The venue for these eye-opening experiences is Dredge Town, a collection of buildings that look like they’re right out of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. The sled drivers, known as mushers, will describe how the dogs are cared for and trained to maximize their strength and stamina to pull the sleds, often competitively in contests such as the grueling 1,000-mile Iditarod.
