Tip for building this in 1.15+: You can now use invisibility potions to prevent the guardians from shooting at you. This helps greatly when digging out the temple.
Hey Cub, I found some other guardian designs, that had different kill chambers. Which made me think. Since you are a bit of a game mechanic wiz, could you make a video with kill chamber ideas for farms? I.e. skelly, zombie, spider farms etc. With interesting toggleable kill chambers that make them more fun and also efficient?
Some exact numbers for those wondering, at least for the actual funnel area (not including the water tube, I haven’t gotten that far yet.) Fence gates = 1,248, or 19.5 stacks Soul sand = 1,152, or 18 stacks Glass = 996 or 15 stacks + 36 more blocks if you’re using just glass, 378 or 5 stacks + 58 if you’re using panes (378 / 6 = 63 glass blocks in each of the six slots used for panes. 63 * 16 = 1,008 or 15 stacks + 48 panes.) Slabs = 1,292 = 646 of your preferred block for the slab, or 10 stacks + 6. I hope this helps you guys out.
Some tips for people wanting to build this is survival: -1 fence gate = 1 log block -don't open all your fence gates at once, use them to stand on while building the other tiers -you can grab source blocks of water from the middle of each stream -you can use one layer of lava at the very top of the tube and have it drop only 14 blocks
I built this and I've got another tip that might be useful. You can fill the floor with dirt (1 block lower than you would place the soul sand) instead of soul sand and place kelp on the entire floor. This can be a much easier way to fill the entire area with water sources, as you can simply fish or go afk for a while and then just remove the kelp and place soul sand on top of the dirt. I've been afk for a few hours (in a safe place) and finished the farm when I came back. Feels much easier.
Thomas That wouldn’t be entirely necessary, since soul sand turns all water blocks above it (flowing or not) into source blocks. I only know cause I’ve made too many water elevators.
58*54 3200 fence gates = 3200 logs = 50 stacks 2912 pieces of soul sand = 45,5 stacks 3132 slabs = 48 stacks + 60 slabs 2836 cyan stained glass = 220(funnel) + 2628(walls) - 12(hole) = 44 stacks + 20 glass (the walls are 12 blocks high and start on the block above the water level) 2836/8 = 354,5 = 355(cyan dye) = 5 stacks + 35 dye 355/2 = 177,5 = 178(cactus green and blue dye respectivly) = 2 stacks and 50 dye (of each dye, not both) 2840(sand or glass) = 44 stacks + 24 (there will be 4 leftover pieces of glass) (the base floor will be removed and is therefor not factored in.) hope this can help anybody who doesnt want to do the math. btw my design of the funnel costs 220 glass, make your own however you like. pls like so others can see, thx
by which direction is it 58 and which 54? or does it matter? i just layed out a 58*58 area and checked the 4x8 and 8x8 fence gate areas (because ive built the smaller version before) and there was excess by 3 on the 8x8 sides and an excess of 2 on the 4x8 line.
If you add dispensers at the water source blocks in the killing chamber you can turn the water on and off, and therefore switching between XP-farm and automatic mode, because they should die of falldamage, after taken lava damage.
@@abondonedchannel6870 Guardians, like Endermen, require a higher fall height per sé, but still take damage, hence this system where they fall and take enough damage as to only need one swordswipe. I believe for a full deadly fall, Guardians need 32 blocks. :)
_stoner04 I’m on PS4 and spent the last 2 hours placing the fences as they have very strange mechanics now as you can’t just crouch and place them together they have to be on a block so that means you have to constantly break them and put them back to add the water but yes it works
so my friend and i were making this farm and i was in charge of gathering the fences. my friend is dyslexic btw. so he reads 1200 fence gates as 12000 fence gates. he's super certain of this and i (for some reason) never bothered to check. so i make ALL the fence gates and then after a while my friend says "so we actually only need 1200 and not 12000". so i ended up with 10800 extra spruce fence gates and i ended up opening a shop that sells exclusively spruce fence gates. any suggestions for things that use 10800 fence gates?
There is an argument to be had about putting down the slab roof last, after tearing down the monument and filling it back up with water, as the slabs increase the guardian spawns inside the (open) monument.
Survival tips: - I used potions of invisibility to work on the structure without being bothered by the guardians. It probably took me about 20 or so potions but it was worth it. - To make it easier to fill the upper area with water source blocks, I placed ice blocks around the edge as I was building the walls above the water then broke them from the bottom up (source blocks will be created if the water isn't flowing down). I also placed ice blocks above the gates to make the water flows - it's much easier to break ice blocks than it is to place water against a gate, while being pushed. 😊
Detzpheefe yes I’m building this in my Survival all I am missing is to clear out the rest of the monument. Dont drain the inside of the monument put down a haste 2 beacon wear just an aqua infinity helmet and invisible potion. Instant mine without the fear of gaurdians attacking you no need for sponges not to mention you won’t have to backfill with water.
@@detzpheefe5785 yes it does. me and my friend just finished building it. We also decided to do it the harder way with default armour and clear the monument first. t was harsh, but plausible.

I just made this is my 1.15.2 survivalworld. (It works) here are some tips. 1: Sponges are your best friend, get as many as you can 2: watch your pickaxe! I broke 2 God picks making this 3: use a conduit 4: invisibility potions are needed 100% 5: make sure you have time on your hands because it took me 2 days of grinding and 10-20 hours of work (I’m on single player) 6: use a beacon, haste 2 will make digging super easy 7: have good enchants, depth strider 3, respiration 3, efficiency 5, etc. 8: you can only wear 1 price of armor when invisible, when you are building, wear depth strider, when mining, use respiration Have fun and good luck!
hey can you help me with something? i made the farm on a 1.15.2 survival server and most of the guardians die in the lava because they try to swim up it. please help, i spent 2 days on it and now it doesnt work for that reason.
Thank you for not only giving us a list of the supplies needed, but a visual picture as well of what it looks like in our inventory. This is so helpful in being able to plan and execute this build. THANK YOU!!!
its about a double chest of logs to make the 58x58 version and that only took me like an hour and i also have loads of space where forest used to be now
7:24 You're making a mistake there that you later correct without telling anyone. You're saying "an additional 7 fence gates" but you're only adding 6, because you start counting from 2. So you're actually only adding 6 more, which means you only have 7 fence gates. Later at 7:50 when we see what you have done, it's actually 8x8 like you originally said, so you added another row of fence gates that you previously forgot.
I have a SP world that I have been building for several years and this guardian farm design is the center piece of my giant star shaped ocean mega base. TL;DR yes it works in 1.20@@theflowerflora518
7:22 "Additional seven. Two, three, four, five, six, seven" The problem here is that he put additional 6. So there were only 7 in total instead of 8 So now I just have 4x8 in the middle. Between 7x8 and 8x8 around both of these sides
That would still be very helpful as it would still eliminate the need to clear the area with sand and/or sponges. You could just add a dirt layer near the top and have a one or two layer deep farm. Those are still super fast.
Brett Weishalla what do you mean by dirt layer? I saw another guy say something about covering the whole temple in souldsand istead of clearing it out, would that work?
thank you Cubfan this farm worked on the smp i’m on and truely grateful for this build as the other builds i tried didn’t work. The mob rate for this one is so high i don’t need to buy extra in game server spawners
Find an island close by plant a bunch of sapling of favored type, collect as needed, plant new saplings all around as they fall from leaves, and have some bone meal handy to get the last few blocks you need for the next section, working 64 gates at a time.
Take cubs advice about invisibility potions... Makes life So much easier, especially if you're gonna cover the monument in soul sand, and live inside it. Turn particles off, that's a must if you don't have a better than average PC.
Not with a full 32x32 piece of soul sand, you just need to checkered pattern the soul sand. And remove all the surrounding waters spawning spaces you can do that by coveringing the area in soul sand.
For the last step when you place all the soul sand, turn down your particles. It will help A LOT. I went from around 26 fps to 104 after I minimized it.
I'm starting one too, I was thinking of bringing the guardians up with another water stream to put the killing chamber maybe 30 blocks or so above the center of the farm to save on loading unnecessary caves while running the thing.
that's my idea i will probably set the all part of the monument, glass everything around and give it a nice touch on the top :) i have another guardian farm but definitelly this one take advantage of the all place of the monument
You don't have to sponge and clear the sea temple, just mine the whole thing up and grow seaweed on the perimeter of your farm to fix any water source blocks.
Michal Hudák yes, as long as there is water source blocks around the perimeter of the monument you can just mine the temple and it will fill in itself. To be extra sure you can use kept on the perimeter too around the templ.
Tips from someone who built the 58 by 58 version of this in 1.16.3. Conduit definitely the best option, and it gives aqua affinity, but if you can't get one, you can wear a helmet with aqua affinity, water breathing potions, and a haste 2 beacon eff 5 pick to insta mine blocks (you need to be standing on the ground in water), You can use invisibility potions if you are only wearing a helmet, and the guardians won't even notice you (I didn't get hit a single time from a guardian while using this method). You don't need to clear the water from the monument, just clear monument from the outside and place kelp all the way up to the collection area on two sides of the square spawning area (this will make it all sources), if your farm is not as efficient as you hoped just light up surrounding islands and caves. Good luck guys!
@@luuk9759 so basically when you clear out the monument you will be left with non water source blocks, which is bad because the bubble elevators need all source blocks... so the easiest way to fill in the source blocks, is to use kelp... the kelp needs to be placed on 2 full sides/edges of the spawning square from the bottom, all the way up to the funnel area, so that the sources filled out completely, you'll know if this worked when you place some of the soul sand, it should carry you all the way up, with sources to just beneath the fence fates .let me know if this helped.
@@luuk9759 if you want to be safe you can put it in all sides, or just any 2 sides that join in a corner... once you have all the kelp placed in it should all be sources and you can remove the kelp
Just made one in the new snapshots. There are some changes! Lava will not work because the guardians will not fall through, you must use fall damage, roughly 28-30 blocks will make the guardians one hit. You can use invisibility potions with one piece of armor and guardians will not attack you so can you place blocks and destroy the monument. Other than that, the rest of the farm still works!
Great design! The two water sources at the bottom of the drop can be replaced with dispensers and water buckets to make an easily togglable afk farm if you dont need the xp! simply press the button to remove the water and the drop kills the guardians, press the button again and the water reappears for the xp version.
found a double ocean monument yesterday, and they're perfectly lined up guess I'm gonna one of the most efficient xp farms in game once I'm set up in this new world
I was wondering, why is going to the nether, placing, and breaking, better then trow in a hopper furnese, where u take out dry ones, put in wet, use them, and when ur back the ones in the furnes are dry again,
@@martinroosjen Mostly because it's instant and you don't have to spend fuel. Then again, fuel should be more than plentiful by the time you get sponges.
What I learned building a 56 x 56 of spawn-able area... 1. An 8 wide center funnel works perfectly with the side funnels fitting perfectly. 2. I kept the gates closed until I filled in the upper section. 3. I should have removed the blocks at the lowest level towards the outer edge and filled it with water. Most of them didn't become source blocks when we remove the outer shell of the monument. I had to go back and fill them in with water. 4. Using basic ice blocks is better than dirt. When you remove them, use a non-silk touch pick axe and they will become water source blocks. We had the guardians floating at the dirt level. I had to add them after the guardians stopped around ocean level, then add kelp to fill in any non-source blocks. 5. I put a glass wall which kept them contained and allowed us to trouble shoot. The first try was a bit disappointing, but after testing the world download in 1.13.1 and seeing it worked... I discovered the lack of source blocks mentioned above was the issue. I took me some time, but I was determined to get it working. Now it's raining guardians from above!
Odedge Gaming hey in case you’re seeing this, I’m currently building the farm and concerned about removing the outer layer because some blocks that I remove don’t become source blocks. Would you use kelp or is there another method? (Didn’t understand yours for the bottom) thanks!
@@Sprocket_777 My tunnel is 23 blocks long that uses one water source starting just after the fence gates. It drops three levels and then drops the guardians in a 2 x 8 lava pool to the bottom floor which is the player standing on level 29. This will kill them instantly for AFKing. I also have a button that will dispense water for killing them manually .
I just built this in 1.14.4 and it works great! I did the full 58x58 but with a checkerboard pattern with the soul sand to minimize lag. A few guardians manage to fit in the gaps between the soul sand, but I still am getting plenty in the kill chamber per minute. I would recommend the checkerboard pattern to anyone on larger servers or if you just have a slower computer that can't deal with the lag. ** To anyone having issues with the soul sand, you need water source blocks all the way up to the full height of the farm for the bubble columns to work. If there is any waterlogged(flowing water) blocks then the bubble column will break making the farm seem useless. **
FYI for PS4 players and probably Xbox too, you will have to place blocks beneath the fence gates when placing them and then remove the blocks. We can’t just place floating gates like pc
Just built this farm in my 1.16 Java world! Works extremely well. I didn't have a conduit when I built it, but for most of it I was able to make use of a respiration III and aqua affinity helmet and depth strider III boots. For some of the later parts (filling the monument back up and putting in the soul sand) I ended up using night vision, water breathing, and invisibility potions. When I kept my helmet on for aqua affinity, guardians generally didn't notice me. IMO invisibility potions are a must have lol I also used a ton more glass than was listed here, but I also made the collection tube slightly longer.
@@auston124 I actually played around with it. Any lower and they die. Seems the perfect height. They were a bit easier to kill when there was the water stream. bouncing around a lot now. But it's ok.
@@leostrangman sadly I dont think there is a way to really get around the thorns damage on a farm like this. One thing that helps is building a regen beacon nearby.
@@monketakingyoutoparadise5609 It does take long, but I had REALLY bad luck when it comes to the delivery tube. I made the tube three segments, unlike Cub who made it two. My tube went straight down into a ravine and I had to improvise a room on top of the hole, then I realised I made a mistake so the room went even deeper, I ran out of resources and the room is made of like 6 different materials. Still, te most annoying part to me is actually taking the monument down. To set the perimeter you have to take care of a shitload of guardian since they can no longer spawn in the monument, and you have to take down thousands of blocks, and TNT isn't even that efficient. Also yout pickaxe suffers and your inventory fills up so you have to pack shulker boxes
@@monketakingyoutoparadise5609 Honestly I don't know REMOTELY how long it took me to drain it. Also, how did you get 42 sponges???? How does one physically find that many monuments???

Chessur like what were the road bumps, I herd that mobs don’t spawn in bubble Columns anymore. So what did you do for that. What platform do you play on?
@@bluwith10us what the op is saying is that destroying the whole monunent will fill all of the air blocks with water so filling it before destroying will most likely just waste your time
For anyone wondering, we just finished this on 1.17.1, works great. A few tips I'd have: 1. Use invisibility potions (and make sure you take your armour off). The guardian swarms are so much trouble you can barely break a block without being attacked, but invisibility potions mean they will just ignore you. Just don't forget to drink another potion when it's about to run out! 2. Rather than using sponges and draining the monument first, we broke it up and then planted kelp (kelp replaces falling water with water sources when it grows). Had to wait a while for it (we ended up using zillions of bone meal) but it did the job. When it's grown all the way to the top you break it and then you can put the soul sand down, and your bubble columns should reach to the top. 3. I didn't realise until about halfway through that you can place gates (and water sources) against other gates by holding down shift (On Java edition - on other versions it's probably whatever the sneak button is). If you don't use shift you just open/shut the gates, I wasted far too long doing this! 4. The guardians seemed to die in the lava a lot for some reason, and so it took us about 6 minutes to get from level 0 to 30. We might have just missed something off but I replaced the lava with a drop instead (you have to drop them 32 blocks), took the water out at the bottom, and this works fine. We now get from 0 to 30 in about 3 and a half minutes.
I found a few problems with this design, if youre using the smaller version of the farm the guardians that spawn outside the bubble collums never get into the killing area and are just taking the mob gap so eventually no guardians will be spawning and the other problem is that many of the guardians die in the lava if they swim upwards in the lava
This is the farm you built with Iskall right? Also, extremely well done. The farm is fast, quick to build, and does not use as many resources.Just overall, well done.
Working great in Java 1.15.1. Although, a lot of the guardians try swimming up out of the lava and end up burning to death before they fall through. I added some dispensers with buckets for the water at the bottom, so if you want to switch to "AFK item collection" mode, just remove the water.
@@soundye I don't give out contact info publicly, and what exactly are you asking that I'm sure about? The rates? I'm definitely getting 30 levels in a couple minutes, if that's what you're wondering.
This is a great design. The only thing is that the guardian were swimming in the lava and dying before they fell to the bottom even with only one lava layer so I used fall damage for my killing mechanism. I used this to make a monument replica on land and to continuously mend my tools
Robert Hemsley no, guardians spawn I. A certain 58 by 58 block radius and would still spawn if the entire monument was destroyed. I built replica of a monument on land and they therefore do not spark.
I did the math (correctly, hopefully) to help the people (and myself) making this in survival. To make the 32*36 version as shown in the video, you need: 18 stacks of soul sand 19 stacks +5 (blocks) of slabs 19 stacks +32 of fence gates 10 blocks of obsidian (for lava) 44 stacks of a building material (at least-you should bring more) 2 diamond pickaxes 8 buckets 1 potion of fire resistance 4 chests 1 stack of food a lot of patience To stay completely safe of the guardians, you may want to bring: ~5 potions of invisibility ~5 potions of night vision ~5 potions of water breathing 1 conduit 1 trident 1 stack of TNT 1 stack of sand 1 flint and steel Placing sand on top of TNT allows the TNT to mine underwater.
Can confirm that this works in 1.16.5, and specifically in Vault Hunters as well. I needed to step away for a while after I finished so I put some Bamboo spikes from the Decoration mod at the bottom to finish them off instead of using a sword. It work very well as an AFK farm that way as well!
Is it really necessary to use 24 lava source blocks in the kill trap? Seems to me that 2 lava sources in the top opposite corners will create a lava flow/fall that fills the 24 block space. Since lava damage doesn't matter if it's flow or source blocks, I think it'll save a survival player 22 unnecessary buckets. I could be wrong. EDIT: I WAS wrong! Requires a minimum of 4 buckets in the top layer of lava.
Haha I think you were actually right though, if you placed signs below the top layer of lava, let the lava flow over them, then destroy the signs, the lava will flow down all 3 layers with only 2 buckets. You might burn those signs though
Just a tip: do 2 layers of lava INSTEAD of 3 because with 3 a lot of the guardians die in the lava therefore slowing your rate down (i built this in 1.14.4 ) and for some reason the guardians when they fall in the lava try to swim up, therefore a lot of them are dying. Anyway making the lava layer thinner worked for me. :)
Not a good idea. Go build a zombie or skeleton grinder first. Then once you’ve mastered those I recommend building and Enderman farm, then Guardian farm.
1.13.2 here, Java edition, SURVIVAL MODE. Just did this farm for the entire monument - all 58x58 of it! In survival mode! Surrounded the monument with sand walls, then dried out the entire building, inside and outsie, with sponges. Teared it down, builded up the farm following cubfan135's instructions. Two very important lessons: the hardest part was how to refill the entire pool with water, because the re-appearing guardians gives a really hard time. Solution: rise ice columns on two adjacent sides of the walls (every second place is enough, but must have to include the corners). Make them reach from bottom to top, then break them from bottom to top. This turns them to water source blocks, and everything will became water sourse block in the inside as well. Much faster than buckets! Also, have a regeneration beacon above the farm, and potions at hand (healing, water breathing, night vision). Second: when I broke the dirt layer between the empty area and the one with the fence gates, they didn't convert to source blocks! There wasn't any visible clue for this, but the bubble columns stopped right where the dirt was. Solution: use the ice trick again: put ice against the walls, at the same level where the dirt was. Again, two adjacent walls are enough, but always include the corner spots. Then break them, which turns the entire layer to water sources. Now the bubble columns reaches the fence gates. After all this, the farm works wonderfully! Insane amount of xp and materials! I send my blaze farm to retirement...
HyperDoge He wished my boyfriend luck with building it, and then I said that I probably also need the luck because I will be helping him too. That's it, hihi ^-^
@@RegainRiOT that's because the water on top aren't all source blocks. they say that you can grow kelp in those areas to make them all water source blocks though. or if you're lazy just use the /fill command

I’m on bedrock and when I try to place the water on the fence gates like he does at 11:50, the water goes through the fence gate. Anyone know how to fix this, or have I just wasted the last 4 hours gathering materials for 1,200 fence gates... Edit: It took a bit of extra work, but this farm is possible on bedrock...the issues are: 1. You can’t place fence gates unless they are on a block and 2. The water placed on a fence gate must first be placed on a block, but the block can then be broken and replaced by a fence gate to create the stream. Hope this helps anyone that is on bedrock and sees this (but no one probably will...) Second Edit: I finished building the whole farm on bedrock and my rates are terrible...I went afk for about 30 minutes and only got 1-2 guardians...I made sure to create water source blocks so that the guardians could spawn, and I made the farm exactly how cub did, but my rates are still awful which really saddens me because I think it’s due to the fact I’m on bedrock edition...side note I only play on hard mode because there’s no other way to play survival, so spawn rates should be high...Anyone have any suggestions?
Jacob Morningstar the equation for mob spawning on bedruck is actual garbage, here are some fixes that come to mind: If you have a roof, remove it, ANYTHING spawning under ANY block, even if its just 1, is considered a cave spawn.Guardians dont spawn in cave spawn areas so tye guardians you were getting may have just wandered into your trap. Also, try to make it so that the guardians can only spawn in the bubles by making the farm at full size.
PluckyRaccoon 06 thank you so much! I put the roof of half slabs like cub said so that makes complete sense...I will just build up the walls a bit more to make sure the guardians don’t escape.
Can guardians even spawn in bubbles in bedrock? I made this in it on creative and only saw natural spawns outside of the soul sand. Tried to use an egg and could not use it in the bubble either...only right above them if I went above the fences.
I built this on bedrock s as well and nothing at all spawns inside it ive cought more drowns in it then guardians was thinking about trying every other block for soul sand or do 2rows with then 2 rows without maybe?
this works with signs too. Signs only use about half the resources of fence gates. Be aware that fence gates cant be waterlogged, but signs can, so use a fence gate when you would make an infinite water source.
I made this as my first xp farm in my 1.13 survival, it's perfect, so efficient. Thanks for the design! :) Pd: dolphins are getting into it, I feel like a bad person :(
I am having issues with this, 80% of the guardians just settle right outside the perimeter of the of soul sand. Is there anything I can do to make this more effective or just upscale to the entire spawn radius?
@@connoralderson6074 It does work, try using the world download. There is one thing that needs fixing though: you need to remove the lava and put slabs instead of water on top of the hoppers

A guardian farm that works well and requires 0 sand placement. Thank you Cub!
Survival tips:
- I used potions of invisibility to work on the structure without being bothered by the guardians.

You're making a mistake there that you later correct without telling anyone.

You don't have to sponge and clear the sea temple, just mine the whole thing up and grow seaweed on the perimeter of your farm to fix any water source blocks.
So you mean that easier is to mine the whole ocean monument??
Michal Hudák yes, as long as there is water source blocks around the perimeter of the monument you can just mine the temple and it will fill in itself. To be extra sure you can use kept on the perimeter too around the templ.

I was planing on clearing the monument out putting kelp in and then soul sand
Can u elaborate on where the kelp is supposed to be?
@@luuk9759 so basically when you clear out the monument you will be left with non water source blocks, which is bad because the bubble elevators need all source blocks... so the easiest way to fill in the source blocks, is to use kelp... the kelp needs to be placed on 2 full sides/edges of the spawning square from the bottom, all the way up to the funnel area, so that the sources filled out completely, you'll know if this worked when you place some of the soul sand, it should carry you all the way up, with sources to just beneath the fence fates .let me know if this helped.

@@odedgegaming182 Thanks for the info!
**
To anyone having issues with the soul sand, you need water source blocks all the way up to the full height of the farm for the bubble columns to work. If there is any waterlogged(flowing water) blocks then the bubble column will break making the farm seem useless.
**
some say they're just cutting down the Amazon to get fencegates for this farm.
FYI for PS4 players and probably Xbox too, you will have to place blocks beneath the fence gates when placing them and then remove the blocks. We can’t just place floating gates like pc
PC is ambiguous, since PC has both the java and bedrock version.
Does the farm still work tho
Just built this farm in my 1.16 Java world! Works extremely well. I didn't have a conduit when I built it, but for most of it I was able to make use of a respiration III and aqua affinity helmet and depth strider III boots. For some of the later parts (filling the monument back up and putting in the soul sand) I ended up using night vision, water breathing, and invisibility potions. When I kept my helmet on for aqua affinity, guardians generally didn't notice me. IMO invisibility potions are a must have lol
I also used a ton more glass than was listed here, but I also made the collection tube slightly longer.
Simple fix to get this working in 1.15. Remove the lava, and replace the water on the hoppers with half slabs. Instantly fixed it for me.

No wonder this farm took Iskall and Cub 24HR on building it is freaking AWSOME
I've been working on mine for like 10 hours and I just finished draining the monument
Mostly Important draining the monument is probably the most time consuming
Mostly Important lol and it only took 2 hours for me to drain with 42 sponges

Bon Orange roads bumps where me forgetting steps. Mobs do still spawn in bubble columns on java which is what I play.
Oh, okay. I play on console. Thanks anyway.
why do you have to fill the monument with water? if you destroy the monument entirely then it should fill with source blocks
I think it’s so the guardians don’t kill you while you’re breaking the monument
nope, it dont fill with source blocks. well, if you destroy it ENTIERLY, then it will, but not if you destroy a hole in it.
Another reason is because the soul sand wont function without actual water blocks, flowing water wont work.
I think guardians wont spawn if theres no water inside the monument which is why ya need to do it (doing it rn and i see no guardians so just a guess)
@@bluwith10us what the op is saying is that destroying the whole monunent will fill all of the air blocks with water so filling it before destroying will most likely just waste your time
For anyone wondering, we just finished this on 1.17.1, works great. A few tips I'd have:
So do you recommend just going for the 56x56?
This is the farm you built with Iskall right? Also, extremely well done. The farm is fast, quick to build, and does not use as many resources.Just overall, well done.
Tarquin Smith this is better, efficient more resource friendly, no extreme auto sand placing contraption, just fantastac and easier to make

Working great in Java 1.15.1. Although, a lot of the guardians try swimming up out of the lava and end up burning to death before they fall through. I added some dispensers with buckets for the water at the bottom, so if you want to switch to "AFK item collection" mode, just remove the water.

Robert Hemsley no, guardians spawn I. A certain 58 by 58 block radius and would still spawn if the entire monument was destroyed. I built replica of a monument on land and they therefore do not spark.
Howdy guys, welcome to a QUICK tutoria- **sees 37minute video**
I did the math (correctly, hopefully) to help the people (and myself) making this in survival.
To make the 32*36 version as shown in the video, you need:
18 stacks of soul sand
19 stacks +5 (blocks) of slabs
19 stacks +32 of fence gates
10 blocks of obsidian (for lava)
44 stacks of a building material (at least-you should bring more)
2 diamond pickaxes
8 buckets
1 potion of fire resistance
4 chests
1 stack of food
a lot of patience
To stay completely safe of the guardians, you may want to bring:
~5 potions of invisibility
~5 potions of night vision
~5 potions of water breathing
1 conduit
1 trident
1 stack of TNT
1 stack of sand
1 flint and steel
Placing sand on top of TNT allows the TNT to mine underwater.
Ness from Mother 2 does it still work on ps4
@@MegaCaptainGold Idek. I play Java. Does PS4 have an "update 1.14?"
Oh, ps4 doesn’t have java but thanks
@@MegaCaptainGold I believe PS4 has ocean monuments. Some gameplay mechanics may be different but I'm pretty sure the farm works.
ik im late but a quick reply would be nice is the 44 stacks of building material glass
Can confirm that this works in 1.16.5, and specifically in Vault Hunters as well. I needed to step away for a while after I finished so I put some Bamboo spikes from the Decoration mod at the bottom to finish them off instead of using a sword. It work very well as an AFK farm that way as well!
Why do you need to drain the ocean monument just to flood it again? Wouldn't it be more efficient just to break out the area and leave the water?
I dont think they all become source blocks that way
@@vikrambalaji4126 they do. He's probably doing it the other way because it's way too long to mine under water without aqua affinity
I'm dying, that edit was perfect
After reading all the thing i love the edit lol
Haha I think you were actually right though, if you placed signs below the top layer of lava, let the lava flow over them, then destroy the signs, the lava will flow down all 3 layers with only 2 buckets. You might burn those signs though
According to Gnembon's video using Sea Lanterns instead of slabbed roof improve spawn rates in 1.16+

Xp10d3 aww man
Xp10d3 is that really how it works? Cause I did that on PS4 and the farm isn’t working
Me and my friend made a huge version of this it took us 8 hours straight but we get great drops also great tutorial.
Meme Shack thank you I was wondering what my problem was
If i make alll the lava, a source block. Will that make them not swim?
@@Ibadkhanssj4 you should make every block a lava source block but just do 2 layers of that instead of 3
does it work for 1.14?
yes
I've never even built an xp farm in a spawner room, so I'm taking this on as my first project. This is going to be interesting...
Jessica Durn reply if it goes well
Yeah
Not a good idea. Go build a zombie or skeleton grinder first. Then once you’ve mastered those I recommend building and Enderman farm, then Guardian farm.
How'd it go?
Oh no... my boyfriend is totally set to build this asap now XD Thanks for the great tutorial!
Wens hem succes xD
Ik heb waarschijnlijk net zoveel succes nodig omdat hij wil dat ik help :P Maar thanks though! We gaan het zeker nodig hebben!
Kira Groenewegen haha allebei sterkte dan

HyperDoge He wished my boyfriend luck with building it, and then I said that I probably also need the luck because I will be helping him too. That's it, hihi ^-^
I Was going to build this! I was waiting for a tutorial
For anyone asking, yes this build still works as of 1.14.4 just as well. Didn't have to modify the farm at all
@@RegainRiOT that's because the water on top aren't all source blocks. they say that you can grow kelp in those areas to make them all water source blocks though. or if you're lazy just use the /fill command
@@RegainRiOT Must've been quite some work, huh XD. Glad to hear!
PS4 FIX-This system will work if you place slabs then water on top. Brake the slab and the water should flow like on the video. FLACE SLABS OVER THE FENCE GATES WERE HE PLACES WATER
SoLWest _Outcast works on java edition 1.14 though
@@a_marc Do you know a fix for playstation?
I used to play mine craft PlayStation but I don’t know. I’m very sorry ☹️
Put a slab on top of fence then place water in slabs
I got u
I’m on bedrock and when I try to place the water on the fence gates like he does at 11:50, the water goes through the fence gate. Anyone know how to fix this, or have I just wasted the last 4 hours gathering materials for 1,200 fence gates...
Edit: It took a bit of extra work, but this farm is possible on bedrock...the issues are: 1. You can’t place fence gates unless they are on a block and 2. The water placed on a fence gate must first be placed on a block, but the block can then be broken and replaced by a fence gate to create the stream. Hope this helps anyone that is on bedrock and sees this (but no one probably will...)
Second Edit: I finished building the whole farm on bedrock and my rates are terrible...I went afk for about 30 minutes and only got 1-2 guardians...I made sure to create water source blocks so that the guardians could spawn, and I made the farm exactly how cub did, but my rates are still awful which really saddens me because I think it’s due to the fact I’m on bedrock edition...side note I only play on hard mode because there’s no other way to play survival, so spawn rates should be high...Anyone have any suggestions?
Cristian Babencu just use / locate
Jacob Morningstar the equation for mob spawning on bedruck is actual garbage, here are some fixes that come to mind:
If you have a roof, remove it, ANYTHING spawning under ANY block, even if its just 1, is considered a cave spawn.Guardians dont spawn in cave spawn areas so tye guardians you were getting may have just wandered into your trap.
I built this on bedrock s as well and nothing at all spawns inside it ive cought more drowns in it then guardians was thinking about trying every other block for soul sand or do 2rows with then 2 rows without maybe?
quick tip use kelp to make all the water source blocks
My Guardians need like 10 seconds every time to spawn and in hermitcraft its like non-stop dropping guardians
mobs spawn more often on hard mode, which they play on
cant you just break the entire temple (the space needed) instead of clearing the inside out and filling it with water
?
you can break it thats what i did (1.14)
Breaking is very slow underwater
@@swagzy4720 ever heard of haste and efficiency?
@@balder3375 still slower underwater.
Swagzy Aqua affinity on your helmet will let you break blocks the same speed as on land
this works with signs too. Signs only use about half the resources of fence gates. Be aware that fence gates cant be waterlogged, but signs can, so use a fence gate when you would make an infinite water source.
27:56 dont think about me, personal timestamp
Mr Myren ok
ok
Does it work?
I made this as my first xp farm in my 1.13 survival, it's perfect, so efficient. Thanks for the design! :)
Pd: dolphins are getting into it, I feel like a bad person :(
If you have difficulties with the water source part, then use Frost Walker, after the ice breaks, it turns into a water source block
would you do the water streams the same with a 58x58 design?
Yes
I am having issues with this, 80% of the guardians just settle right outside the perimeter of the of soul sand. Is there anything I can do to make this more effective or just upscale to the entire spawn radius?
Mick McCormick you could drain out the surrounding area
Or remove all blocks that are blocking sunlight from the rest of the temple
When filling up the temple you can just do the first layer then cover the floor with kelp to make full water sources
Now we know why there was no HC episode yesterday.
How could i turn this into a an xp farm like it is, but then also have the ability to afk at the farm and collect the drops?
Dispensers for the water sources in the killing chamber!
Magma blocks at the bottom
Amazing Farm! Never build a guardian farm before and now we have all the lanterns!!
The guardians swim the other direction making it very long to get them to fall down
Same I need help with that
Iv been doing a big project everyday, this is going to be a great project! #quarantinethings
Nmorf87 Everyday does it work in 1.15
Did it work??
does it work in 1.15??
I tried this in creative and unfortunately guardians get stuck at the fence gates and don't flow uplike they should🙄
@@connoralderson6074 It does work, try using the world download. There is one thing that needs fixing though: you need to remove the lava and put slabs instead of water on top of the hoppers
Legend says Cub is still placing fence gates
It took me about 4 or 5 days, but it was worth it :)
