Absolutely beautiful, in performance, interpretation and in composition. So, is it En La Paz or something else? Either way, does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this piece please??
Not impressed with the mystery work. It's a very very simple melody that sounds rather maudlin and sappy. Some are asking for sheet music? For this? You can play it RIGHT NOW. Just listen to it a few more times. It's extremely easy. You don't need sheet music for this. Probably some folk tune (maybe Irish?) whose words are more important than the melody.
I do respect your feeling that it's special, somehow. We all have different ideas about what's great. I know that simple melodies are often extremely special and I could list several. Many of Mozart's greatest melodies are quite simple. Many of Rachmaninov's melodies have very few notes. So we DO agree that simple/easy can be beautiful. My objection to this piece is likely NOT its melody but its arrangement which sounds overly sweet, dull, and, to me, unappealing. Can't help it, that's how I feel. If you have a chance, I would direct you to Mendelssohn's Piano Trio, Op 49, No. 1, the 2nd Movement which is Andante. THERE is an example of a simple melody that will illustrate what I'm trying to tell you.
Jim Jennings Pretty tacky criticism for a piece that was clearly dedicated to a friend of the performer. It's probably a favorite tune of theirs. I agree it's not a profound masterpiece, but it's pretty and Harrell sounds really great playing it
I respect Lynn Harrell tremendously but I am allowed my taste. This is very unoriginal, there are MANY little ditties like it, especially among American folk people. They get as much out of it as possible but it's syrupy and I hope to never hear it again.
I don't know what it takes to impress you, but my heart is so moved by this lovely, gentle, plaintiff melody that just takes you home. I can't think of anything more impressive than that.
My loved Lynn Harrel, thanks for so much Beauty!! You are in Heaven.
Everything he does is with such intention. There has never been and never will be another like him. RIP, still struggle with this loss

With all due respect, just because a work is simple/easy does not mean it can't be extremely beautiful.
