@@inkpulp thanks for giving us a real look behind the scenes. I could easily enjoy a stream of watching all 3 of you just create art, but getting that view of the person on the other side of the table and what goes into the art is equally as fascinating🤘
I really love hearing Todd speak. The man is very intelligent and gives great life advice. Great job landing this interview with him. Little constructive criticism would be to be quiet while the man is speaking. You ask h8m a question, he starts talking at length and we as the listeners do not need you to say, “yeah, uh huh, mmhmm, yes, yep, yeah yeah, okay” or anything like that. The great interviewers ask the question and let the person speak. They stay quiet. You just sit there and nod your head in agreement instead of audibly responding. That made it difficult to listen to at times. Positive is I really enjoyed the questions you asked and how professional everyone was, except the dude who interrupted Todd kid story because his gf was locked out of the house. Also, I’m here to listen to Todd talk. Not listen to Mateo’s life story. Dude just needs to be quiet and let the guest talk.
Love this dude! He is part of the reason I got back into drawing. I self published a book last year that went really well to the point I’m making a full time living now as an indie writer. Todd was an important part of my childhood. I remember going to the comic book store with my Dad, and discovering Spawn by accident. Been hooked ever since
I like Todd also,he has a soldier's mentality, keep pushing forward till you reach your objective. I did 11 yrs & 3 months as a civilian contracter over-seas ( Qatar,Iraq,Kuwaitt & Afghanistan ) first as a mercenary, then logistics. We went places the US military couldn't go and did things the US military wouldn't do.Been back in america for almost 2 yrs now,a civilian again ( which is boring-LOL ) but, much, much safer tho. LOL. I liked not having to pay bills or pay taxes for 11 yr,that was-GREAT !!! LOL.
Todd is absolutely the MAN! His tenacity really is something to be emulated and admire imo for us artists. I know I really struggle with believing in my own artwork, I see all the flaws and negative crap SO easily it can really hold me back. I am absorbing that Todd mentality because fuck missing out on life anymore. Thanks, Todd!
It's awesome to see someone who has been successful for so many years still be so motivated. Great podcast guys, loved hearing Todd's perspective on things.
100% correct! Speaking as a creator, unless you are work-for-hire, you create what you love and put it out there, regardless of what anyone thinks, negatively or positively - and whether it's perfect or not (nothing is ever perfect in anyway shape or form!). It doesn't matter. Of course, it helps to have an audience, realistically speaking not every comics creator has the fan following that Todd does, so that you can, first sell your comics and second, to stay in business. And that is what Todd is saying; he has been creating comics since he was 23 or 24 years old - almost 40 years now. But in the end, what a creator of comics creates, he or she creates it for the love they have for whatever it is they are creating. Cheers and Happy New Year, 2024:-) AGL
Hi I just saw your comment after rewatching this Todd McFarlane interview. It really gave me that extra boost of confidence to keep creating no matter what people think. Not to be scared to put what I have out into the world. I wish you tons of success with your business or other creating ventures ✨️
"i could be a cult leader" LMAO. Yes Todd, yes you could.. His energy is absolutely contagious- just an amazing business guy/ artist/ cult leader......
Real talk to it's finest, I wish more open dialogue was shared in the community from pros like Todd on a regular. Real inspiring guys, taht's why I love this show.
This is like a magnum opus speech! "On my best and worst day I average out to zero." Mind blowing. "You should spend your time and money doing what you like."
I've heard Todd basically say the same thing in a few different videos, but damn if it isn't a breath of fresh air every single time! Really made my day! Keep going everyone!
The psychological concept you guys are talking about is the concept of whether the locus of your self-worth is local or foreign to yourself. Do you value yourself for the things you deem important or do you only value yourself only in the way others value you
I say this about every episode but damn do I mean it even more this time, Great episode!!! If a comics career is your passion and this epsiode doesn't light a fire under your ass I dont know what will. I would definitely drink the cult of Todd kool-aid!
Back in 1994 I was 13-14. I used to buy Wizard religiously and noticed they always bad mouthed Todd McFarlane. As a kid, this never made sense to me. His comics were the most popular, had awesome art and great stories from what I saw. Now as a 43 year old man I understand that Wizard was full of industry shills and HAD TO try and discredit Todd in every way shape and form. He was a threat to their goliath and they knew it. I’m glad Todd continues to do things his own way and is still kicking ass! 🔥
People needing validation for their beliefs on the internet…strong insight. They’re in trouble unless they find some absolutes outside of the opinions of others.
That's inspiring. I'm currently houseless. I'm doing all my comic art stuff out of my Dodge caravan. Plus. It is difficult to make the break. But I'm in it to win . There isn't comic book artists in La,Ca90044😎✌️. I keep my portfolio work on me thank g. O. D....
3:47 Mateo needs some manners! >:I Seriously!!!! Man is passionate about telling something and you interrupt?! >:I If you're gonna be sorry for something, DON'T DO IT in the first place!!!! >:I Get some manners! >:I If something be making a point, take a note and back track when he is done talking!!!! >:I
It seems impossible to not feel more motivated after listening to Todd. Wonderful episode
Thanks for listening!

TM was exactly was what was needed in the 1990s.
So many great artists got financially screwed over in the 1950s - 1980s.
Yeah,even Jack Kirby,which was sad.

The way Todd thinks… is outstanding

Wow! Incredibly interview/talk. Gotta ask though why was he in a serial killer apartment (lol) like no furniture or photos? Eric can relate some :P

Then he started talking about himself on a totally unrelated topic, fucking baseball... wtf.
todd could have a 20th career as a motivational speaker
Fuck. This was so good.
Thank you! and Thanks for listening!
todd is better than coffee
It would behoove you to use an ai voice cleaner.
Todd should refrain from caffeine before interviews. Geez Louise
Thats just how he AWLAYS is!
He doesn't drink coffee.
Its a great interview. But the summary of Todd's points and common sense is deeply annoying. Who is telling who bud? Lol.
Todd so damn cocky lol . I guess that’s how you gotta be to a degree in the industry. A humble cocky
Confident, yeah... but i never got cocky from him.
