  • Watch the how to here: • How to Trim to Fit 37"...
    You asked so we're answering! This video covers everything you need to know about fitting and trimming for 38's on a 2014+ Ram truck. we show exactly where you need to trim and how you need to do it to clear 38" tires on a 2014, 2016, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, or 2020 Ram 2500 or 3500 truck.
    While this set up looks great, keep in mind that it is a street only tire set up, and will not clear lock to lock turning at suspension bottom out.

    Same trimming for 35s with no lift..but that depends on wheel offset.. stock rims n 35s rub the sway bar and 4.5" offset rims rub where this video shows.

    Do you have to regear these trucks with the g56 , 2017 to run 37s with the 3.42 gears? My truck has 1200 foot pounds of trq. Just don’t want to hurt the drive train.

    I want to put 35”or 37” with my 3:42 gears. Currently my tires are 33.5”. When I do the math on paper it’s not much difference. But I look at gearing charts they say I should be using at least a 4:10 ?

    Hey CJC, If i have a stock 2500 4x4 2022 6.7 Longhorn Limited (without Air Suspension) - Coils only- with the upgraded 20s, probably 20x9 - I guess.. Will a Carli front to rear option lift, maybe 2.5 or even 3.25 get me enough to run 37x12.5x20s... Or even 285x65xR20... I am pooling $$ now to get it all and move over - without a wheel change but, if it would end up being a problem, I'd like to know before I waste $ on the wrong direction.👍👀💯

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Месяц назад

      To fit 37s on a Ram truck we recommend a +12 to +27 offset wheel that is no wider than 9.5.” A +12 wheel will yield a slight poke from the fender, while a +27 wheel is just about flush with the side of the truck.
      Running stock wheels with 37s is a bit tricky, since the factory wheels are +40 offset which is about 20-28mm too far in. As a result, you hit the radius arms and sway bars with the tires when turning lock to lock. You can either cut the studs and run a bolt on spacer that makes up that gap with the stock wheels, or go with an aftermarket wheel in the right specs. Since we aren't too fond of cutting wheel studs, we'd suggest the aftermarket wheel route. There's no way to lift your way out of the wrong wheel specs!

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Год назад

      That's because the suspension is compressing, moving the wheel further up. See where it's rubbing and trim more! It may also be wheel spec related. Unless you have the perfect wheel specs, 38s will not fit.

    • @CJCOffRoad

      It all depends on wheel specs. With a 6” height system you need wheels around 5.5 to 5” of backspace to fit 38s and still be able to wheel the truck. This truck is on a 3” system.

    • @CJCOffRoad

      Ground clearance is about the same as this kit with 37s (38’s only add .5” at most) but it’s plenty good to get these trucks pretty much anywhere. As for cost, we don’t have that info from Carli yet sadly.

    Hi Cole, great channel, keep it coming. May I ask, what offset rim do I need to be able to fit a 38x15.5R20 tyre on a 2500 Ram (2010) which has a 6" lift kit and currently running 37x12.5R30's (currently Dick Cepek rims, not certain of the offset but not enough for the 15.5's) but currently not enough space on the inside for the width of the 38x15.5 the rear as well as I have a Firestone air suspension installed as well so the bellows is quite close to the tyre, about 3/4 inch gap. Thanks, Rory, South Africa 👍

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 года назад

      To fit 37s or 38s on a Ram you need a 8.5-9” wide wheel with +18 to +25 offset. There will be plenty of trimming involved for 38s though!

    • @edleifer6719
      @edleifer6719 2 года назад

      @@CJCOffRoad I don't believe you can run a 8.5 - 9 " wheel with a 15.5 wide tire, at the very least it is not recommended by the manufacturer. In fact I don't believe a 13.5 wide tire is recommended for use with an 8.5 or 9 inch rim either.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely not. If you want to use the truck off road. To fit 37s or 38s on a Ram you need a 8.5-9” wide wheel with +18 to +25 offset. Negative offset is a no go.

    @cjc off road how does this setup run on light offroad driving? I.E the opening clip on the dirt road with the few bumps. looking at the 3.25 back country and want to run 38x13.50 20 on the black rhino Arsenals 20x12 -44(unless that wheel doesn't work then I'll go with a 20x9.5 -18)

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  3 года назад +1

      The commuter system does great for mild, low speed off road actually! As for your wheel specs, you’ll want to reconsider if the plan is to run a 38. You can ONLY do a positive offset wheel that is no wider than 9.5” if you hope to cram 38s under one of these trucks. You want a wheel with +6 to +25 offset. Anything negative will leave you with extreme rub when turning or flexing. Keep in mind the truck in this video already rubs on 38s when turning and flexing even with the optimal wheel spec and lots of trimming.

    • @williamd8374

      @@CJCOffRoad thanks for the quick reply. as much as Id likethat deep lip look. Id rather have functionality. so the commuter setup would be good for light offroad applications ? I dont do any crazy off roading just simple driving out to go hunting maybe a slightly aggressive trail but that typically traveled at low speeds.

    Would you have to trim with a 4" lift to fit 38s on 18 in wheels?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  4 года назад +1

      Absolutely. Even with the perfect wheel specs. You can’t lift your way out of rub unless you go massive. A 4” lift becomes a 0” lift the second you hit a bump and the suspension compresses. One way a lot of the cheap lifts cheat that is having almost no suspension travel.
