- Falkirk says thank you to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders battalion in one of its last official parades before it becomes a light infantry company.
Respect to these soldier. Just a pitty that the pipes and drums are accompanied by the brass.
A fine Regiment, excellent at dealing with the Arab (historically)
My old regiment 2 platoon A company
91/93 Argyll and Sutherland highlanders.
Onwards and upwards bro in arms.
F Thompson/skin head.
Greatest respect from an Englishman.
Mitch would be happy🏴🥃
You don't tell an Officer to move "you move"
@Mitch Wild If you listen carefully you will hear me ask politely "excuse me" I never asked him to move. Only i will know what i was going to ask him but he ignored me. Not a problem as he was busy keeping the line.
He was a CSM, Company Sergeant Major
Not an Officer
Admiration for the Scots from a Greek
Indeed he would. Our friend, Alistair was the Warrant Officer when they were at Plymouth barracks. We had many a 'fun' time at the Ladies nights in the Officers Mess. Mitch wasn't known as 'Mad Mitch', for nothing.
Why is the British Government reducing the Scottish regiments so much? I'm a curious Canadian.
Mind your own business
@@Michael-ek4xc Hmmm! Ok! Not the reply I expected though! Lol!
Part of an Army wide reorganisation. Smaller full-time component, bigger reliance on reserves and, it is said, more security with postings and better training opportunities for larger formations, rather than individual, and mostly under-strength, battalions.
@@Tourist1967Thank you!
There are some rude people getting in the way. Find that rather disgusting
Great turnout lads!☺👍
My deepest respect! from the U,S.A with Scottish Ancestry.
Finishing with Highland Cathedral - superb. Long live the Argylls in Scottish memories.
Yes - Superb, Long live The Argyles in ALL British memories.

💯"TRUE HISTORY"🌹👍🍻🥩🇺🇲
I had the pleasure and the honour to serve with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Edinburgh when Jim Mc Bain was QM,Shuggy Ballantine was RSM and CO was Lt.Col Graham (later General if I believe correctly),I can honestly say it was without a doubt the best unit I had served with in my 22 years in the Army. It's a shame to see them reduced to a small company strength.
Me too - Dave Osborne (RIP) was Master Chef and we were deployed to Kenya and witnessed the Colours presented by Madge at Redford!
@@romeo9017Is Dave dead?He was my Boss as well. I was there for that one, chuckin' it down with rain,I remember going straight to the Falklands that day, didn't see my bed for nearly 2 days.Don't remember your name though, but I'm at that age now.
(Posted by Rick Pickell) Hearing both the bag-piipes and the March stirs something within me. Like I need to stand up just work and stomp someone's arse into the ground til they can't move. Why is that!?? Hearing it all makes me just a little nutty. 🥴🤪🤨 The music just stirs some deep hidden emotions. They sound awesome. But just can't figure out why I react this way.
Right on Scottish black man in full effect boy!!!!
🙄🤡🙄
Sharp drill too men!
My dad still has dreams PTSD Falkland Islands
You mean the MoD is going to squeeze a whole battalion down into a mere company ... and only light at that?
HI TOM , I Just Came Across Your Video after all this time. ---- Yes ,I have watched many Vid's as re. The Various Scottish Regiments over the years. --- I thought that your Introduction to this Video. Was / is Very interesting asto what happened to the Soldiers after they were broken up & disbanded as THE A & S. Highlander's. ---- I know that they are now the Balaclava Regiment , what's left of them . Very sad the G.ment Cutting them all down. ------ Anyway , Many thinks for recording this . Have You got anymore of the A & S. H.Landers or the other regiments Marching in Your Hometown. ----- Tom , was that you saying Excuse me to the Officer before he walked off. ----- * was this the Final March of the & S. H.Landers. ----- Once again Many thanks . John in London.
Hi John - Glad you enjoyed my short movie - i have some footage of another parade with the A&SH when the battalion returned from a tour in Afghanistan but it is lying in the vault somewhere. Yeah that was me trying to excuse the fine gentleman from blocking my view. He had all of that road to stand to the side but chose to stand right in front of me. I needed to be polite in asking him to move as he had 350 of his mates with him on parade.
I think this was their second last parade before they moved onto Stirling.
Tom
Thanks for posting this, Tom, It’s a fine parade and the video has encouraged a few ignorant bigoted arseh*les to crawl out from under their rocks which is always nice. What do you think about the transfer of 1RRS to the new ‘Ranger’ regiment? Can’t be great for morale to lose all this proud tradition and esprit de corps if they are rebadged. What about the serving Celtic fans fans?
👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿🇬🇧

High honor to the free land of Scotland and eternal be his glory.
These men fought for that Union Flag !!!!

@@ericmcwilliams7629 So you think that they joined the BRITISH ARMED FORCES but didnt swear allegiance to the crown or promise to defend it ???
Off your meds by any chance ???
Didn't the Argyll and Sutherlands merge with the Gordon Highlanders to form the Queen's Own in 2006?
Definitely not local scottish recruitment...
Kin superb..👌SAOR ALBA GU BRATH 🏴🥃❤

Free Scotland,
Black highlanders🙂😃😀
😵 yes i see ! The end is near !
@@thebeastofbrayroad9382 yes...
Commonwealth recruits🙄🤡🙄
@Marko : Sorry to disappoint you but you are totally wrong. The British Armed Services recruit from Commonwealth Nations as ALL their Citizens have a "birth-right" to apply to join the British Armed Forces, provided they are of good character and with no criminal record at home. Once in the Regiment, future promotion is purely on ability. The Africans, along with the Fijians, tend to favour prestigious Regiments (like the Scottish ones) or the Brigade of Guards and Household Cavalry. While serving they retain their own Commonwealth Nationality and will hold their own passports as "not being a British Citizen" is not an issue. The issue is, who you can trust, and in a fire-fight you can trust these guys. This might interest you, ruclips.net/video/B8bN6-ThzPI/видео.html
Sorry if the aforesaid offends your sensitivities, get over it.
@@stuartmccall5474 🥰👍🥰
Some of them don't look as if they're even from Scotland!
And your point is? Racist?
Strange remark, the colored soldiers are from the Commonwealth Nations your point was, damn berkshire hunt.
@@katerinakemp5701 her point was she is a racist and was trying to hide it. Clearly she has no idea the roll commonwealth soldiers play in the British Army.
@@GazaLondon True enough...but I bet those soldiers are all Scotsmen (or at least Brits), regardless of ethnicity.
Why not? I bet if you spoke to them they'd have Scottish accents! (Or at least obvious Brit ones) So what if they are black? Not at all unusual in any British regiment surely... What century do YOU live in? The British Army has a much longer tradition than many (like you, obviously) think of multicultural make up....IIRC In that excellent book "Pegasus Bridge" (about the D-day coup de main glider operation by a company of the "Ox and Bucks") there is a bit where the men are blackening their faces for the night operation... "Darkie" Baines (one of several black guys in the unit according to the book) is offered the makeup/charcoal and says dryly "I don't think I'll bother"... Just brilliant.
More like the Angola and Sutherland highlanders.
Get over it lad
More like the black watch
Easy mistake to make Aj as both wear the same tartan - when worn by the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders , whereas with the Black Watch it is kilted to show the blue.
@@tomwheelan4259 I think you missed the joke Tom😂
Sorry Aj - I think it's you who has missed it
@@ajlook5457 I think Mr Wheelan knew it wasn't anywhere near a joke.
African regiment?
Seriously? What a stupid question!
Racist?
At least they're willing to fight for their country. Are you? I think its good to see
Jay mylotto that was out there, best you sign up yourself, picking you are a pink person still you are a person of color.
