Great video Sir, thank you. The Apache's in Afghanistan used to ask the chinooks to slow down as they couldn't keep up. Guess having two huge engines and rotors may have helped the flying brick get so fast. I love flying the Miltech CH-47D. Thank you. 🖖
Thank you! I believe it, it takes forever to get anywhere flying the Apache in DCS haha, it can only cruise about 110 to 120 knots. This Chinook is a Fast Boi!
Thanks! Me too. The reason just comes down to muscle memory on the controls since I fly a lot of different type of aircraft, I'd change it if I get the ka50 collective from winwing though.
Once again, glad I stumbled on your channel. I just ordered a set of WinWing Orion rudder pedals - primarily for use with helos (tired of the stick twist option). I sent one of your videos to a buddy who doesn't do any sims, but he's now (jokingly) pushing me towards building a complete sim setup vs. just using my desktop PC (although with the LG 42 Flex and Tobii eye tracker it works pretty darn good). However, I do have an unused spare bedroom. 🙂 I could see a triple Samsung Odyssey Ark (55" mini-LED) screen option as being incredibly immersive. Pretty costly though. On a different note, have you tried other back light color options vs. green? I think a nice medium to dark blue would work pretty well for you, but what works best for you is what works best...
That's awesome those WinWing rudder pedals look amazing, im excited for you! I wanted to pick them up but I couldn't justify it yet since the turtle beach pedals have been pretty good so far. I'm not opposed to changing colors around I have just used green since the WinWing stuff has green backlighting and most military aircraft have green interior lighting so it has a nice ambiance.
Hi there-nice set up Sir.Just a few questions about your set up.Regarding your POV camera where have you got that camera mounted looks like you have got that on your head?I take it you have got your sim set up in your own special room by the looks of it?How did you go about doing those outside POV video recordings for when you were doing those maneuvers ? Just interested as I've got a 3 screen monitor set up as well for my msfs flight simulation although I have got three 40 Inch Titan Army monitors mounted to a table .Kind regards from New Zealand.
Thanks for the comment! Yup I just have the camera on a headstrap I'm sure I look pretty nerdy with it on haha. I record my flights with sky dolly and when I watch the replay back with skydolly I just manipulate the camera using an Xbox controller while I record with OBS then I edit it in with my footage from my head cam footage.
Nice vid, but i have to disagree with the comments about the sounds. I did many insertions and extractions in the Chooks in several theatres, and these sounds are a pretty poor representation. I bought this as it has significance for me, but I'm disappointed. I hope Miltech improve on this.
Agree mate, I was stationed at RAF Odiham in the early 90's and worked on the Chinooks. Exterior and interior sounds are off, hopefully they will improve them down the line 👍
Thanks I appreciate the comments! It cool to hear from people who were actually around the Chinook. Being in the Air Force I was never around the Chinook so from an outsiders perspective it sounded ok but I hope they do improve it then, I know how it feels when the jet sounds in the game aren't accurate haha.
As a Chinook Pilot I have to agree with ya. They got kinda close with the sounds, but didn't quite nail it. Not nearly enough transmission wine and they could've added some dynamics here and there, especially for an increase in blade-slap as the aircraft decels.
Amazing setup! Looking to buying one myself, is your hotas the winwing f16ex and is your throttle the f15ex? If not if you don't mind, could you list your setup. Thank you!
Yeah I have ditch the 3 50inc monitors to VR ... Its a game breaker for me , Even with TrackIr 5 Also yeah its nice but it required more love for the Sound , So Hopefully it will get Updated
Thanks for the comment! I have vr but i get really motion sick with vr in flight Sims so that's why I went triples. Yup hopefully they'll refine and update it, I'm sure they will.
Sorry but its a bad presentation, prefer to see something from monitor, not the half of room ... 😑The image has distorted proportions also due to the fish-eye technique used in this case. My advice, this room's perspective is only good at the beginning, e.g. for the first 10-20 seconds, then the 2D image from the monitor is much better according me. Regards!
Thanks for your comment! I appreciate your perspective but the POV is sort of my thing, although i do edit in "2D" cuts in exciting moments. I don't want to be like everyone else! Channels that inspired me to do it this way are like Project Sim Racing, Boosted Media, and Dave Cam but they all specialize in racing Sims and are very successful, I'm filling that niche but for flightsim.
Unfortunately it is a very, very poor simulation, physics and systems are very bad, just have a look at a review on here from an actual Chinook pilot, sad because Xplane has a better version but I suppose it is to be expected.
They did a superb job with the sound. That can make or break the sim experience.
Agreed! Thanks for the comment!

I forgot to comment on this video when I originally watched it. Great video!! I like your printed out checklist.
Haha thanks I appreciate the comment glad you enjoyed it! Ya I wanna get a pilot kneeboard for checklists and stuff.
Awesome video! Can't wait for this baby in DCS. Interesting that you didn't invert your collective for a chopper :)

wow, amazing rig
Thanks! I appreciate it!
@@CrewChiefThreeSix you're welcome

@tonyf9076 Hello mate. I was ferried around by 7 Sqn for a few years. Crazy fellas lol
@@dougalmctavish3882they were the sensible ones....now 18 Sqn on the other hand, well 😂

Thanks! Yup thats the hotas I'm using I actually have a full list of my setup in the description of this video.
@@CrewChiefThreeSix Alright thanks so much!
Nice video! You can leave the EAPS switches, they're not fitted on this one.
Thank you! Ya unfortunately though when you don't throw those switches you get icaw lights on the warning and caution panel that are annoying.
I downloaded it last night so will have a play this week sometime @@CrewChiefThreeSix
Haven't heard of bezel tape ??
You mean the asus bezel free rog kit, they're not tape and yes they're on the list of items to get.

@@CrewChiefThreeSix I think the pov type of video is pretty solid for me at least! made me want to buy the helo that much more.
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!
It’s also to see the controls
I actually enjoyed how you recorded this video. Something fresh!

Thanks for the comment! Regardless of those points I still have a blast flying it in my rig!
