I'm a 41yo grown man and I think I've got something in my eye... I started watching the Dragon Prince with my young kids, and the love story between Rayla and Callum is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in any film or tv :-)
I would have liked to see a little bit more of a buildup with these two in terms of their romance, but honestly they are so cute and wholesome that it doesn't matter that much to me. We got to see them build a great foundation of friendship first. Then it was kind of refreshing to see them discover their feelings and get past the awkward cringey phase quickly. Often in these types of shows, the writers try to do the slow burn thing where they drag out the relationship until the very end, and I have found myself tiring of the trope over the years. It's nice that they didn't meander or tiptoe around this couple. They saw potential in it and just decided to go for it. Callum and Rayla just have so much love and admiration for each other, and it's undeniably adorable.
These scenes make me cry. There are so many emotional movies and books out there but this hits your heart in such a way it hurts. Forever knowing how beautiful their love is, how genuine and real. No shining Prince or over the top romanticism. It wasn’t forced, it felt real. There was no direct line from meeting to lovers. There were ups and down. That’s why it is the most wonderful. There is pain in knowing something this beautiful only exists as a work of fiction. That there is no Rayla to my Callum. Still I am grateful that I was here to witness it.
When I first saw the first kiss between Callum and Rayla, I thought they were a teenage boy who became a student in one of another realm's academies and a dragon-elf girl serving as one of the students who's been in the academy for longer than him. But it then became clear.
I mean Rayla probably has very little social experience and anger seems to be the comfort emotion she relies on when she doesn't know the proper reaction.
@@rsf1kirito483 They broke up in season 4 because Rayla left to search for Viren on Callum's birthday for 2 whole years. But their relationship is slowly starting to grow again in season 5
