      So true, and of movies and clothing styles, though they seem to come back more often than themepark rides. Of course, if they went VERY far back there'd be an injury issue! :) OSHA isn't "vintage" either (smile--and Jonti, that's USA govt-ese for Occupational Safety and Health Administration--the folks who supervise not just park rides but machinery and factories and lots of other human-machine danger-prone interactions, sometimes OVERsupervise in fact.)

    I think the reason the bobsled coaster has plane-themed trains is because it's based off Flying Turns at Konobel's (I probably butchered that horribly). It's the only wooden bobsled in the world and it took several years to get it open to the public.

    Zepharus is actually based on the Coney Island Cyclone, it's the only coaster left that uses those 4 bench PTC trains. Also all the Flying Turns rides were Airplane themed, even the current Flying Turns at Knoebels is plane themed.

    Since the vending machines are space out, you can put your custom ones in between them so it doesn't have the gaps.

  • @conradmilne8766
    @conradmilne8766 6 лет назад +1

    One thing that you could do with the new claw, popcorn gum all and fortune teller is put them in the arcade but put the ones you made in between the new ones to fill up the space

  • @ksweigert12
    @ksweigert12 6 лет назад +1

    See Flying Turns at Knoebels. It is the only wooden bobsled in existence. It's most likely taken it's themeing from Flying Turns being that it's the only one. I've been on it a number of times, it's a lot of fun and very smooth.

    I go to Holiday World every year, and they have, or had, three of the rides in the vintage pack. Reminds me once again that Holiday World is the world's oldest theme park.

    For the cranes you could build your own arcade games that do not work in between the claw machines but the guest will only use the actual shop but the fake machines are for ascetics. You could also add fake vending machines in between the working ones to make them look like they are all together. Just a idea. Mabey this will help. Thx

      I think it's time they add classic arcade games that would of went well with this pack. Skee Ball, Hit a Cat, Throw a pitch ( aka bottles). Would of just been superb. Frontier done excellent job I just wish they give maybe DLC 2 part kinda thing.

  • @jinx20001
    @jinx20001 6 лет назад

    that crane machine happiness explanation actually makes perfect sense, customers who play the game want to - play the game and be rewarded for what they assume is skill, if you put the win rating at 100 percent I don't know about you but I would feel a little like it was a pointless exercise if I win every time because I can just go to a shop and buy the toy. so yeh they thought that through quite well.

    They do make gumball machines that large. Would probably see them in a theme park or some themed story with lots of 'grand' theming. However, yeah, the typical gumball machine that might sit outside a grocery story or in a mall is a lot smaller.
    I think the key is to make the machine look like it is suppose to be that big.

  • @ezra2361

    Hmm, if you turn of the supports of the Aces Sky and use those new fancy supports they gave us... You can sort of build the steel version of the bobsleds! Oh Frontier, you never fail to surprise! :D Oh, and it runs on physics, not on a track. This was confirmed by Spoiler Sam in the livestream earlier today!

    This is the last video I've watched out of your Vintage DLC series. Up until now, while the new stuff is cool I just didn't see myself using much beyond a few pieces, but these rides have gotten me so nostalgic. It's exactly the kind of stuff that you would find in an Australia showground. The kind of stuff that is only around for a few days a year before they get packed up and put on trucks to be moved to another town. I know the Vintage pack is for a nostalgia but I really didn't expect it to hit my nostalgia.

  • @maxsayo

    If you are interested in learning about a park that feels kinda like pinewood hills, back in my home in the northwest there is a seasonal event called the puyallup fair. lots of vintage carnival rides and being the evergreen state, plenty of trees in the scenery. We also have an expo, hobby, and farmers hall where people show off what they have created, their hobby collections and then the farmers compete for biggest, or best quality produce. I know this is more fair themed but being a celebration that started in 1900 and its traditions still carry over to today which is why we have those halls along with the old carnival rides.

  • @Thelonewanderer352
    @Thelonewanderer352 6 лет назад

    The reason why the trains have a plane theme to it is because it was dedicated to the only surviving original wooden bobsled coaster in the world called flying turns and the trains are themed to a aircraft to complete that look

    A bobsled would look amazing in Pinewood! The only thing is it could possibly be a steel one (the only wooden one was a technical nightmare and took 6-8 years to open) you could re colour to track to a different colour, and build steel supports! Like you said, Blackpool has one

      Yeah, eight long years. For a while people thought Flying Turns would never open. The biggest problem was having to design the cars from scratch since nothing that already existed was suitable and reliable on the wooden track. The bugs are worked out now but the safety procedures often lead to long queue times. It's not the most thrilling ride but it's very smooth and the track is beautiful to look at. It's like you're in a half-pipe bowling alley.

    • @dlfendel2844
      @dlfendel2844 6 лет назад

      I wonder with the real ones how they solve the issue of wood expanding and contracting with heat and cold. I'd think even with expansion joints sooner or later the "gaps" would widen considerably and the level or smoothness would go out of 'em.

    Can't wait for the updated Pinewood HIlls! The "Centrum" aka the Round-Up is a really fun ride, and I love that we now have the less flashy Eli Bridge Scrambler in the game. Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania has a Flying Turns, which is what the Ace's Sky is. If you're looking to add that to Pinewood Hills too, I'd recommend watching a POV of that one. It's actually quite a fun little ride.

    Ok first off huge bonus points for properly saying centripetal force rather than centrifugal force. When I was a kid I remember going a a variant of this that IMHO was way cooler. You entered into a round room, padded walls but NOTHING else not even bars to hold on to. Then the room started spinning and once it got fast enough the floor would drop away! lol so much fun.Am I officially vintage now?

    • @dlfendel2844
      @dlfendel2844 6 лет назад

      I wonder also if it has something to do with weight--that big (and in those days probably lead cast) plane on the front would move the center of gravity of the cars forward and may improve the ride characteristics. I just wish it didn't get in the way of the POV ride view so much.

      Nope it's based on the 4 bench PTC trains used on the Coney Island Cyclone. The Scenic Railways trains have a brakeman in the middle as the Scenic Railway doesnt have upstop wheels from preventing it from jumping the track or brakes at the end of the ride!

    I'd guess the bobsled coaster IS based on physics, not tracks, because that "collector" rail set to get it back onto the lift hill would imply it might hit it at various angles. We'll see. Lovely stuff!

    • @Geekism

    • @ezra2361
      @ezra2361 6 лет назад

      Just want to let you know that not all things on tracks in Planet Coaster are actually used, most are simply scenery to make it look realistic. A good example of it is the catwalk on the swinging suspended coaster, there’s a guideline to stop the cars from swinging in the catwalk and there’s wheels under the cars to use it (like in IRL), but the cars will still swing no matter what! ;)

    • @SeekerLancer
      @SeekerLancer 6 лет назад +1

      The fact that they bothered to put in the physics gives me hope of a metal one being added even if it is just a reskin it would be nice to have.

    • @dlfendel2844
      @dlfendel2844 6 лет назад +1

      I'd think with the ability to recolor it you could simulate metal if you wanted to. I just wish the cars weren't so clearly themed--more generic would be good, and not having that "wing" thing in front would make the POV riding view clearer and more scary the way it should be.

    In my opinion, I'm disappointed on the wooden coaster. I thought that they were going to add a coaster inspired by the "Giant Dipper" in Santa Cruz CA. The coaster car itself had a nice design and the coaster goes along well with the pack, due to the fact that it is nearly 94 years old. :/

      Yeahbut--when it crashed and killed all those people (in the movie "Rollercoaster!" of course--smile) well...bad press. :)

      The trains are based on the 4 bench PTC trains currently only found on the Coney Island Cyclone in Brooklyn NY. The Giant Dipper uses 1990s DH Morgan trains which replaced old Arrow Dynamics trains.

      I didn't. This is all the stuff from the Vintage DLC. The Wild Mouse came as part of the free update, 1.7, and is covered in another video.
