Ah you two are adorable and remind me so much of me and my hubby. He died suddenly last year, and it’s been unbelievably hard, but listening to you both-you say things we would say (only in our California accents😂) and the rhythm of the back and forth, It’s not interrupting-it’s the back and forth that is natural when you know someone well-when Liz said “who’s the one that keeps shouting” and Brian said “Gordon” I almost spat out my coffee I laughed so hard-that you KNOW what each other are thinking….ah that’s just lovely and I’M HERE FOR IT!
I am escalating my plan to come to NZ sooner than planned as the elections have lit a fire under many of us. If there is a hospital in Taranaki I may just bump into you at pak and save! I’m open to Taranaki thanks to you both! I’m talking to nurse recruiters at accent as many of your nurses have recommended ❤❤❤
What a very touching comment, Lisa, thank you ❤️ We are so happy to bring a little slice of New Zealand life to you and will continue to do so. And yes, when you get to New Zealand please come and find us. It won't be hard, we'll be in the frozen chicken isle, frowning....😆
Sending you big hugs and strength, Lisa. Your friends, Liz and Brian ❤️❤️
Cracking up laughing so hard🤣Liz it was said tongue in cheek..love to you both,Calvin😁
Just like to add..now I know why Brian was looking confused around the frozen chicken🤣🤣
Hahaha! Oh, Calvin...little did you know you would be making future content for the show 😆😘 Thank you for coming to say hello and for being such a good sport! 😃 As you can see, I tried taking your advice but to no avail...I might try a role of duct tape next time...🤣
You guys are so natural. You work together really well. Liz is a bit more outgoing but that works well. Women usually talk more anyway. Keep it up. I enjoy your giggles.
In case Kiwis think moving to Australia is paradise under the sun, food prices and rents are soaring there too. Liz, your flight with the birds is wonderful.
It certainly was wonderful, Robert! Thank you for being with us 🥰 Liz and Brian
I just caught myself listening to you two talking about chickens with a big grin on my dial and feeling interested and happy hearing your down to earth stories. I haven’t been on the internet much since the election so I’ve missed having such a lovely time with you. Stay your wonderful selves forever. I wish I could bottle what you manage to project out of my tiny screen. Much love from Dunedin. Px
Oh, Pauline. Thank you. What a truly lovely message. Your message made us feel loved and encouraged. Thank you for being you ❤️ Sending much love to you and all in fantastic Dunedin! x
You guys are SO special! ❤️ And I love the bird songs as well, best way to wake up in the morning 😊 NZ is really something special ❤️
Thanks so much, Liezl 😊 Yes, there is nothing quite like the sound of birds ❤️
You just keep going from strength to strength! You have what my family call “soft faces”. I don’t mean pudgy or floppy!!!!!! But Immediately people are drawn to your warmth and fun - but also your sincerity and care for each other, your family and your newly(huh, she says, 15 years later!) adopted homeland. As everyone says, how well you have learned Te Reo and pronounce it much better than I do after 60+ years. We’re so lucky to have you. I don’t worry if you don’t reply. I know you are flat out and how you try to make everyone feel welcome and included. It’s so nice that you do it so often and it’s precious as it is a community, not just a “show”. If you know what I mean. In any case much love from “Funedin”! Just made that up! Always keen to see you if you venture down here. Px
😂😂😂...you guys are so gorgeous. My husband moved here from England in 75' and classes himself kiwi. I'm the LIZ and hubby is the BRIAN of our relationship, im extrovert and he's more introvert. Its a balance that works well to compliment each others personalities. Pak n Save is great for no frills shopping. Much love from Wellsford, love your channel.
I love it how Liz does the majority of the talking and Brian chips in with his 10 cents worth. The conversation flow makes for a hilarious conversation!! A Classic Husband And Wife Combo!!
@@louisacrisp5789 thank you, Louisa! What a lovely comment. We are thrilled to have you with us 🥰 Liz and Brian x
You guys are just wonderful..💛
Thank you so much, we appreciate you being with us 🥰
Thanks for sharing that story about the birds! How beautiful. It was lovely to hear and I definitely think your mum was listening. Love your videos, keep up the great work!
Thank you, Stephen 😊 We are so happy to have you with us x
Incredible experience with the birds! NZ is land of the birds. To think there were only ever birds here before. I’d like to believe it’s a beautiful communication from the spirit world 😊
I believe that too, Jaana ❤️ Thank you for being with us x
You're different personalities....and you bounce off each other! That's what makes your video podcast works!! Brenda from NZ
Thank you, Brenda, we appreciate your loveliness! 🥰
another great video Liz and Brian, you always make me smile and giggle (just a Kiwi )
Thank you, Kerri! We are so happy top have you with us 🥰
Brilliant video! If Liz didn't interrupt Brian occasionally it wouldn't be right and how would we know how much Brian loves her 😉Thanks Liz and Brian, keep on being you🙂
Hehe! Thank you! We appreciate you being with us 🥰 Liz and Brian x
Ooooh, our dearest Liz and Brian, we’re so happy to see you back online💖-we’re completely addicted to your humor and laughter! So glad to hear that both of you are doing well.🙏
Please don’t change a thing about your podcasting/vlogging-it’s absolutely perfect as it is.👍👌 Yes, we totally agree with Brian-you must lead the show! Brian is great just as he is-calm, technical, and grounded🥰-while you bring so much energy, creativity, and charisma to the table. You both complement each other beautifully, just as it should be.👏👍💖
We love you both dearly. 💖😘
We were giggling about the story in the supermarket. You guys are sooo funny. But yes, it’s expensive everywhere these days; it’s just the times we’re living through together.🙉
I was moved to tears listening to the story about nature’s response after the poor moth passed. It’s so comforting to know that the universe (mum) sent you such a loving sign, showing you’re deeply loved and watched over. 💖We experienced something similar after my mother-in-law passed.🥺
We’re also so glad to hear your beautiful daughter is back home. Don’t worry-she will absolutely find her way.🙏😘
Sending lots of love to both of you!💖
Oh, Renata and Saviz... getting a comment from you always makes us feel like we've been given a big warm hug. Thank you for being so very lovely and kind. You are loved and appreciate by us both ❤️ Your friends, Liz and Brian xx
Liz and Brian, love your down to earth attitude to life, Iam a brit now living in "my happy place" New Zealand. I look forward to your videos etc. Pak N Save is the NZ version on Netto aka No frills etc. Iam blessed that I live in the countryside, the Bird life is awesome, Tui's, Spotted Thrushes, Rosellas, and Ruru's (Moreporks)
Love you two. No hormones in chicken but full of antibiotics. They are crammed in, in awful conditions and it is to prevent the spread of disease. I haven’t eaten chicken for years because the whole trade is awful. I used to eat lamb, pork and beef but gave it all up when I lived in Korea because it opened my eyes to the awful treatment of animals there. Have not missed it and I am healthier
Same here.
Thank you for sharing, we appreciate you 🥰
It doesn't matter whether there are 2 or 2000 people in a room there will be 1 that is dominant. Your definitely the dominant one on the podcast Liz but I'm sure Brian is the dominant one in other areas, such as his success in his business life. It's recognizing who's best at what that creates the success I see in you and Brian. And I'm not judging success by financial terms. Success in life is not about dollars or wealth. It's all about happiness. Arohanui
Thank you, my friend 😊 Perfectly summed up. Have a lovely week and see you soon 😊 Liz and Bri x
About sharing the lead etc… you compliment each other and I’m sure you take turns with the lead on so many things, and also at different times to support each other when you are not at your best.
Don't worry about that guy Liz, the balance is perfectly fine
Thank you! 🥰
"Write Price" in the Horowhenua District of NZ and in the Manawatu/Wanganui District mid 1980s was my first experience of what I would refer to as "no frills" or "very basic" Supermarket shopping. Pak n Save came along at a later date - based on the same model but on an even larger scale again. Love the way you two 'kinda' finally agreed to agree on the definition of the word 'scummy' lol - cracked me up 😂
Hawke's Bay is a fresh food provider for the world. Normal food products are not that toxic compared to what once was all the consumer could purchase. A lot of years of Scientific research in NZ has gone into safe production. Organic food is more expensive because of obvious reasons and introduced because of obvious reasons. but not really cost-effective for the consumer today because of the price difference of organic products compared to traditional horticulture practices today.
Thank you for sharing, Karl, we appreciate you! 😊
When Pak n Sav came onto the scene I remember some folk were somewhat spooked by the very high shelving slash pallet racks. People were just not used to being surrounded with very high shelves thinking something might fall and hurt them. "The Warehouse" the same.
Also who remembers the trusting good ole days when you actually walked into a super market, grabbed a felt marker.. grabbed your items and you actually wrote said prices stated on the shelves onto the actual products. This was happening soon before bar code scanning began.
Post Covid, I noticed other supermarkets weren't getting back into the habit of packing your groceries... even into the trolleys! Sometimes I've wanted to be cheeky and ask "Oh am I in Pak n Sav?" They are slowly coming back around!
Oh, wow! That's so cool that you wrote the prices?! We will have to remember that fact for a future podcast! Thank you so much for sharing and for taking the time to write such an insightful comment, we appreciate you! 😃 Liz and Brian x
Well, some people struggle to live a life here. Every country have their own way of living. We Kiwi get use to the way we live. Its how we are. Some well off, some not. We have a good way of helping everyone . BENEFIT WE CALL IT. Yes! Its so dear to live here. ❤ Love your vid Liz and Brian. Thank you.
Thank you for being with us and for sharing, we appreciate you 😃
We have something similar here where we live it's called Fresh and Save, it's great and they have the best specials, when we last visited NZ we went to Pak an Save as for the talking part when I was able to speak I was the talker my hubby never has never been a talker and next month we have been married 40 years, 10years ago I first got crook and then since I've lost my voice I've had major brain and thyroid health issues and 2 major brain surgerys 2 years ago for brain aneuysms, bleed on the brain, stroke etc has robbed me of my voice, not easy I can only whisper anyway hubby still doesn't talk much, I miss not being able to speak and to be heard, so make the most of being able to talk even if people think you talk to much because once it's gone it sucks, I so love both of you❤ watching and following from Brisbane Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Thank you for being with us, Elisabeth, we appreciate you. We are sending you love and strength and a big hug from us to you and yours in Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️
❤you Liz and Brian
Love you too, Miss Wendy ❤️
Im in gisborne our veges n fruit are always reasonable or free.
Im notice that meat & chicken is not more expensive . Not sure why people say it is.
Thank you for sharing ☺️
Free range shows in the quality of the eggs, check the colour of the yoke and you'll see. Free range means the chickens aren't living in torturous circumstances and the eggs show it. Caged chicken yokes are very pale if you compare them.
The life of Brian you could call your Brian show😂
It's great that you still love NewZealand as so many kiwis are moving over here to ausi as they can't afford to live there any more, which is so sad. You were so lucky to see so many native birds Liz,it must have been an awesome sight❤
Thank you, Angelique, Life of Brian...I like that!! 🤣
We shop Pak n Save! We call it Push n Shove! I think you're talking about Puri moths? We live in Rotorua. Lovely story about your mum.
❤Love the story about the birds, Liz. Our birds are brilliant, I think. My mother always said Australia has the most colourful birds and New Zealand has the birds with the sweetest songs . We live in the country too, and the bird song is just amazing ❤ You two just bounce off each other, you're absolutely fine!
PaknSave is much nicer than it used to be, the Tauranga one is excellent and their produce is always super fresh and they often have signs telling you where they've been grown. They used to be a bit depressing (scummy) - they have upped their game, I think.
Yes, we've not been eating chicken, it's awfully expensive. I feel like Arkwright in Open all Hours... How Much??? Rice and beans, that's what we'll have! Let's hope things improve.
Love to you both, good to see you looking happier.
P.S. Several years ago a young Kingfisher flew into our glass doors. Such a whack, I thought it would be dead. But it was not, so I picked him up, wrapped him in a towel and let him recover. Then I took him outside, placed him on our clothesline, and off he flew! Every year we have Kingfishers and I always think on of them is that particular bird who comes back to say Hello :)
For many years the colourful Australian Rosella's have lived in areas near Dunedin.
They are everywhere in NZ@@barrycuda3769
Thank you for sharing, my friend, it is always lovely to see your face in the comments, thank you! 🥰
@@ItsaDrama thank you, that's a lovely thing to say 🥰 I always enjoy your podcasts x
Great episode!
Thank you! ☺️
Liz & Brian, what about road fatalities in NZ? They are almost 3 times higher than in the UK.
Not all people drink coffee. They might be tea drinkers
They are Puriri moths they don't live very long.
My Mum does that. She sends the birds, to my brother, thank goodness
Very true. Thank you for sharing and for being with us! 😊
Pak n Save = No frills.
I was mortified by the $65 for the GP! On the other hand, I'm lucky to have a GP, so... "mustn't grumble"!
Liz and Brian can afford fish and chicken?! Dinner at Liz and Bri's house!
LOL
I'll bring the brown rice with egg and homemade date loaf.
[Is literally living on brown rice and date loaf]
I pay $22
I pay 70.00. However at 74 I'm very healthy. I only visit Dr once a year for blood tests.
Date loaf sounds lovely! Yum, with a cup of tea...!! Thank you for being with us my friend x
Enjoy your weekend. ❤ Granny South Africa
Thank you! ❤️
The best place to get a fuel discount receipt, is from the trolley boy.
Great tip! 😃
PaknSave is more like a bulk store. We do our own packing = cheaper price.
Although our local supermarket is New World but do a bulk buy at PaknSave and bits and pieces at New World.
Over here in Christchurch, when we spend more than $200 we get petrol voucher for 10c per km
You could go to NPD and get about 15 cents/ litre off without any coupons.
@@cantablocal6768 I agree with you about NPD . It is usually pretty good when looking at the Gaspy app. I have to travel too far out to get to NPD, so more than happy with the 10c that PaknSave offers😊
Just great that we can get lower grocery cost with PaknSave and they also offer discounts on petrol which is a pretty good deal.
@@cantablocal6768 Yes, you are so right about NPD. I often find them to have the best deals in the Gaspy App.
We are not close to the NPDs station, so will only go with them if we are in the vicinity. Having the PaknSave deal is pretty good as well ☺
ah, you see you didn't phrase it right.... the idea is you say >>> Hi, I can't use this coffee voucher, would you like it? I've done this loads of times with those little tickets at the OTHER supermarkets, or even with MCDonalds monopoly instant prizes, everyone is delighted. Gotta be real natural, even better if they are in the queue with you at the checkout. :) :) BTW I LOVE your podcasts, it gives us a glimpse of how we NZers differ from the rest of the world, sometimes we haven't a clue about that! :)
Ahhh! Yes! That's so true! I'll try that next time! 😃 Thank you for being with us and for your lovely support 🥰
Pak'n'Save is about low cost so you pack and you save is the point.
it cost $ to certify your farm organic. And organic farms have more regulations than other ones- probably rules that limit crowding (and therefore disease) too. Some supermarket owners are on the NZ rich list 😂 😂
Loved your bird story. Being a cynical old tart, I'd take that bird thing as Death happens and life goes on. But yeah the world of creatures is very cruel. And i love your gentle heart Liz xx
Mate, when you have something to say, she'll let you know.
Basic or Rough and ready is what we would say here certainly not scummy. That’s not so nice.
check out the cables, Brians on hot, Liz on cold rofl
😃
Interesting that you have a "scam?" Picture on your introduction? I am also an imigrant of 57 years, you being from the UK , maybe you like to explain why english imports were / still are known as whinging poms here in the country of the long white cloud
@hanshoogendyk2203
Around the time Muldoon was PM a lot of Brits were recruited to fill positions that the country because it was unable to do from its own labour force. The early recruits in particular, earned a bad reputation for themselves, which then became a stereotype of all British immigrants, and the derogatory term "whinging pom" or just "pom" begain.
There were two main things about these early recruits that didn't go down well with the Kiwis.. Some brought their British class system with them, and considered that some jobs, and the people that did them, were beneath them. Then there were the militant trade unionists that rose to be heads of unions and caused much unnecessary industrial strife. For example every time there was a public holiday, the inter-island ferries would go on strike. Usually over the most rediculous matters.
However, over time those people left the work force and the Brits that replaced them were much more down to earth. Now-a-days the term "pom" (in most cases) is just another way of saying "Brit" with no malice attached to it. The tone in which it is said will make it clear how the speaker is using it. But in order not to unintentionally offend Brits, the term is not used as often now.
Pakinsav was never about SKUMMY it is & has always been about limited selection, they have always only sold what is the most popular which is only the high tune over products .
There is no growth hormones allowed in the protein food chain unlike Europe & U.S.A.
Liz, I bet this is a gender thing. Has a woman ever told you to let Brian talk more? I think you two are pretty evenly represented in these videos. You do seem to organize the content more (though Brian has his share of this). Brian seems to ground things more (though you complement that by being uplifting). As for talking over, count the times. I bet it's pretty spot on even. And you're equally charming and funny. Don't let them get in your head, my friend! It will throw off your beautiful balance!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 9:13
I hope your kids aren't watching this vid. 😂😂😂
Lol scummy, I would say scody or scodie not sure of the spelling
Ooh! I like Scody! That's a good one 🤣
Scummy.. bit rude. It's not that bad.
They did explain that they didn't mean scummy, in THAT way.
Hey Liz, me old Granny always called the tui a parson bird, for obvious reasons.
Love that! Thanks for being with us and for sharing! 😊
Called, Basic, not scummy
