      @@ed9095 that is a great question! I love pop quizzes, looks like a geography quiz today. I'll give you some hints to solve this mystery.
      First hint: i live in a constitutional/ federal republic/ oligarchy.
      Next hint: if this test was in my school, it would be multiple choice with no wrong answers.
      Third hint: you can find me at this number-37.0902° N, and 95.7129°W
      Last hint: 100 percent of the population believes 50 percent of the population are bat shit crazy, And the comedian in this video is being philosophical as he describes the government, and it's people.
      I have a bonus question for you. Who is Amerigo Vespucci? And do you ever get told your really attractive, then start to think maybe you're more attractive than you think, but then you see a picture of yourself someone else took, and your like, oh shit I'm worse than I thought? Have an average day, I predict you will.

    Unfortunately, he speaks the truth. Critics say that George got bitter late in his career but that's not the case. He loved this country and was truly disappointed watching it decline. Now you have many who would call you "unpatriotic" at best and "traitor" at worst for saying anything negative about the U.S. But you have to first admit there's a problem before you can do anything about it.

    • @MichaelW969
      @MichaelW969 5 месяцев назад +1

      Comedy is subjective and perceived differently by everyone. IMO George wasn't funny his last few years doing standup. That's why some feel he became bitter, and I agree. Again, no right or wrong answer here, it's all subjective.

    • @annjohnson994
      @annjohnson994 5 месяцев назад +5

      Probably true. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was said to be somewhat bitter as he got older. There's a saying that says " Life is a comedy for the man who thinks and a tragedy for the man who feels." George Carlin did both. It's very hard on the people who do both. I know this from experience.

And why is that? Aren't they supposed to be helping the greater good, be giving back to the community? Nope. Only those with self-interests or dreams of power pursue that.

    I believe it's not the first time you've mentioned that what George spoke about as not endemic to the USA alone. Probably the most bitter pill to swallow about democracy is that the same framework that gives people a semblance of freedom, also serves to empower the kinds of people who don't care about you or your family. It should make anyone feel justifiably angry.

    Whenever young people react to George Carlin, they often make him out to be some sort of fortune teller. Actually, this system he bashed went through 40+ years of evolution, following behavioral patterns of previous empires that have collapsed, and he was keenly aware and detected the signs. It started with questioning authority from a very early age and not taking anyone at face value. You just have to set aside time to do practically your own journalistic research and detective work.

    It is of course largely the same all over the world, but where the U.S. really shines is in getting its people to love the system that's exploiting them. I have always tended to go against the current, even as a very young child. I was always asking the kinds of questions that most people didn't want to address, but it still took me decades to dismantle the programming this society puts into its citizens. But your reaction to this bit does give me a little hope that one of these days we might fix some of these problems.

    Poor George, he thought that with 50 pounds extra they are this huge. Try 100-200 pounds extra. It's funny that when he talks about white and blue collar shirts, I noticed the colors that you are wearing lol. And on the topic of politics, Mark Twain once said: "If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let us do it."

    Not the normal slapstick, obvious-humour, American comic at all. George made you question things. His arguments were well reasoned - yet still funny and whether you agreed with him or not, he made you think....which was probably the point. A great...and intelligent, comedian.
