McCarthy got fired for lafluer, then when he had a chance to beat them in the playoffs last year with a more talented team he got BLOWN OUT AT HOME. DONT HIRE HIM
Right! All these dopes in the comments! Would you rather get blown out at home in the playoffs or take a chance on one of these young guys? Seems like a rhetorical question to me.
I'm curious to see the rumored OC & DC that would come with McCarthy. I admired the setup of McCarthy HC + Moore OC + Quinn DC and hoped Flus could replicate that. Maybe it can work this time around, or maybe it all fails again and we need a true playcaller HC.
As soon as he said stabilizing in context of McCarthy I just shook my head. It would be very bears to settle for a floor guy Edit: don’t know about the rest of the fanbase I personally don’t give a shit about regular season splits within the division. I want to lord a Lombardi trophy over our division opponent. So no I wouldn’t be satisfied with splitting the regular season with our division rivals
Only way I’d be comfortable and probably excited w/ Brady is if Pete C was HC. Brady’s pay increased w/ guarantee to take Pete’s spot after a couple years of learning to run as HC under Pete. Appears they’d be very similar types of coaches, but Brady’s experience is just very low. If guaranteed the spot, then he’s got a couple years to focus on QB and O development while learning the CEO part from a great HC. That could be attractive to both Pete and Brady as well. Something like that seems less a bet than on an OC w/o HC experience but provides a higher ceiling than Mike taking the spot. It’d be an interesting investment in coaching, and the investment in coaching is what Chicago needs.
Why would Bears be considering a guy in McCarthy who just got fired and "nobody hates"... There are so many good candidates! I will be very upset if we settle for him
Same. He works when the rest of the division sucks just like he did in GB and Cowboys but doesn’t do well in the playoffs. He wouldn’t work in the NFC North as it is now. 3 solid coaches and 3 playoff caliber teams
@@nwhite3562 Lol yeah we should want one that elevates the Bears to a championship level, not a first round exit every year because his offense is stale and once he gets to playoffs, he is immediately the stupidest coach left because all of the young offensive head coaches run laps around him. Like that packers game in the playoffs in 2024 that literally ruined the team for an entire other year. Stop aiming so low. It's embarrassing. Why didn't the packers want McCarthy? That's a well run team and they didn't want him. The cowboys? That's a not well run team, and even they didn't want him. But sure old desperate Bears, are going to hire this fool? Think a little deeper than win loss record.
I have ZERO interest in McCarthy, he under achieved with Dallas and GB when you consider the QB's and talent he had. No more Packers retreads, just because they've picked the wrong guy so many times doesn't mean they need to start lowering the bar
Consider a connection with Ron Rivera (DC) as training wheels for Brady as HC. Think Sean McVay at age 3O and Wade Phillips when McVay became HC in LA. He’s already beaten Johnson once this year and also his mentor Sean Payton with a shot at Monken, Nagy(?), Johnson again. All for your consideration. Blame Courtney.. i wasn’t paying any attention. She called it. I just like the guy’s vibe.
1. Todd Monken 2. Ben Johnson 3. Aaron Glenn 4. Mike McCarthy 5. Marcus Freeman or Dan Lanning I feel like people are sleeping on Todd Monken, if its offense you want, he has a proven QB friendly system and isn't timid like all the other offensive minded young guys.
Todd Monken is a good second option, but only if Ben Johnson is not available. Mike McCarthy is nowhere on the list. I'd take a swing at Joe Brady before Mike McCarthy, and I'm pretty sure Joe Brady would be an absolute failure.
Absolutely No to McCarthy. The Packers are a better org than the Bears in every way and they fired him. If the Bears hire McCarthy they are explicitly stating that they have lower standards than the Packers which is complete unacceptable. If hes not good enough for the Packers hes not good enough for the Bears
This. It reminds me of trading essentially a first rounder to Pittsburgh for claypool. If first class organizations are getting rid of “core” talent, there is a reason for it.
*The odds say NO, don't hire Mike McCarthy, 35 different NFL coaches have won a Super Bowl out of the 58 Super Bowls, nine coaches have won 2, three coaches have won 3, one coach has won 4, and one coach has won 6, no coach in NFL history has "ever" won the Super Bowl with "two separate teams." Mike McCarthy has won (a) Super Bowl, the Bears are trying to win the Super Bowl, McCarthy winning his 2nd Super Bowl with the Packers and Bears is the "longest" of "long shots" happening. The odds favor the Bears hiring someone else like Ben Johnson other than McCarthy if they want to win the Super Bowl, McCarthy would be the wrong move and decision again by the Bears.* -NFL-SCOUT
Why are you so angry? Your parents didn't give up on you after your first year on life. No, they let you reach ur potential. Or maybe they didn't and that's why ur so angry
When he’s not a rookie and gets a full season w 1 OC and 1HC not 3 and 2, and Probably would get more criticism if he didn’t Have the same stats as the other rookies in the playoffs
Caleb is no where near as bad as you are trying to make him seem lol. He has a lot to grow but he's shown some real flashes of great. All the problems for the team to fix I do not think he is one of them at this moment
This "stabilizer" narrative is starting to get so fucking annoying. We have lost like 10 one possession games the lasg 2 seasons specifically bc of Eberflus's terrible decision making. This team is better than ppl are making them out to be and they have hella money and draft capital to add to it. Hire ben Johnson, PERIOD. This stabilization shit is so fucking brain dead
Shoutout to Kent!!! That Hurt moment of H&J is all time
Well said by Ken: you two are the best on the beat and even nationally.
Strong work, Kent! Best wishes
Caleb himself saying he wants Ben Johnson on that podcast today
😂😂😂😂
No he didnt
He didn't say it. He just implied it. Get your facts straight.
Thank you Kent for dragging the Adam’s kicking and screaming onto the RUclipss.
You guys have been running a great show. Cheers
Much better episode today than Monday guys. Cheers
Good luck for the future Kent!🙌
Good luck to you Kent
Johnny Cash cold-open was epic, thank you
Interesting Joe Brady fact: his friend and right hand man in Buffalo is DJ Mangas. Mangas’ mother is the Director of Caleb’s foundation Caleb Cares.
I'm sure Kent and his family have just accepted this over time but it's a beautiful name, boo-SAH-lee-ah. However you say it, great insights.
Wow, great info on McCarthy. I guess if the Bears do hire McCarthy, I will be optimistic.
Also why not Saleh? We aren't even mentioning him I don't know why
Because he's a defensive coach. The idea is to pair Caleb with a offensive coach.
Pass on part of the conversation

Lmao the Cowboys DC who got his ass handed to him is in the playoffs as the Commanders HC. Mike doesn't call the defense.

Don’t be a twerp. McCarthy has had more success than the entire Bears franchise in the SuperBowl era.
Monken OC, Ravens are 1st n 2nd in all Offense categories now, Lamar having best passing year. Seriously, check his resume, major sleeper.
