I used this horn with a different compression driver and got very similar results with that drop at around 5k. It took EQ well with only 2 bands or so needed but far from an ideal horn

Maybe i didn´t understand something, but the Eighteen Sound chart you show, is labeled: measured with XT1086 horn.
I see similar shelve at 6kHz on your measurement, as Voice Coil magazine, as manufacter graph. Maybe(probably) manufacturer used higher smoothing.
IMHO it´s shame using such a small and cheap horn if you have 30cm wide baffle, especialy if you want used this super expensive woofer.
Please, don´t get me wrong, i admire your work very much and i believe that your own horn designs are much better than these off shelve.

How about the bms 1" 5530ND? It has probably the lowest crossover freq ability of any 1"cd.
I think just a bliesma be dome or even alu dome would do better job mating with purifi. There's not a single bad review of bliesma. That peerless was insane though 👏

Try the 18s nd3n it is significantly bigger has a nitride treated driver which should show a better performance

Eighteen Sound’s measurements are most likely made on an IEC baffle though. Overlay the simulated response from your baffle onto their measurement (SPL trace) and see if it matches yours better.

The narrowing at 2kHz is mainly from edge diffraction off the 30cm wide baffle. I am not trying to replicate IEC conditions, I’m trying to find a suitable horn for the 1736 project.

Your directivity messurements seem to differ quite a bit to the messutrements from the Test Bench / Voice coil magazine articles with the XT120 (tere are two, one with NSD1095N driver and one with the ND1T). I Messured the directivity myself and got the same results als Voice coil/ Testbench, so i think the difference seem to come from your test baffle. did you test your Radial Horn in the video on the same Baffle as the XT120?

Looking at the TestBench results it seems similar, there’s the narrowing of the directivity in the 2kHz region along with the -6dB shelf. The only difference is in the size of the bump at 3.5kHz where my test is more pronounced, which could be the baffle. I tested the circular horn only to see what issues were inherent in the driver, which confirmed the -6dB shelf. My testing is being conducted in order to find a suitable horn for the 1736 speaker project, not necessarily to produce IEC test conditions.

Disappointing results. Really curious how this project turns out. Have you considered the BlieSMa T25B? I’ve been thinking about a 3 way with the 8” Purifi, 6” Purifi mid, and that BlieSMa tweeter with a wave guide.

    Good testing.
If you want to pair with the 8" woofer, I would think you would need a tweeter than plays a fair bit lower than the compression driver. Else I would expect a directive mismatch between the woofer and tweeter.

If it can be crossed at ~1.8 kHz, putting it into an oblated spheroid -> conical waveguide with ~8" mouth should do the trick.

I’m having a horn 3D printed that should work. It needs pattern control down to 1kHz which is typical for match up to an 8”.

How about a Transducer Lab N26C-A? Extremely linear (according to their data) and has a 560hz resonance frequency so it could be used a lot lower than the 18s tweeter. I don't know if you could hornload that tweeter.

U never take a look in beyma brand bro.. they have great horns & AMT as well as great woofers too .. with very high standards made in Spain no china
