UAE's ruler breaks with tradition and appoints his son as crown prince

- UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan passed over his brothers, promoting them to senior roles and effectively pushed them out of the succession. CNBC's Hadley Gamble reports.
“The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later; in a dictatorship you don't have to waste your time voting” ― Bukowski C.
Ironically, no American even got to vote for the Iraq war, Ukraine war, or the coming wars against Iran and China. They know, if it were down to a vote, the American public would be like, why do I even give a damn? I want my money for my house, not for useless missiles in foreign countries.
Take it up with the American elite and corporations, they're the sociopaths behind destroying the "middle east," latin america and the rest of the world.
No that's just Indian democracy under modi which is an autocracy actually. Every other democracy people have power

Abu dhabi is beautiful place to be…
important thing about leader is his merit. not the older in the line.
.but idk them, they know better whose better
I doubt they chose based on merit. Most people would prefer to inherit their son rather than their brother, or cousin. Ruling a country is basically an inheritance, you get money, authority and power. I'm sure that's why he changed the tradition.
his son has already proved to be a great and mature leader, nothing wrong with it
I’m sure we’ll hear about an overdose soon since it is their culture to do drug and gay sex parties.
Excellent.

Dear western media....when will you get rid of your old habit of creating provocative news...learn to say good about others
Is this the truth or not? What is provocative?
What are they meant to say? Most glorious president of the UAE, a thousand blessings be upon him and his family, has, in his infinite wisdom, appointed his son as crown prince of his magnificent sheikhdom of Abu Dhabi. Truly a wise leader!

Democracy and kingdomship are only tools to get to a goal, one of the goal is to make the people rich. In democracy people are fighting for the tools often time don't get the goal, but in kingdomship people don't have to fight about the tool but most likely get the goal.
Althought, in my view kingdom is not an ideal system but in this era, its better than democracy.
Wrong. In a monarchy, the tools belong to the ruler. There is no use fighting.
@@saiyedakhtar3931 monarchy is suitable for a country like UAE where there are different royal family tribes and hence, exploitation by one family isn't possible due to scrutiny. The emiratis have the best life and aid from the government compared to an average american and the help they get. Sorry, but even I'd like my debts to be waived off at intervals with zero efforts like the emiratis but I'm lucky I don't have any.
@@harveyspecter1855Look, first of all every country has a unique identity and political set up. It get that. However, the lifestyle of UAE citizens are not due to having a monarchy. It's due to having oil wealth. Norway is similar: oil wealth and small local population for wealth distribution. Second, the US has a higher HDI than the UAE. Also, the per capita GDP of the UAE is $50,000 compared to $80,000 in the US. Basically, the way the UAE citizen lives better is by importing cheap labor, which is not sustainable. In other words, labor discrimination. UAE citizens get paid triple the salary for the same job an expat does. Money isn't free. It has to be earned to be sustainable. Goods and services must be produced. Gulf countries in general have oil production but that's about it. Besides, having your debt canceled isn't a good exchange for having to be careful about what you say or do. If the ruler thinks you are getting out of line, your citizenship can be stripped. It happens quite often. So, the grass isn't always greener.
@@saiyedakhtar3931lot of countries have rich natural resources. That doesn't mean the countries and its people have benefited. Look at middle east, the only countries that are stable are the ones with monarchies. You think you have true democracy. Most small nations are exploited by big nations and often will place a puppet. Usa loves democracies because they can put whoever they like in charge by funding them. Just because you elect 1 out of 2 party doesn't mean you have freedom and democracy.
@@maple-leafs13 these monarchies are only stable because they have effectively bribed their local population into submission. Historically most monarchies in the middle east before the discovery of oil were plagued by tribal warfare and coups. For example, during the 60s there were coups in Oman and UAE emirate of sharjah that were back by power players like the British. This was before the old boom or the formation of the UAE. Only European monarchies of the latter 19th century onward became stable but were mostly continual monarchies. In fact the founder of the UAE overthrew his brother in a coup. So, I think you need to open a history book. All this stability as you call it is nothing but pacification by wealth. Once the oil wealth is gone or they fail to transition into a more sustainable economy the real chaos will start. Second, the US is not a pure democracy. Luckily it isn't. A pure democracy is one in where two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Basically, the US is a Republic which by design is not about the majority vote but requires the votes of the other party to pass legislation. It's slower but brings about less knee jerk legislation. Monarchies like the gulf depend on handouts to survive while pure democracies depend purely on votes. Nether are really good. The US offers a hybrid, a separation of powers with a strong presidential system and a cautious congress. It understands human nature as essentially self serving. The European system of democratic socialism is as unsustainable as a pure "retainer" monarchy of the gulf. I prefer neither as both are too restrictive to liberty. In Europe I'm taxed to death and face rep tape at every turn (think of France and its bureaucracy) while in monarchy I would have to "keep myself in line" for a hand out. Sorry but neither is a good choice.

How did he break tradition the rule is passed off from the king to the sons in a consistutional monarchy.

Atleast they hv less BS to deal with and move on with the work..
Why would you say that as different countries comprise uae each his own fiefdom with its own rulers. Sorry I don't understand...
I guess to svoid problems smong family members they prefer to elect their son instead of brothers since it can conflicts of interest. Iraq and Libya were once a prosperous country. The USA introduced democracy there and they are now the weakest countries in middle east.
The USA didn't introduce any democracy, USA just bombs it A to Z.
😂😂
And it's okay to say that you love dictatorship rather than democracy 😂 ..
don't find, excuses in Iraq and Libya
Libya is not in the middle east tho .... It's in North Africa. Also it never was a 'prosperous' country , except for the Ulta rich , everyone was living in shit . America did not introduce democracy, a revolution happened in 2011 that led to the former president being assassinated.
@@evanevan9483 they did have a somewhat modern state and free education and Healthcare and were free of war problems. And the gdp per capita was higher. So wealth disparity was less back then compared to now. Democracy doesn't suit every culture.
@@evanevan9483 westerner talking like he knows libya
@@harveyspecter1855 yes i know that, what i wanted to correct is that Libya is not in the middle east and America did not introduce democracy, it was the people who revolted against their leader. If you speak French or Arabic, there are a lot of documentaries talking about the Libyan revolution, there is this theory that actually European countries (who benefit from north Africa countries) wanted ghadafi gone because he wanted to unite all North African countries, kinda like the European union. This would have made them one of the strongest world powers .

Autocracy country. So glad I’m living democracy country with freedom .❤Singapore
You are joking for saying Singapore is a democracy
Lol, UAE is better than Singapore
Haha
Singapore is a dictatorship under the illusion of democracy. LKY was very specific on this, and created Singapore based on Sri Lanka. He ensured that authority was maintained while not succumbing to democracy drama while simultaneously projective the democracy as existing. Sri Lanka influenced LKY greatly to create Singapore in the way he did- he replicated the system then addressed the issues that plagued Sri Lanka to ensure the same wouldn’t happen to Singapore. As a result Sri Lanka and Singapore are two sides to the same coin- one a failure the other a success. That said LKY is one the greatest leaders of the modern age in my book, and is one who I’m studying as I seek to learn from Singapore just as he learned from Sri Lanka, and fix Sri Lanka.
Democracy? The same Party ruled Singapore since your independence. And current PM is the son of your Prime Minister 😂. If North Korea got Kim dynasty, you got Lee Dynasty

This is exactly why Islamic style of ruling cant work. I think this is a lesson for 1 billion Muslims to see. You cannot elect a caliphate that promises shahria law because sooner or later, an appointee will always try to keep that power within his bloodline.
There is different between khalifate and kingdom rulling i hope your understand don't confuse two things at the same time
@@yusufmohamed4433 Name one muslim country who elects a caliphate? None... The closest was UAE kingdom states, where the leader was ELECTED from a pool of royal bloodlines/ based on critierias specified by shahria ruling system . Majority of muslim world lacks education for if they had real education, they`d understand its not Islam vs West problem, its a human psychology problem.
Western Style democracy works because it uses various checks and balancing of different core institutions as opposed to Islamic style which only ONE... this never works and never will
Who told you that this is ( Islamic Style ) at all ? Islamic Style as you call it is NOT Islamic whatsoever and the real Islamic Style has NOT been practised for 1400 years since the assassination of Caliph Uthman , we know our history you don’t have to rant …
