I used to think BMTH was just another one of "those" bands. But I decided to truly give them a try and I must say this and get it off my chest. Every song on this album and Sempiternal is fucking amazing. These guys are incredibly talented at songwriting in my opinion. And fuck, there's so much emotion in these songs, it makes me emotional. I don't know if it's the way the guitar sounds coupled with Oli's unique voice and the lyrical meaning and the choirs in the background with the keyboard sounds too or if it's just something else, but this song always just feels so deep and powerful. A few songs off of Suicide Season are really good too. Drown is amazing. I can't fathom why I subconsciously thought this band was not good.
Leora Ojadi You said everything ! I thought this band was only screaming but I decided to try, and I was impressed because it is really very difficult to find band/ songs that arouse feelings !
I would say this album followed closely by Sempiternal, Suicide Season, Count Your Blessings then Thats the Spirit. Thats the Spirit wasn't a bad album but I felt like it was a weaker release, not necessarily because of the loss of their heavy sound. The only reason why I rated Suicide Season above Count Your Blessings is that for me, it was the beginning of their signature sound, even if Count Your Blessing is better technicality wise. Just my two cents. Hate me if you want.
As a child, I used to think metal music was nothing but screaming about death, something dark and dangerous I need to stay away from. So glad I grew up and understood how wrong this is, because this is AMAZING

I discovered this band when they launched Sempiternal, and suddenly I fell in love with them and I started to listen their old songs, I like pretty much the most of their songs, and seriously they become one of my favorites bands ever. Their lyrics are amazing... And I still discovering more songs of them. This is one of my favorites songs from BMTH.
ezekiel medrano Pray for Plague sounds generic to me. This song is super interesting and complex. Particularly a fan of the modified gospel/choir stuff in this. So that's my reasoning.
Count Your Blessings is average deathcore, most albums in the genre sound just like it. This song is of a totally different genre so pretty hard to compare.
This is why metal is, to me, the absolute greatest genre of music. All music can be wonderful and meaningful, but this to me goes beyond. Songs like this not only are lyrically powerful, they also use the energy and musical talent to match it. I love that people are starting to realize that more and more over time, rather than playing metal off like useless screaming for Satan.
When people say music is a work of art, this is what they are talking about. This song hits on so many levels and I can't count how many times I have found myself lost in this song. It brings me back to a darker time but much like the band itself, I have changed and I have grown with them.
What's the meaning of the cover? I feel it's showing two possibilities how to open the lock to the inner self (the opening of the lock leading to actions and consequences, thus being equal to deciding what kind of person one wants to be), a peaceful way (of acting, therefore living a good life) - symbolized by the key (and white part of the robe) - and a violent one, symbolized by the dagger (and black part of the robe). For me this includes also self-destruction vs. self-fulfilment
There's also the fact that only the left side is wounded by the dagger, while the lock is right in the middle. The key (or the good side) is only way to truly reveal the full inner self.
Right side of his body is wounded, damaged, its dirty and he holds a knife in his right hand. This part represents destruction, war, hell and the bad. Whilst left side skin is pure, untouched, smooth. He holds a key which represents the road for salvation, or opening of the gates of heaven. This theme goes by the choice of colour which is black and white. And mask covers his whole face, even is his eyes.thats how I interpret it.
This song takes me back to a familiar but dark part of my life. This album went hard and was the first relatable thing I had heard during those times. I’m thankful for that
Am I the only one that is so sad this never got an official music video? I can imagine the band playing in a castle of some sort and some main character standing on a cliff next to a wild and grey ocean. Then at 4:10 there camera circulates over Oli's eyes and a spiral staircase as well as the main character's eyes...idk it's just so perfect for this song..
Oddly enough, this song is so calming and easy to listen to. Oli and the band sure know what works best together in music. Definitely one of there best songs.
Ok. so I have a classmate and she's all like omg I love BMTH. Her Tumblr account is full of their posts and their lyrics but she doesn't even know from which songs they are and it really pisses me off. She posted the lyrics of crucify me and she said how much she loves the song. I asked her if she likes metal and she was like no ew wtf. I swear I was this close to slaping her
lol, for the longest time I never knew you could see the eyes in the mask. Just barely, if I stand up and look at a downward angle at my monitor. Anyway, this and Suicide Season are my favorite albums by these guys. Lovely.
I never gave BMTH a chance before and decided to listen to their discography. Glad I'm finally giving them a chance because they're not bad, but THIS SONG right here is fucking fantastic! I can't stop listening to it. It's perfect.
It's taken me forever to get into this album but it is so good Edit: it's been two month and this is still my top favorite song of all time. I don't see how any song could possibly ever overtake this one. His voice, the sounds, the guitar- everything is so heavy, powerful and emotional and absolutely beautiful. I cannot even fully comprehend my love for this song and the effect that it has on me.
There’s a bestie of mine who passed away in ‘21 and this was her favorite song to the point she got tattoos referring to it “I am the ocean I am the sea” I’m going to replicate blue hibiscus flowers on my wrist like she had but add the lyrics and pray for the dead underneath. Wish me luck guys. I miss her so much.. Blessed be
Good ol' middle school days. BMTH was my stepping stone into the Metal Genre and got me seeking for heavier and heavier stuff like Death Metal/Slam metal and this band will always have my respect and gratitude for that.
when my friend first introduced me to screamo i totally rejected it and i was like no it scares me but after i heard BMTH songs and their lyrics i was a total different person i love screamo now and i love BMTH songs their lyrics mean so much and i can relate so much to them.
you're my favorite Musician Oliver. once I realized what Sempiternal was about I lost it. I went through the same exact thing right around the time it did. that album gave me the strength to pick myself off the floor. it felt so good to know someone else knew how I felt and I wasn't alone.
This is my favorite album. It has the best sounds and so much emotion imo. True Friends is a good song, but all of the songs on That's The Spirit lack the sane emotion and feel this band used to have. Ya know?
This is my second favorite BMTH album but in my opinion it has the worst sound. Lol :p Just the production sounds really compressed and digital. I pretty sure the drums were fake on their first three albums too. You'd be surprised how many bands use fake drums on an album until they get bigger. But yeah, Crucify Me, Fuck, Alligator Blood and even Blessed with a Curse are some of my favorites.
+Brian Taylor On my opinion Suicide Season sounds even worse, I can't even listen to it, it's so freaking awful. Just talking about production, not about the actual songs, didn't even listen to all of them because it makes my ears bleed.
The new stuff is awesome but this will always be my favourite. It's a beautiful song that still makes my arm hairs stand on end but still manages to be super heavy
imo this definetly one of the most underrated BTMH songs... its in my personal top 3 for sure... u guys rock, every time i have a hard time, good time or i have to study or whatever BMTH is always there. u guys fucking rock.. together with the ghost inside i praise u guys more than any god could ever be praised
So emotionally powerful and incredible. Not a single song off this album feels wrong and they are all so amazing, they weave into a grand story that encompasses every emotion I've ever felt.
So when I was 13 and my sister was 16 we used to run around downtown tempe singing and screaming this song, perfecting what our young vocals could of this song.
Is funny how when I listen this kind of music my face is with a normal expression but when I see other people listening to it their faces are like O_o xD
High School man... wish I could just do a quick run thru of those days just to feel it again. some of the greatest years of my life for sure! BMTH WILL ALWAYS BE MY NUMBER 1 BAND
One of bmths best songs. The lyrics are simple but have so much depth. I’m sure we’ve all felt that we have sinned bad to the point where we cannot be saved. “And I fear I’m too far gone” 🎶🌎🤘🏽
this song in my opinion is a fucking beautiful song. it may be heavy for some people but for me its a song i cry to. the harmony of the screaming and also the calmness of it all is absolutely beautiful. the ending makes me tear up as well. its such a beautiful song
I like how this album isn't too heavy but not too soft. it incorporates both aspects. This album is gold

This Album Came Right After My Mom Died From Cancer So This Album is Helped My Brothers and I Go Through that Time (I'm 15 by The Way She Died when I was eight) This Album for me symbolizes that very tough time that my brothers and I went through so this album is very special to me

By Fall Out Boy.
Crucify me, nail my hands to a wooden cross.
There is nothing above, there is nothing below.
Heaven and Hell lives in all of us,
And I've been cast astray.
I am an ocean, I am the sea,
There is a world inside of me.
Lost in the abyss, drowned in the deep,
No set of lungs could salvage me.
Only a shipwreck, only a ghost,
Merely a graveyard of your former self.
We just watched the waves crash over.
I've been cast astray.
There is a Hell, believe me I've seen it.
There is a Heaven, let's keep it a secret.

Hector González Thanks for the lyric
Conscious correct lyrics. 👌 I see you.
@@vyrstrm maybe this is his favorite band and that's all he listens to mostly? I'm only js cuz people could of said the same damn thing about me with Linkin Park... lmao. But that's not the case.. I just really have analyzed those lyrics to hell and back with a pair of headphones... But if this was a joke tho, then my bad. Disregard this completely. Hard to know what people mean behind mere lines of text.
And he honestly coulda just gotten this off Genius for all I know- people sometimes have been correcting lyrics that I've misheard for years on that thing lol. Crazy.
But yeah...
This album is really underrated tbh, probably my favourite
This is the BMTH that I loved. Throne is a good song, but this is a fucking whole other level.
I agree throne is good and so is this, but throne doesn't really sound much like bmth. I mean happy song the guitar is their unique style you can tell but throne is like sleepwalking where there are just like 4 power chords on the guitars and it's so generic and un-BMTH. If that makes sense
+pikaKipz Yeah but Oli was in a fucking bad time when they wrote this song :/
pikaKipz i'm ok with you but he fcked up his voice so he cannt do that anymore. That's the spirit is a good alternative
pikaKipz what's happening to them 😭 medicine brought me here 😂

I believe this is the only album that both old and new fans can enjoy equally.
I don't know how this song haven't got an official vidio, it deserves one, cause it's amazing, possibly the best intro song of BMTH albums
amazing how this song and CYFMH are about the very same thing yet feel so different in tone.

Oli`s screams are kinda painful
Leora Ojadi
I like count your blessings and suicide season more than these... but yes you are right, they are amazing :)
LorienCZ \m/
I love all their stuff, but Count Your Blessings is their best album. It's fucking sick.
Leora Ojadi You said everything ! I thought this band was only screaming but I decided to try, and I was impressed because it is really very difficult to find band/ songs that arouse feelings !
LorienCZ this album hits home more than any, such raw emotion put into one album
Easily their best album in my opinion. (Yes, I love their old and new work)
yeah, I definitely agree
I honestly like Count Your Blessings the Best. But this album is better than Suicide Season.
Brian Miller Nah man, everyone's got their own taste. I hear ya
I'm glad your not a elitist douche about it. Gives me more hope for the human race.
As a child, I used to think metal music was nothing but screaming about death, something dark and dangerous I need to stay away from.
So glad I grew up and understood how wrong this is, because this is AMAZING
Exactly the same mate
That transition at 3:41. Something about that transition... It's just brilliant.

I loved that line SO MUCH. I tattooed it on my fucking spine

2025 anyone? BMTH lives forever. Most innovative band ever
My name's also Elena!
Gives me goosebumps every time, definitely their best song
ezekiel medrano lmao yeah totally
ezekiel medrano definitely not.
ezekiel medrano Pray for Plague sounds generic to me.
This is metalcore tho, not metal.
@@Matias-zh3dp Metalcore is still a genre of metal
@@Matias-zh3dpMetalcore still keeps being heavier than Heavy Metal and Thrash.
When people say music is a work of art, this is what they are talking about. This song hits on so many levels and I can't count how many times I have found myself lost in this song. It brings me back to a darker time but much like the band itself, I have changed and I have grown with them.
Speaks from the bottom of my heart.
I am the ocean, I am the sea. There is world inside of me.
I think in this album BMTH had expressed their "personality"...This will be forever my favorite bmth's album.
What a 10/10 start to an album. This band is way too competent.
Its a hard choice but this song and It Never Ends are probly my two most favorite songs bmth have made
As much as I love these two songs I think the house of wolves is probably my favourite
+Ethan Dike agreed! i also reallly like blessed with a curse and empire and house of wolves from semp
omg I genuinely couldnt agree more with this comment even if I tried my hardest

Hospital for souls
I know what it means. In the simplest words, duality.
BMTH use a lot of occult imagery in their album art
This song takes me back to a familiar but dark part of my life. This album went hard and was the first relatable thing I had heard during those times. I’m thankful for that
There is a hell is fucking perfect its not too heavy but also not to soft
+Light Yagami nice name... kira ;-;

One of their best albums. Not really into the newer stuff, but I love the atmosphere this album leaves you with.
3:31 i will forever love this breakdown/bridge, it's pure masterpiece
I swear I was this close to slaping her
eww sounds like an annoying poser
I hate those kind of people. You should of bitch slapped her

I would have crusified her....not really I would have bashed her fucking skull into the ground if I was as edgy as she thinks she is
I would have screamed and spit at her

I listened to this record when I was at my lowest and my highest in life and it brings me an inner peace that I can't describe.
I never gave BMTH a chance before and decided to listen to their discography. Glad I'm finally giving them a chance because they're not bad, but THIS SONG right here is fucking fantastic! I can't stop listening to it. It's perfect.
This song gets better the more you listen to it
every single album is so damn perfect, we cant even compare them because they are not even alike, this is like the best one.
i dont know but I fucking love that intro is so peacefully and calming I will really like to hear and larger track with just that melody
Just search for "BMTH Chillout Sessions" :)
That type of Arpeggiated chord playing is Lee Malia's signature style :)
This song brings me a nostalgic time when i used fought with drugs trouble.
Thank God i'm healing now.
It's taken me forever to get into this album but it is so good
Edit: it's been two month and this is still my top favorite song of all time. I don't see how any song could possibly ever overtake this one. His voice, the sounds, the guitar- everything is so heavy, powerful and emotional and absolutely beautiful. I cannot even fully comprehend my love for this song and the effect that it has on me.
I very rarely listen to this type of music, but in my opinion, this is a musical masterpiece.
I miss the style their drummer had on this album and earlier. He got really into learning the “right way” to play drums and it became so simple.
There’s a bestie of mine who passed away in ‘21 and this was her favorite song to the point she got tattoos referring to it “I am the ocean I am the sea”
I’m going to replicate blue hibiscus flowers on my wrist like she had but add the lyrics and pray for the dead underneath.
Still my favourite album of theirs.
This is the one of the best things I've heard in my life. And it was helping when everything else sucked.
MASTERPIECE. Their best song, or at least one of their absolute bests.
you're my favorite Musician Oliver. once I realized what Sempiternal was about I lost it. I went through the same exact thing right around the time it did. that album gave me the strength to pick myself off the floor. it felt so good to know someone else knew how I felt and I wasn't alone.
You realise BMTH is more than just Oliver right?
This is my favorite album. It has the best sounds and so much emotion imo. True Friends is a good song, but all of the songs on That's The Spirit lack the sane emotion and feel this band used to have. Ya know?
*same
This is my second favorite BMTH album but in my opinion it has the worst sound.
+Catie Monroe? It's usually what happens when a band sells out.
+Brian Taylor
On my opinion Suicide Season sounds even worse, I can't even listen to it, it's so freaking awful. Just talking about production, not about the actual songs, didn't even listen to all of them because it makes my ears bleed.
The new stuff is awesome but this will always be my favourite. It's a beautiful song that still makes my arm hairs stand on end but still manages to be super heavy
