Glad to see you back, wishing you a strong recovery. I have been off my bike for 6 months, slid out in the rain and sprained my MCL. As i was sliding down the street when I came to a stop I thought of your tag line. Have a good one Lucas.
yikes..hope you get well fast dude..and i'm sure you will..we missed ya..was hoping all was well..always appreciated your vids.. reminded me of the why we rode bikes as kids..for fun and adventure.. with a little misbehavior and laughs mixed in..i really appreciate your work..
Damn, glad you're good and recovering, wish you to get better soon! This is resonating so much with all your usual messages/life lessons through your videos.... like don't waste your life fearing to do stuff or "ride fast", life is fragile anyway and something as small as a tick can take you down someday and just leave you dying in regrets.
Resilience is something I practice and know even when there aren't emergencies With the risks we take, being truly resilient allows you to take far greater risks than anyone!
The amount of times I've been taken out when doing something risky on a bike: 0 (knock wood x 3) The amount of times I've broken bones, wiped out, messed up my gear doing the most mundane move: more than I can count. Get well soon, keep them videos coming!
Wow. Unbelievable chronicle of your experience. And zero click bait in the title... goodness me... To close out with ride footage, infinitely strong of you... my father died last week, so mortality has been on my mind twice as much lately... and I have a story to tell regarding my cycle career ending in a collision 2 years ago that also very nearly ended my life, but I'm sat on all the gnarly footage/evidence and what have you... I'd like it to somehow come to some good - but any and every attempt to work with it is just a sob story.
Sorry for your fathers passing, we don't know how much time we have which is a reason I live the way I do I hope you can ride again, I'm riding to build back up Do the edit - Lean into that sadness tho, it can be your greatest strength.
I was just thinking about you last night and sent a message to your IG wondering how you were doing. This morning waking up and seeing you posted a video made my day. It’s insane how a tick took you out after all the crazy skitching/ riding you have done. I’ve been getting pretty good at skitching lately myself. Hit 50 mph for the first time not too long ago. It was a insane dopamine rush. Anyways rest up and look forward to more of your videos
Great to see your face again. I've been down for a month myself, the internal problems cannot be walked off, it's so annoying. Finally got back on bikes this week, jumped a few steps on my bmx and slid into the wall, head first. With skinned knuckles and my shoulder hurting a bit, still enjoyed a lite session. Maybe I too should get on the city's bikes....
Glad you're still with us Lucas. That diving dream was so meaningful and beautiful, in a sense. I once had a very high fever (I had some flu for a month, more than a decade ago, which suddenly got worse) and I also had similar dream. The dream was a lot more abstract (I won't go into details), everything was green, but with time, the time itself was getting slower and I started switching pespectives, becoming different people and even objects. While the time was slowing down my perspective started to switch faster. At the very last moment the time was very slow and I became earth and felt that everything was on me. In the end the time have stopped completely and I gained all the perspectives at once, as if I was everything. Everything in my mind got so clear when I got all the pespectives at once, and there was no time anymore, everything was still. I woke up suffocating actually, somehow managed to crawl to a window to open it to get some fresh air. After sleeping for a few hours after that, I woke up again, and I felt quite good actually, even though my temperature was still at 41.2 Cº.
Really glad to hear that you're doing alright and recovering. I'm sure it has been really difficult. We've missed you and look forward to following on your path to recovery
Lymes did this to you? Wow. Never knew this was a complication. I had full blown Lymes a decade ago: fever, knees like grapefruits, anemia, IV antibiotics and everything. It *sucked.* Get well soon. Your perspective from this is inspiring as ever.
i was also wondering many times where the hell did Brunelle goes.. is he ok? man, im glad you doing good and i hope you can recover fast. wish you the best Lucas!
Glad your feeling better. Ticks are no joke, I do nature photography and and I get them on me sometimes. Have to check myself all the time when hiking around.
Splenic rupture due to babesia microti infection is a very rare complication. It's amazing you were able to recover and it's wonderful seeing you back riding again
I was really happy to get the Lucas upload this morning! I've been curious about what happened? Glad to hear you're recovering! If anyone is gonna dust themselves off and get back on, it's LB. 👍
Yo man, I am glad you are okay. I have had a few of those experiences you shared with us, similar but not the same; no water. What I was able to learn is that it isn't done with me because I have altruistic work to do. Be well lukas.
Any hints a day or even week before that something bad is coming? My friend had Lyme and he felt it for many days, gradually getting worse, fever, muscle pain, headache etc.
Yes several symptoms, I forced myself to go hard This is a tough one for me because I preach to my audience mind over matter But this time I guess I pushed that too far I didn't feel like riding that day but the bike is the go to for every problem I've had and so it’s not the things you fear the most that can be so deadly
get well soon lucas !!! crazy dream or whatever that was. my guess a near death experiance. hope you will get same strengh like before for many upcoming years. get well.
I get the message of this video. I got doored recently while lane splitting on my bike, it was a critical hit. Apparently the passenger lady who opened the passenger door hit my arm so hard that got permanent soft tissue damage on my arm. I been doored before and it wasn't this bad. Life can be so unexpected. Now I have to consider wearing some type of armor if I'm biking. Insanity. What are freaking SUV doors made of thesedays anyway?
Did they pull your spleen out? I ruptured mine on my MTB back in the 90’s, emergency surgery and months of building back. Nothing but a scar to remind off that day, living without a spleen is fine. Best of luck on your recovery, you’ve been missed!
I've missed y'all a lot, I was taking longer to post a vid figuring I'd be recovered by now, guess not. No they didn't have to remove my spleen thankfully, it's healing slowly but surely
Whilst your acute symptoms were rough, it meant you got a proper diagnosis and the right treatment early on. If you'd not tried to ride out the problem, you might not have ruptured that spleen, but could have struggled with undiagnosed low-level chronic symptoms for a long time. Good to see you back on the bike in your latest upload.
They were very perplexed at first and thought that I'd had some big accident but yeah Mass General Hospital knew everything about this and how to recover
@@lucasbrunelle I agree. Resilience is important. You are at ground zero while I'm just an onlooker. But still, I am hoping you are more serious about the word resilience than about obsession. As terrible as this may have been, it's fortunate that they were actually able to diagnose Lyme disease. One of the more insidious aspects to Lyme is that in can be very difficult to determine, and will often mask itself as several different things. Getting that proper diagnosis is key to your recovery. Be sure to thank the Dr. who was diligent enough to pin it down. Safe returns. 🙏 That being said, changing the title of this video to include the words Lyme Disease might offer an important alert to others who may not otherwise watch to the end (or watch at all). Just a thought.
They tested me like every hour for dozens of things before they found that I may do a separate video on Lyme and the Spleen recovery too since mine literally burst
Can't believe what I've just seen. Today I got the call by my doctor with the diagnosis Lyme disease... Luckily I've mentioned the red dot on my leg a week ago (without the tick anymore) but my wife had the right intuition... Feeling with you Lucas!

Heh, tell that to Siberians. They have encephalitis in their ticks. That bitch kills, luckily it has a vaccine. Lime hasn't
