Even when my father was on his death bed, organizations were still wanting to give him awards when all the dozens of award's he'd received over his career were simply gathering dust in a storage closet. Some organizations simply want to connect their name to the name of someone famous by giving them an award. Award culture is gross. The truth is, there's far more talent outside of Hollywood than within it.

To be honest I think the film is going to receive much more criticism once it’s released in Mexico. The whole script seems to be a problem, they say things in a way that Spanish speaking people would never say. And it’s not just her accent, you can tell she doesn’t know what she is saying, her intonation in the language is completely off, it is very distracting and at times you can’t even understand what she is saying. Also it hard to watch a film that is supposedly based in Mexico were none of them have a Mexican accent, the husband has a Spanish accent, they didn’t even try. But, as a Spanish speaker myself, I understand everything Selena Quintanilla sang. It took effort to understand Selena Gomez. Maybe she could’ve done better if she had an accent coach? But then again, I’m not sure what went on on set (I’m an English and Spanish teacher).
Even when she learned spanish she sounded like a native and could carry a conversation with time. Artist like Selena only learn phonetically for their songs, they don’t pursue with actually learning the language with all the complexities, intonation. That’s also why she sounded off in the movie (even tho the character barely speak Spanish). Not a criticism, just an observation !

That said, the movie is a final product. It's her job to deliver those lines correctly. If it was an interview, people would appreciate her trying and wouldn't be that harsh. But for me, as a mexican, it was really hard to understand the dialogue. I had to listen to it twice, and I still am not sure if I got it.

To be honest I think the film is going to receive much more criticism once it’s released in Mexico. The whole script seems to be a problem, they say things in a way that Spanish speaking people would never say. And it’s not just her accent, you can tell she doesn’t know what she is saying, her intonation in the language is completely off, it is very distracting and at times you can’t even understand what she is saying. Also it hard to watch a film that is supposedly based in Mexico were none of them have a Mexican accent, the husband has a Spanish accent, they didn’t even try. The director should of hired someone to check the script.

I am mexican, from Mexico City. For me the problem is not her accent, the problem is the awful dialogue. She says sooo many words that we mexicans don't normally use in casual conversations and yeah I also believe she doesn't know what she is saying, when she's signing "venerada" and "adulada" i feel like she's only repeating sounds, it feels so awkward and Eugenio's criticism was spot on
I do think people had other expectations for Sabrina carpenter when she first released Expresso. It seemed an elegant and feminine seduction. The video wasn’t sexual, the song was catchy and confident. She had a vintage energy. But she eventually showed her true colours and the reality is that she is not that special. It’s more marketing than something else. Her attitudes show she is just an attention seeker.
