Hello Jim, thank you for your very kind words! I thought you might be interested in knowing a little bit about my process in learning this piece. Being a virtuoso piece, the rote or spatial memory is very important. I have been working on this piece off and on for 30 years. I began practicing it at a much slower tempo, and played with the metronome. Every year or so, I was able to slightly increase the tempo. After countless correctly played repetitions and lots of hands alone practice, the patterns became ingrained in my muscle memory. It’s fun to play now because I don't have to think too much about the "dance steps.” They have become automatic and fully internalize it in my mind, ears, and body. :-) Slow and steady wins the race!

It was a long time before I could play it the way you have described!
