"Seth Boyden Terrace". Sounds beautiful. A "terrace". Were built in 1940. Newark had a housing shortage then, even before vets started coming home from World War II. Then it got worse. When I was a kid they were called the Dayton Street projects. They were very close to Weequahic Park though, but on the wrong side. Did you know that they used to have housing in Weequahic Park in old army barracks for veterans? I hear they are going to build film studios next on the Seth Boyden space.
@Matt DV, You walking through my stomping ground being back great memories. I use to live in Sethboyden Terrace in the early 80's with My Mother, My Sister, My Favorite Aunt and My Cousin at 141 Sethboyden Terrace and then in the mid 80's My Mother was blessed with her own apartment at 139 Sethboyden from 1986 to 1990 and after that We all moved out into Our Own Apartments in Sethboyden Terrace and I had my apartment in 127 Sethboyden Terrace and My Mother had her own apartment in 123 Sethboyden Terrace from 1990 to 1996. When I used to live down in Sethboyden Terrace I had a lot fun with my crew and we all would go shopping for some clothes and some new shoes or sneakers for the Club on the weekend. My Crew and I use to rock at Club Sensations and Club Zanzibar back in the days. We also use to go to movies in the net and things back then was safe, carefree and fun. There's was nothing but unity back in the days and I sure do miss that now. REAL TALK‼️💯💪 Matt DV Thank you for the stroll down memory lane. I appreciate it and I appreciate You too. Have Yourself a nice, safe and above all a Blessed day, evening and Labor Day Holiday Weekend too. 🇺🇲🙏❤️🤗🙌💯
this is where i worked and lived for 25 years of my life and the changes i see on that avenue it just rolled from populated to empty. There used to be some good food around.
That community used to thrive back in the day its an apocalypse now until they start that project of building a film studio where them projects used to be southward strong. I left there in the early 90's
Hey Matt, pray your doing well. Oh I'm so so sorry abt your Truck. I hit a deer my car was totally gone. That hurt. Is Martland Medical car still there in Newark or have they changed the name.
Hi Matt. I actually live close to Seth Boyden. I'm a bit more south closer to Elizabeth where Twin City supermarket is located. I'm interested in seeing what the city is going to do with all that empty space. They left those buildings vacant for so many years. If you go about a mile south on Frelinghuysen close to the Elizabeth border they're already building up new construction. Yeah that part of Frelinghuysen Ave near Seth Boyden is very desolate and have been desolate every since they evacuated all the residents out of Seth Boyden. A lot of those stores have closed down. Now that Seth Boyden is gone the majority of people out there are people from those senior citizen buildings. Very desolate part of the city, especially at night.
@MattDV Oh ok. Thanks for the information. I think a shopping center with restaurants and a grocery store would be better for the current residents because there aren't many of those in that area but I think the idea behind the theater is to draw in people from the surrounding neighborhoods for them to spend money at the theater, which I understand. It's all about bringing in profits and revenue for the city. Thanks for the live, Matt.
Matt dv I ate lunch at a place that you definitely should try the place is called The Habit in Teterboro nj address is 3 Teterboro landing its across the parking lot of walmart there's a few spots there to eat .but I ate a chicken salad at The Habit they take card or cash and have a patio you can eat your food if you don't want to stay indoors
I love real skin on my potatoes, french fries that are fried crispy and add pepper and dash of salt it's good, the fried chicken looks good, as well as the fish at that cookout Sunday looked good . GENTRIFICATION IN NEWARK, it will never be the same, have a blessed day 🤗
Demetriiiiii, i remember this catch like yesterday.... This catch was so captivating and riveting, clear as day his brother did it, and his family is shit... Demetri clear black sheep of the family and they're more than willing to throw him under the bus
Dang so that's considered a grocery store I guess huh? Where you got the chicken. They got everything in there. Taking all them people EBT benefits and no real food in there. Sad. All processed...smh
