The Houston livestock show and rodeo isn't just a couple of weekend shows. It's a 3 week lineup of mostly country artists with a Hispanic heritage day, a Rap day, an EDM day, an alternative rock day sprinkled in between. Every show is pretty much sold out too.
Go Tejano Day breaks the attendance record every year. This used to be Mexico. I'm a sixth generation descendant from Juan Vargas of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Real talk we break records at the stadium on "Black Heritage" night since they started doing rap with bun B..and "Go Tejano" always break records...and real talk other nights don't compare anymore especially rodeo show nights Monday- Thursday and its 35-45,000 in attendance on a slow night black Heritage night 60-70,000 in attendance sold same on Go Tejano I've been working at the stadium for years..I done seen them all... ain't nothing like HOUSTON RODEO TIME CITY BE LITE AND EVERYBODY FROM AROUND THE 🌎

I’m from Memphis and I experienced the rodeo for the first time this past year and I have to admit that I had an amazing time each time I went out to an event. Wish Memphis had something like it.
Yall have Beale St though. The H doesn't have anything like it. Rodeo is ok, but its only once a year. I love Memphis, and both cities always been tied in some way. Like country cousins.
I don’t think the target audience is the 18-30 age range. Young folks don’t know how to act in them environments sometimes. Plus its marketed as more of a family event
For one I’m sure there’s a budget Bun B has for these artist. Travis Scott would probably eat the entire budget alone. 2 the rodeo is a family event bro. Some of these artist don’t align with what that theme. Bun B does a great job every year. If sauce feel like that why not make your own festival and do it how u saying it should be. Everything is easier said than done

the Rodeo is an older and Family event .there is alot that comes with having younger artist at this type of event. especially if the artist are from the area. I understand what Sauce is saying tho. But we do need a Major event with younger artist... Sauce City weekend would be live !!!!

There are carnivals, livestock shows, petting zoo and more amenities other than the concerts.
It caters to all demographics and ethnic backgrounds.
The rodeo is typically a month long in each city in Texas. Houston rodeo and Texas Fair are the two biggest attractions people drive hours to visit the city for the amenities, and nightlife.
The concerts for the rodeo could have younger acts. But it’s tailored to families and couples, not age specifically.
The country artist are always the most popular, the rock and r&b is normally classic artist or group.

I went to the h town takeover 2 yrs ago and the southern takeover last yr. Both of those concerts were for proven artists and also for nostalgia . NRG is a big arena for ppl that are still trying to find their lane which is who sauce referring to.

This is the rodeo. They were not letting too many rap artists perform period. They gave Bun a little flexibility to do some things outside the regular shows. Bottom line people wanted to see the artists that Bun put out there. It wouldn't have been a big crowd lined up to see a lot of artists that they've never heard of; Sauce has enough money to put on his own festival and let whoever he wants to come perform. The Rodeo is a different animal, not for just anyone.

He’s kind of misrepresenting the Houston Rodeo. It’s not a festival. Hip hop artist get one or two nights. Each night you get about 2-3 hours to put on that show. The rodeo is not the place to put people on. I’d say the closest thing to what he’s talking about is SXSW. That’s one of the largest music festivals in the country and plenty of artist have come out of that

First the Houston Takeover has only been going on for 3yrs. Next the crowd attending the show is based off the lineup. The first two had a majority of crowd 40 and up b/c it was most old school artist. The 3rd one drew a younger crowd b/c of Drake and Mexican OT. There is no need to have Meagan or Travis Scott b/c Drake is larger than both of them together. As far as new up and coming artist. There are probably not enough to fill that entire time slot.
