I've had the beast 20's for a while. I wanted to mention the build quality. 10/10 your foot gets locked into the heal. outer soul is very durable. 3 years later and minimal wear. I can't wait to get these.
I've been running in the Ghost for several years now. As I get older (78) I think I'd like something with a bit more cushion. Pace isn't a concern any more, just comfort and protection for my feet. I tend to hurt a bit in the outer ball of my foot from time to time, so I'm wondering about stability/motion control.
I'm a year late to this review and am turning to Brooks as a custom orthotic wearer abandoned by Asics. I do need a firmer motion control shoe and not enamored of the mushy hyper foamy trend. I believe between the Ariel and the Adrenaline GTS I'll be good to go. Thanks for the review and thank goodness for Brooks!
I've spent the last few years trying to make barefoot shoes work, unsuccessfully, and have just ventured back into normal running shoes. I have no less than four pairs (Brooks Adrenaline, Beast, and Ghost and a Mizuno Wave Horizon) from about 5 years ago, three of which are quite worn but still usable, while the Beasts are almost like new. I've been switching back and forth between all of them to get a sense of what I like and so far the Adrenaline's are my favorite, although for walking/everyday activities the Beasts seem the best. Eventually I'm going to have to head to the store and try to decide between Adrenaline/Beast/Glycerin GTS. I'll probably hold off on replacing the Beasts since the old pair is still going to last for a long time, and I'd really like something lighter and hopefully with less drop, but I'm curious to see how the new generation feels.
Anyone Help, I am heavy 150kg / 330lbs. I bought NB Vongo because I thought the cushioning would be good for heavier person. Have been walking 4k's quite hilly from my house but now my ankle's and achilles really sore/ painful and I have to stop which is disappointing. First I thought it was to do with drop but now I am convinced it is to do with my feet rolling on my ankles because of all the foam. I think I need to be nearer to the ground and less movement through the ankles. Would this be a good try for me? I have big feet 12.5uk wide.
This is only shoe for heavier people that run or walk for exercise. My ankles can't survive anything else, this shoe makes everything feel stable and aligned. Highly recommend.
I've been wearing Beasts for a while since it highly recommended for flat footed runners, is there any other brooks shoe you recommend that might be similar?
you guys have been succered. You apparently don't know what the real Beast looked like. Now that Brooks is owned by Fruit of the Loom and completely taken over. It has given up the real structure of the shoe

Looks like a great shoe.

I used beast for 10 years, Changed to Hoka Gaviota and have never looked back.
The Hoka Arahi is also another option. Arguably the lightest of the "acclaimed" stability shoes.

Obviously, this is not a motion-control shoe. Especially not a "super stable shoe". You know better.-John
Hey, I’m curious, What makes you say it’s not motion control?
It IS.
Beast 14 is the goat. Anything after that is shitty.
Facts, I had to resort to buying them off eBay
