"The Lord tells us that there is going to be adversity along the way. And he even suggests to us that our afflictions will be consecrated for our gain.... Ultimately we can be assured that the promise for eternal life is for everyone." Such a blessing to have this knowledge. "Be of good cheer for I will lead you along." Amen.
Thank you I really needed this message. It's been a challenge for me as a young adult yet to find my eternal companion. I have been impatient with finding her but I need to remember that I will receive this blessing in the Lord's time
I used to hear that some blessings don't come until heaven, and cringe... It has been difficult for me at times to swallow the idea that certain longings wouldn't be realized until the next life, and or that certain difficulties would remain for the duration of my mortal existence. However, for some reason, when presented here, it gave me hope. Thank you, Elder Stevenson. Thank you.
I cannot stop watching this message over and over. I had a long day and somewhere in my heart desires to understand every word he spoke. Thanks for the message, it helped and hopefully tomorrow I show better me to myself.
Thanks Elder Stevenson for your inspiring thoughts. And with that I just want to share a little something I wrote a couple years back. That is, "Within this vast world of so very many... you should still really only have one competitor, you desire to succeed... Yea, even that person of whom you were yesterday." As I learned many years ago that I can't go comparing myself to anyone else. But just move forward in the progress of His eternal plan.
This is oh so true..since i arrived from my mission 16 years ago, every year i have been praying of His promised blessing to be delivered to me already, but until now it is still unfulfilled, however, upon watching this and everytime i hear a counsel from the Lord through His prophets and church leaders, my faith kept burning and am still hopeful that it will soon come true..i know it will come true..there maybe a lot of discouragements, but i know someday, with faith in my heart, i will receive it😊
There is a lot of wisdom in what is being said in this video. Often blessings come long after the a trial. The older I become, the more I am able to look back and understand at what point I went through a trial and at what point I was blessed.
Always seek to be the best you can be not to be be better than others the Savior never boasted that he was above us so how dare we put ourselves above others
I hear what you're saying. BUT it is a blessing to do things in step with your peers. Ive mostly been out of step with mine. Go to prom at the same time, go on missions at the same time, learn to drive together, college, marriage around the same time, kids around the same time, and they hit the milestones together. Part of the sadness is not about the thing itself, but the loss of being in step, of social participation in life's milestones when they normally happen. Thus the relief is not just for finally having children, but also the social participation you now can be included in, mutually, even if it is late. There is a loss. If I never have children in this life, it will be a loss, doing it in the next life is not a consolation for the whole of it. Being different is hard. It just is. Add hormonal changes to that and holy crap. But the word of wisdom to the rescue on that end. Yesterday I watched a video of Pres Eyering and Elder Holland discuss patriarchal blessings. He said its not all roses and shouldn't be basically. Sometimes authenticity, the thorns on the roses, are sweeter than the rose. It meets you where you are. Can we not talk about the rose when I'm dealing with the thorn? Thorns first rose later, it even grows that way. The way I go through this life, and the losses sustained won't change. But a rose blooms at the top, while the thorns are still there.
Hello sister. I understand. This video also comes to me in the depths of my grieving for the children I won’t have on this earth. It hurts more than I can say. I admit I don’t know how to endure the rest of my life with this aching in my heart.
Thanks for your question. It can be found in Doctrine & Covenants 78:18. www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/78?lang=eng&id=18#p18
Interesting mixup. Immortality is provided freely because of Christ's Resurrection. Eternal Life is earning a golden ticket (multi-pass) to the Celestial Kingdom via compliance to Revelation of the exact spell (ritual) requirements. Immortality is available to everyone. Eternal Life is available for those that meet the restored requirements. He knows the difference, but confuses it..a little, then quantifies the requirements as "endure to the end". He is actually reinforcing the concerns that led to this video and the need to muddy a basic doctrine. Why isn't he teaching us about the difference? Reviewed and published.
Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law of sacrifice. "It is finished." Simply look, see, accept. He already bore the burden of the thistles and thorns. Vain sacrifice is rejected. Sacrifice for future consecration is vain. Nothing needs to be earned through guilt and shame and money changers at the temples. It's already done. Go. You'll sin some more. Be humble and honest with yourself, and know it's already been paid for. Christ is our Savior because his only condition was that it be God's Glory. Unconditional love is already there. Always. (You're family can stop being celestial hostages, viewed as fallen souls that you need to save. Not your job. Already done. All the way.)
Sorry, but what are these comments about? The sacrifice we must offer now is a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Faith without works is dead. Even though Christ paid for our sins, we need to repent in order for the atonement to take effect. We aren't saved just by confessing in our lips or even in our hearts that we accept Christ. We need to live by it until the end. We are saved by grace, after all that we can do.
Thank you Brother Stevenson... I really needed this message today....

Jesus is King. God bless
I hope and pray that my afflictions will be consecrated for my gain…I hope soon. I need peace and hope to heal and be well again.
