I’ve got to be honest. This video makes the entire gambit feel extremely disingenuous. I get that this is your job, but selling over half the collection without even trying 90% of them just weeks after completing the collection gives off the vibe that you didn’t even care about finding all of these, but instead that you cared about the views it gave you. I get not wanting to horde games you’ll never play, but then don’t spend months hunting them down for clicks on your channel just to get rid of them.
I think people are upset because you are selling these games so soon after completing the GameCube gambit. We were under the impression that you bought these games because you missed out on the GameCube experience during your childhood. We would have liked to see you spend some time playing the games and reviewing them, telling us why you are selling the ones you don't like.

The amount of robbery that I’v seen this guy get but then again a lot of the vendors he went to just cave in…. Except for Torrez dude was solid on his 1600$ Pokémon box
Yeah the "childhood collection of his dreams" so much fake for cash 🤡 Thanks for inflating the gamecube games in the process and making it harder for everyone who actually wants to build a collection
yeah i think we've also seen how much he played the games too, he did like 4 like 30 second reviews, so this whole thing feels like a waste of 8 months, well not for him
You guys probably won’t like this take but this is the problem I have with resellers. They’re so driven by money that they’re willing to do something like sell a collection that they just built (and had the help of some very generous viewers!!) for a little bit more profit.
Imagine telling your subscribers that you are buying the "GameCube collection of your childhood" just to immediately sell majority of it off and then pretend that anyone who questions it isn't a "true fan." 🤔 Starting to think this guy is purely about profit and trying to cash in on the craze of game hunting and people's nostalgia, which is fine, but when you do stuff like this, it's just slimy and to strut around saying you don't care is also gross.
Completely agreed. That was supposed to be “gamecube collection of his childhood dreams”. My ass😂 people like him destroy gaming and the reason we actually collect and play games.
The worst part is he framed it that way and bought these games from people who believed that was his motivation, including fans of the channel. What a kick in the face to people that actually enjoy his content(I'm not one of them).
He finished the "collection of his childhood dreams" and sells off half of it immediately? Kind of heart broken tbh. At least try them all. The prices will probably go up in the future if you wait to sell too
Yours to sell! But I feel you've just totally destroyed the concept for future iterations. It's not clear why you pursued those games in the first place if you didn't think it's worth keeping. You certainly gave the impression these were to keep long term.
I don't have a problem with you selling the games you don't want, I do it all the time. What I do have a problem with is hyping up this grind to build this collection only to literally sell a majority of it off right as you got done with it, implying that you bought a lot of these just to resell. I get it, it's part of the business too. I'm not saying you're a fake gamer or anything like that, but let's call a spade a spade here with what the real intention was behind this.
Honestly if that was his intention, most of the games he bought he only bought at like a 10-15% difference of full value. I dont think he bought this collection to resell, in fact I'll bet he'll barely the 10-15% difference. But it is annoying he's selling IMMEDIATELY after fulfilling this collection. I think many of us had this impression maybe he'd review some of the games or give his opinion before selling more than half the collection. But it is his collection. I think he just has fun collecting and he's now getting rid of games he honestly doesn't think he'll shove in his gamecube ever.
It’s also good content to make more money on RUclips lol, using the hobby to make money, he’s smart for it I’ll give him that. It is pretty scummy to me though lol
Selling them so soon is kinda bs. I get you’re a reseller and I get that you need to generate an income but I - along with many others - thought this was going to be a collection you would keep. You had so many people reach out to you and give you games from themselves with the intention that they contributed to such a cool idea, for you to go and sell it from underneath them. I think you should keep the collection because it helped your channel grow and it’s a huge journey you went on. A new house is a scary time but with something a meaningful as this, you’d think you’d wanna hold onto it for just a little longer.
@@drousuh6903 Yeah as i said in my comment, a lot of deals he got on some of the more expensive titles he said things like "come on its going into a collection" or that it was going to be in "good hands" you know, telling the person "Yeah i want you to sell me this game even cheaper, on the promise i won't resell it" these people sold them, under the impression they would be kept in his collection for years to come, just like all of us watching I'm firmly in the camp of it being BS and definitely every title on that 75 game list should be kept, along with any titles he got cheaper under that "promise" everything else is fair game imo
So you get your DREAM of having this collection and just a couple of days / weeks you sell it all ? Just say straight away that you are just making content like a challenge of getting all those games. Saying it is your dream to have these games and then selling it is just showing that you are clearly doing this for content and not for personal fulfilment of having the game collection you have wanting ever since you were a kid.
"Just say straight away that you are just making content" .... Phoenix is a RUclipsr and this is already implied, he doesn't need to explain it to you. Also as the other reply says he literally kept half of them
@@humanpr0ject1 What hooked me on the channel and on the series was the idea of getting your childhood dream collection of all the games you use to see on video game magazines and Toys R’Us / game store brochures. If he didn’t want a game then just don’t buy it. It’s not like there isn’t a whole website were you can check gameplay and opinions to see if you would be interested in the game. There was no need for him to buy games that were not on the checklist to begin with. We are talking about a console that launched 20 years ago. His business is reselling and I thought that at least this series would show his gamer side more than the business side of things. If he kept it for a little while longer a made a series of him making quick fire reviews and ranking the games he bought that would lead to a more diverse selection of content for his channel and would connect directly to the GameCube Gambit Series. Of course it is his channel and he can do whatever he wants but it wouldn’t hurt to know along the way that “Yeah I’m just going to keep some of them” if that was the case he should have tried to go for the full North American GameCube library. Just my 2 cents
He could have been less cap and had the actual list be what was in the keep pile, while still acquire the other “sell” games outside of the gambit. But no, he needed the thumbnail of him holding Pokémon box.
Caleb, I watched all your content. I'm a collector and retired reseller (though I still might make a flip once every few months) from 10-20 years ago. You made a big mistake and perhaps got too big for your britches with the emotionalism you sold attached to the GC Gambit. The backlash you're seeing is warranted, and you should rethink ever tying any personal attachment or pleas to any product you plan to immediately flip in the future. Just saying, it's hard to take you seriously after this. I know I'm just a guy on the internet, but this is a bad look brother. Hope you apologize, perhaps make a donation to a few local charities, and never mix profit with emotional pleas to your audience again.
let’s see if he goes full blow politician mode and starts the PS1 gambit explaining how his goal is to make the PS1 collection of his childhood dreams.
This just not feels right to all the nice people that has given him nice deals so he could finish his "dream collection" . My trust for this person really went downhill
The fact that he's got near 45k views and less than 2k in likes shows exactly how your viewers feel. Your choice to sell of more than half of your childhood "must have" collections is based on lies and deception..Caleb is one of the shadiest youtubers on the platform when it comes to buying from fans, so it's honestly no surprise that he would pull this shit.
He had a list of 75 games to get and keep, after 8 months when the series ended he decided to refine the list and kept 56 games with 10 being on the list because like he said in the video, why would you keep games that you don’t want to have in your collection. The rest of the games are extras that he got along the way and weren’t even on the list because think about it, you have a gamecube game hunting video wouldn’t it make sense to buy games in every episode as what would the point be in not buying at least one gamecube game in a gamecube hunting video
I have no problem flipping games. It's just supply and demand. Also, this is a reseller channel. What I do have a problem with is that you pretended that you wanted to make up for a missed childhood experience. Something that many (former) viewers can identify with. Heck, you haven't even tried those games and put them up for sale almost immediately. Don't forget that the value of the games is also so high due to the love of gamers who are diligently looking for an exclusive game to relive a piece of childhood. UNSUBSCRIBE
If you don't want this to happen again, just don't call yourself a game collector and preach your love for the GameCube or any other console tbh, keep it to the money and business and you can still find an audience and be successful. But decepting your audience is disgusting, just be true to yourself man.
Whats worse to me is that the whole premise of this video was that you “needed space on a shelf” in a room in a house that you won’t even live in another month.. so disingenuous and just a straight up hack
Dude doesn’t give a shit what we think. We know he doesn’t buy them to play them, he buys them to resell or get them in lowball deals. Dude is all about money.
You're a reseller, and that's fine, but if you had stated to people who cut you a deal on a video game that you were going to keep it for your collection and now are selling it for a huge profit then I question you credibility greatly. I collect and only resell duplicates, never my collection. And when I say I will be hanging onto a game I hang on to it. I am never dubious in my dealings with people and there games.
I don’t sell anything that isn’t a duplicate. 12+ years of collecting 3,400+ games, 100+ consoles and I only sell duplicates, but I never got in it for the profit…Just thought collecting retro games was fun and brought back memories. I mean the price/value has worked out in my favor as I have a pretty insane collection, but I’m still not selling anything as I still just collect based on my collection goals…not value.
All click bait to create interest in a hobby that just two short years ago was actually fun to do. I have a feeling that once you can travel without having to quarantine and the chip shortage is over this bubble will pop like the great coin bubble of the 80s
So much for childhood dream / childhood collection. The series is over so time to turn a profit I guess. Kinda dampens the whole thing for me. Seems it was pointless now.
This is kind of upsetting. I watched this whole series and thought it was awesome you were getting the games from your childhood. But now that you are selling them as soon as you finished the list it’s disappointing. I get selling them eventually but it’s been like a week.
He barely tried any of them. In his other video he ranked his favorite games based on the memories he had buying it, not on his experience playing it. People can be so weird
@@not.an.alt.account Then he says “I don’t subscribe to the toxic mentality of keeping them in some bin somewhere.” His fans wouldn’t be this disappointed if he waited a little while to sell them or made content with the games before immediately flipping them.
@@kylekillen1836 also how is it toxic to collect games. I sell non of my games unless it’s something that I already have and I neatly have them stored on a shelf unit and play them pretty religiously because of that. If anything it’s toxic to buy games and haggle people down as far as possible just to sell for 150% more than you bought it because you saw an eBay listing that was high. This guy is toxic because he literally shames collectors for collecting and then proceeds to take part in the inflation of game prices. Instead of watching this clown go watch morts garage, he has a massive collection and is able to fund it by buying and selling games that he already has in better condition or doesn’t want. Mort doesn’t do this shit because of money, he does it because he has a passion for gaming. This guy only cares about the mighty dollar….
You would almost think that half your viewers would start to finally see that you aren't a gamer, aren't a friend and that you only care money (views, sales) but they won't. Not yet at least. You will slowly decline though and that is good for the real collector's who want reasonable prices.
Right? I’m thinking good, let him flood the GameCube market and help bring this high level collectible fad back down to reality. Some of us just wanna play non-emulated 6th Gen games and not deal extrinsic speculation. His childhood dream wasn’t the collection, it was the attention.
The whole point of this was to get the games you missed out on no? "The gamecube collection of my childhood dreams". Its your games but man what was the point of this challenge?
You selling your “childhood collection” too soon after completing it, that’s why people might call you fake no hate though, if you wanted to sell them you should’ve wait for like maybe in 6months or a year after completing after calling this you “childhood collection”
I downsized my game collection significantly this year. At first it was a hard decision, but then I asked myself the question when going through my inventory- “am I really going to play this?” And so I sold them/traded them in to my local store. Curating a collection with games that actually mean something to you rather than just having bulk filler is so much more rewarding
The criticism isn't that he's downsizing and curating, that's perfectly healthy. It's that he was being misleading in acquiring games on the cheap with a story and fake interest, when now it seems the intent all along was to create content and flip them when finished.
That was fast...I think using clout and RUclips status for deals, some of which viewers reached out to add to his collection and see sold fast has retro gamers bummed. Beats clearing a convention of handhelds for content but I would have waited a bit longer to sell
I think and i, and many others, were under the impression you were intending to keep a huge majority of this collection, i mean what was the point of the series if you are to sell them? I mean hell, some of these games you'd have never gotten but you almost guilted people into selling at a lower price then they wanted because it was "going to a good home/into a collection/wasn't going to be re-sold later for profit" By selling them i think you undermine the entire point of the gamecube gambit and damn near make the series a lie "As you all know i'm building the gamecube collection of my childhood dreams" is what you led many Gamecube gambit episodes with, and what, the series ends and you sell it immediately? Some childhood dream y'know? Look, i can see selling the extra lower end stuff that wasn't on the original 75 game list you had. But you should be keeping every game you had on that list imo.
This isn't the first time this guy has done some scummy shit and it won't be the last, uses viewers who gave him great deals or free games to complete his collection and now he just sells them for some profit. Gotta love when "man of God" does not actually live by those standards.
Damn man I defended you and you immediately sell it. Even on Reddit someone called it down to the T. Dunno man kinda kills the channel knowing it's all 100% money only.
Wasn’t the Pesaling part to “get the collection of my childhood dreams” not “briefly acquire mainline titles to create a positive narrative around the business.” Call a spade a spade, it was just a content flex since GameCube is hot.
honest question... the series started with a list of 75 (I think) games that were your "dream collection". Along the way, you picked up a lot of other titles as you found them in the wild. How many of the original list did you keep? I am guessing that most of what you are selling off are the "bonus" titles you found while looking for your specific list
@@rp71284 When OP said Def Jam, I thought he meant the first game so I thought to myself "ehh game was kinda mid, I'd probably sell too" but now that I see it's Fight for NY? This dude is cracked for selling it. I have my ps2 copy I've had since a kid and I'm never selling it. Game is a masterpiece.
Ooooo Caleb buddy this was a meme! Good bit Caleb. GG. Fool me once. Edit: I hope all of the people who gave you good deals in those videos liked all the "This is for the GameCube collection." and "Do it for the Gambit." you have on film.
Wow man. This is disheartening, and really has me calling into question your sincerity / authenticity regarding the entire gamecube gambit. Guess it was all just a marketing ploy to get people to watch the channel. Makes me question your overall sincerity which is sad, since that's why i watch you. Pretty manipulative to gaslight us all right at the beginning of the video with your "fake gamer" comments to try and deflect all the legit criticism here in the comments. I've watched every single video you've put up since your very clever "Scott the Woz crossover". I knew that was a PR move, but it was a very clever one I respected...this one not so much. Not sure if I'll continue to watch after this.
And that's a reseller for you! Always looking for the next score or deal no matter who they step on to do so! Sad how the retro game YT community has become so toxic now! Bet he takes this video down due to all the negative comments.
Why not spend $ on games you were actually going to keep? The whole point of this was to “get the gamecube collection of my dreams”. Seems odd to lowball viewers for their games only to resell with no intention on keeping. Feels very deceptive.
So the last 8 months of watching you hunt for these games was actually all BS . Lol this guy's is a true sales man . I am unsubscribing bro . This really ticks me off
They're moving. He doesn't need to hoard a huge collection of games during that and he kept all the ones that meant something to him. I'm just gonna assume y'all are high schoolers or something because there's no good reason for grown adults to be so dense in this comment section
@@humanpr0ject1 No, not a high schooler. Just disappointing to watch someone seemingly fake being excited about growing a collection and then immediately turn around and toss half of it. Not a big deal, but he was certainly misleading.
@@AuthenticFinds doesn’t mean it wasn’t genuine. There’s no reason to keep games you have no intention of playing if your end goal is to have a collection of games you want to play. If he wanted a collection just to sit on a shelf so he could look at it that’s a different story, but he said that’s not what his goal is.
He said it himself "this channel has always been about money" so every single thing he said about finding these games for a childhood dream is utterly false I feel bad for the collectors who parted with these rare games to hook this dumpster of a human up
It’s your collection do what you want with it but it’s a major let down that you decide to resell them so quickly, making it seem like you were actually after them to collect them more than to just resell them
i was starting to watch the GC gambit then immediately stoped when I saw that he has sold more than half, lost all the respect I had before. Funny how he decided to put this in a second channel and not in the main one...
The reason the GameCube gambit was so entertaining is because of the joy and excitement you showed while collecting them. However, now it feels like it was all a sham to produce content for RUclips. I don’t even like playing video games anymore in fact I actually HATE IT but Ive watched every single episode of the game cube gambit. Being a collector myself it’s always exciting to watch someone complete a collection of any kind. However, now that your just getting rid of the whole collection who’s going to watch you collect anything else. Even worse is you’ve become one of them . The one thing that collectors hate more than anything are fake collectors who buy rare items only to resell them and raise the price of the items. I’ve said many things in the previous paragraph but I have to separately address the sheer amount of deception and manipulation you’ve displayed while filming this series. So many people that sold to you gave you discounts under the belief that you were a true collector. It really appears as if any authenticity you had while collecting was manufactured for the singular purpose of getting a discount so you could resale the items later. Which will be very easy to do since you’ve been promoting the collection for 8 months.
You can say "Hater Hanks" are after you for this one. But this is pretty low... The fact you posted this on your 2nd channel with 1/10th the subs is telling enough. A lot of people gave you good deals on some of this stuff because they thought they were helping you complete your "childhood dream collection." Turns out it was a farce and you are just another youtuber chasing views. It is what it is but don't get upset when people unsub. You really did your loyal fan base a disservice here.
I guess it’s his fault for not being clear of his intentions after the series ended and everyone that’s hating on him fault for not seeing this coming. If anyone gave him deals I guess it’s their fault for also not seeing this coming. He kept a good chunk of the games, and I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want to keep games I don’t play, especially if I could get a good amount of cash for them. People are kinda overreacting in the comments imo. Like he didn’t keep Madden 06...big deal
Don't have a problem with you selling but have a problem with you getting us to watch your videos based off your "collection" when really all you are is a reseller
Yeah, if GameCube was cheap and common without a flipping upside he wouldn’t have done it. Now trying to tempt us to his whatnot since the WATA games didn’t pan out.
this video makes it transparent that you are a business owner first. Gaming/collecting is not the reason you reach out to viewers for their items. maybe your audience in arbitrage and reselling will grow but this isn't something I want to subscribe to anymore.
Personally, I would of made a segment called Keep or Flip and it's you playing and reviewing every game. Or a few games every episode and seeing you uncover gems, and finding the doo doo...
This is like GotG and their purging episodes. They go into why they can’t keep a game and how it’s always about refining the collection. So much classier
Preach. The real list should have been what was in his keep pile. I have my own spreadsheet of wishlist games but I make sure to organize which games I really need to own and play (especially if it’s something my friends will enjoy split screen) over games that I could just emulate. If Riff hadn’t bought him Ribbit King he deff would have sold it. It’s all about the extrinsic value with him.
Some people like collecting the games and the hunt and some people like playing the games he literally talks about it in this video. Everyone can do what ever they want with their collection, there’s nothing wrong with what he is doing as he is still keeping the ones he wants and then using the rest to fund other projects and collections just like a lot of other collectors do. I have a big collection of games that I don’t have the intention of playing and also get rid of the ones I don’t feel need to be in the collection anymore.
@@DubsBrown how was it click bait? He said he wanted to make a permanent gamecube collection as it was his child hood dream of owning gamecube games etc and that’s exactly what he done. He just ended up refining the original list of games he made from 75 to 56 with 10 of them games not even being on the list, there’s no harm in refining your collection with games you prefer to have is there?. The majority of the games in the sell pile weren’t even on the list and were extra games he came across during the hunt as he was hunting for any gamecube game he could find was he not?
The real list should have been your keep pile, and the sell pile you could have acquired outside the gambit. But of course this was calculated mainline titles that make good thumbnails.
It’ll be cool if you had sold them cheaper than market or at least at the same valine you brought cause at least that would feel genuine it’s like a selling gift since many of these you got dirt cheap from people who believed you were going to keep them
Channels like this ruin the hobby lol it drives up demand just for the games to sit on a shelf for peoples backdrops in videos. This bubble will burst so yeah you should sell now, get your money back. But don’t be mad when people are mad lol it’s a natural reaction for collectors to cringe at someone who’s purely in it for the money. This won’t last long though just gotta be patient
He did for 10 episodes out of the 25, maybe he stopped doing it because people clicked off the video and didn’t find it interesting anymore when it got to that point
As a physical media collector for 10 years and a part-time reseller for the last year, I totally respect refining the personal collection. Much better to have the items you keep actually reflect your tastes and have a chance of actually seeing some play. Plus, games take up space in the home and can look sloppy if not neatly organized. Enjoyed this video a lot. This is my exact process whenever buying Bluray and video game collections (what to keep, what to sell).
I totally agree with you. You also have to clean them a lot if you live in an area where dust likes to collect. The money of the games you sell can also pay for your next lot
Thank you, list should have only been what was in the keep pile, and he could have acquired the others outside the gambit. But no, he needs Pokemon Box in the thumbnail. Thank God Riff bought him Ribbit King or else he’d flip that.
No one would have a problem with him selling the games if he didn’t market the series as “making his child dream a reality.” If he marketed the series as a profit maker, no one would be mad.
Definitely a bummer that the childhood dream collection got split up and it wasnt about trying to achieve something you didn’t have as a kid but regardless it’s cool to see you’re keeping some of it and congrats on the house.
Almost every collector sells eventually. You hunt, you display and then eventually you find something you like more and out with the old and in with the new.

I think he just has fun collecting and he's now getting rid of games he honestly doesn't think he'll shove in his gamecube ever.
how can a guy who isn't a gamer be a fake gamer? isn't like he is ever playing games
Funny thing is that the "List " was created by viewers not by himself since he never had a GameCube when he was younger.
He did this all for content and we all know why bcuz he loves moneeeyy
Fr and a lot of people gave him deals as well
@@drousuh6903 Yeah as i said in my comment, a lot of deals he got on some of the more expensive titles he said things like "come on its going into a collection" or that it was going to be in "good hands" you know, telling the person "Yeah i want you to sell me this game even cheaper, on the promise i won't resell it" these people sold them, under the impression they would be kept in his collection for years to come, just like all of us watching
I'm firmly in the camp of it being BS and definitely every title on that 75 game list should be kept, along with any titles he got cheaper under that "promise" everything else is fair game imo
exactly
Nothing can be more scummy than doing this with a channel
So you get your DREAM of having this collection and just a couple of days / weeks you sell it all ?
Just say straight away that you are just making content like a challenge of getting all those games.
Saying it is your dream to have these games and then selling it is just showing that you are clearly doing this for content and not for personal fulfilment of having the game collection you have wanting ever since you were a kid.
"Just say straight away that you are just making content"
.... Phoenix is a RUclipsr and this is already implied, he doesn't need to explain it to you. Also as the other reply says he literally kept half of them
He didn’t sell them all? He kept just under half.

Literally 2k likes with only 45k views isn’t bad.

So much for childhood dream / childhood collection. The series is over so time to turn a profit I guess. Kinda dampens the whole thing for me. Seems it was pointless now.
His list should have been the keep pile, while still acquiring the other games outside of the gambit rules.
This is kind of upsetting. I watched this whole series and thought it was awesome you were getting the games from your childhood. But now that you are selling them as soon as you finished the list it’s disappointing. I get selling them eventually but it’s been like a week.

Or just like make the actual list what was in the keep pile and acquire the sell games outside of the gambit.
This is such trash. You literally fleeced locals and garage sales to flip stuff without playing it.
I have plenty I know I'll never play. But I'm not selling them! Good or bad, they're in my collection.
Rewarding to me, is to have a big collection :)
The criticism isn't that he's downsizing and curating, that's perfectly healthy. It's that he was being misleading in acquiring games on the cheap with a story and fake interest, when now it seems the intent all along was to create content and flip them when finished.
he sold them all tho lol
That was fast...I think using clout and RUclips status for deals, some of which viewers reached out to add to his collection and see sold fast has retro gamers bummed. Beats clearing a convention of handhelds for content but I would have waited a bit longer to sell
He wasn’t allowed to watch Ed edd and eddy?!?!? This explains a lot

I think and i, and many others, were under the impression you were intending to keep a huge majority of this collection, i mean what was the point of the series if you are to sell them? I mean hell, some of these games you'd have never gotten but you almost guilted people into selling at a lower price then they wanted because it was "going to a good home/into a collection/wasn't going to be re-sold later for profit"
By selling them i think you undermine the entire point of the gamecube gambit and damn near make the series a lie "As you all know i'm building the gamecube collection of my childhood dreams" is what you led many Gamecube gambit episodes with, and what, the series ends and you sell it immediately? Some childhood dream y'know? Look, i can see selling the extra lower end stuff that wasn't on the original 75 game list you had. But you should be keeping every game you had on that list imo.

A scumy reseller worried about being called a fake gamer? Groundbreaking news.
Turns out it was a farce and you are just another youtuber chasing views.
