no electric power needed for the unit to operate, it has a pilot light that you light with a lighter just like an older style hot water tank. It’ll stay lit as the thermostat cycles the heat on and off according to the thermostat setting. This is a great heater, it’s in the 20’s outside here in northern Ohio and I’m working on my car in the garage and it is a comfortable 65 degrees inside. Thanks for watching and good luck with whatever heater you decide on.

@@LoFiMofo I appreciate the information. This sounds like a great option over a traditional furnace for a shop. Now to run the gas lines. Thanks!

How many days before the tank runs out

My heater is natural gas, we don’t have a tank. Not sure how many hours the propane version will run in a full propane tank.

Appreciate it. I always find it funny that people go to RUclips for information and then the trolls come out to say it’s too much information. 😆

Be careful using an unvented unit without a carbon monoxide detector. Id suggest a vented tube heater, less chance of a fire above it.

You talk way too much about nothing. I have this unit, and skipped you talking for 13 minutes to find sensible information. Keep the chatter to a minimum

Interesting. I checked your channel (zero videos) to see how much you chatter but couldn’t find anything, it has nothing of substance just like yourself.
