- Winter seems to have made another appearance and the sap stopped flowing, but I did manage to get enough to start my sap boiling operation.

Salut Lisette! Quite a “production” you have going there! Your propane stove Camp Chef Grill is acting up because for some reasons the Regulators don’t work well when it’s cold and humid (makes condensation which freezes the regulators and obstructs the lines) I’ve learned it the hard way when trying to barbecue some steaks in winter…If the weather is not helping, maybe try bringing the whole stove and tanks inside your cabin for a while (don’t use it inside because it consumes oxygen) but have them warm-up to room temperature and dry-out and then take them back outside immediately before use. Regarding the camp stove; one issue that is common is the regulator is in "excess flow" mode. This is reset by 1) turn off the gas bottle. 2) disconnect the regulator from the bottle. 3) close all the burners. 4) re-connect the regulator. 5) turn on the bottle. 6) light the stove. If the bottle runs out and the burners are not shut off, then when the new bottle is turned on the sudden rush of gas makes the flow limiter think something is broken and so the regulator shuts the flow way down so there isn't a catastropic rush of gas!
Like was said previously, check for bugs in the burners and lines also.

I was going to comment that is sounds like air is trapped in the lines, but what you are describing is better and the regulator is a bit stuck until it gets cleared

You might want to take the hoses off of your cap stove burners and check for plugs in them. Propane can freeze at lower temps when under pressure. It won't take but a few minutes to check for this and it might be the problem that you are having. If it is by taking them off and taking them into the house where it is warmer, they will thaw in just a few minutes and they will be ready to use again. I hope that this will help you solve your problem. The maple syrup that you hae collected will be something to enjoy year round.

Nice! I just finished my first batch of syrup yesterday and ended up with 1 gallon of syrup! I believe that's the most I've ever made so far! Plus that's only half the sap I've collected! Which was roughly 40 gallons of sap. I'm working on my second batch now which is another 40 gallons of sap. I'll be making Taffy and butter with this batch! Looking good Lissette! ❤
Good morning my Beautiful friend! Lisette, When I was a younger guy, I would tap the maple trees in the woods behind the house where I grew up. I would evaporate the sap using hardwood, so I know just how much work goes into the process, but it truly is a labor of love, and the end results are nothing but heavenly deliciousness. Watching this video segment displays just how much you enjoy doing what you do, and might I mention, you always look so beautiful while you do it!

Good Sunday morning to you, Lisette. I had a similar problem with my gas grill a few years ago. My issue was spiders in the rubber hoses. I blew them out with air. You're going to have a great maple syrup harvest. It's hard work, but it's going to be rewarding. Take care, my friend.

Try bringing your regulator in and thaw it out. Our duckblind stove would freeze up and we had to thaw it out and dry it out. Just a small bit of ice in the wrong spot will keep them from working properly. Also sometimes there was a small bug in the line that I dug out with a broom straw. Good luck with your syrup hope it is a vintage year for you.

Burners get clogged up every so often . Take a paperclip, straighten it , and run it down each individual burner port hole 🕳 📎 . Some burners are separate pieces , that you can disassemble, so you can clean them 😉

Making Maple syrup is a long process but so worth it.
Miss Snow is such good company. ature surrounds you. You are so lucky to be surrounded with your wilderness. For some us it sure beats the hustle and bustle of city life. Each to his own.

Hello David and Ro! I hope your back gets better. It can take 12 hours or more but this depends on how much you keep adding maple sap to the pot. If you boil let’s say 10 gallon only, this should take about 3 hours.

One thing I miss about living in Florida as apposed to Northern NY on the Canadian border is all the fresh real maple syrup.
Mixing with vodka or German Schnapps (Wheat Schnapps) is dangerously delicious.

Hello Lisette. Happy Palm Sunday. I have a 150,000 BTU propane space heater I use in my garage, plus a couple smaller ones. I'd bet if you brought the whole ball of wax inside, it would work just fine. Just a heads - up. Have a good week & GOD BLESS. 🙏❤🍻

I'm not sure how cold it is but it is a good chance that it is the regulator on the camp chef that is the problem . The old rifle over the header going into the living room is beautiful . You do such an amazing job with your video's . From the filming to the editing and incorporating the music into the video's . They are superb .

Goo Evening, If I may kindly suggest, in order to save some of your propane cost, would be to cover your stove with foil on the top of the grill and around your pots. You will love my tip after seeing the savings on your propane and having better boiling performance and capacity !!! Cheers !!!

Perhaps try re-seating the connection @ 30 lb tank, but I'm sure you've tried that..!!
I keep Hot-Paws just for that reason (When LP tank connections won't co-operate) Give 'em a little warmth..
Sometimes the rubber seal gets frozen out of position and won't provide proper seal.

I boiled the same way you are doing it for years. I had to watch the amount of alcohol I drank. You do not want to fall asleep at that critical moment.
I read a rule of thumb is that you need 5 gallons of sap to make a quart of maple syrup. So. 100 gallons of maple sap to make 5 gallons of syrup and a half a cord of wood to keep it boiling. Mostly soft woods work best

Hi Lisette, You should try an Irish beer too. Smithwicks is a red ale, can also be mixed with lemonade to make a shandy. Or Guinness which is a stout and can be use when making a stew or cakes.

Looks like cheese cloth filtering the syrup. Not seen this in decades. As a young boy, drank some sap fresh from the tree. More I drank , the more i wanted. Very tasty. Enjoy the fruit of your labor.

The pressure in the propane tank drops in cold temperatures. That's why the burners on the grill have a low flame.
What a great person to mark hole with the stick. That could gave caused a lot of damage.
