I would like to add that Pana is investing but has a lot of income comparing to other teams.
Greek, Turkish, Russian and Serbian teams can spend money with their rich presidents even if they have no income. should be used if possible

If we have income it's from the sponsorship deals we just got because of our investing. Like the Aktor name deal. And the OAKA name deal.
The rest comes from our tickets and season tickets. Getting exclusive rights to OAKA for 50 years helps too.
We are not Real, Barcelona or Bayern. We don't have some mega football brand that can give us 20 million like it's nothing.
We are not CSKA or any of the Serbian teams either. We don't have any help from the state whatsoever.
@@DimShamrock This is what I mean. Last year from every sold out game team earned at least 1 million per game. From Greek finals, income was 1.5 per game. Sponsors, suites shops will contribute even more next year. Also more sold out means more sponsorships and highest fees. Don't forget the TV income.

Guys I am sorry but when panathinaikos had the guard line up of diamantidis spanoulis Saras nicholas and pekovic batiste at center and won everything,we can't say that a team can't work cause of the talent and roles.If 6 stars could make it work I think 3 or 4 together can do it also.
Diamantidis was the best defender in Europe and required little shots. He was a superstar at doing the dirty work and defending the best guard of the other team (or any player really from 1 - 5). Saras and Spanoulis shared the minutes as main ball-handlers and Nicholas was a catch and shoot 2-guard without any time on the ball. They were a better match (and better players in general to be honest). Brown, Nunn and Sloukas are similar players and no-one wants to guard anyone. Big talent usually finds a way of course.
Diamantidis had more minutes than the others also more assists per game and very similar ppg
3D is the GOAT, a player that lost incentive because of unprecedented success with Panathinaikos. Diamantidis is present at top alltime stats of EL having significant less game participations than the leaders of the tables. Diamantidis was the most complete player ever. Don't think that such a player will ever exist.

Mike is a bit jealous i think.. Lorenzo is a very good fit for Panathinaikos for many reasons. The clyburn-efes comparison is not valid.
If Mike was jealous, Mike would've come one of the 15 times we asked him to. Apparently he doesn't want to, at this point.

What you guys don't understand is that Lorenzo is just going to replace vildoza. It's an upgrade already. And we alla know that ataman like 3 guard line ups so Grant won't be undermined.
Replacing Luca with Lorenzo is like replacing a needle in your tongue with a cheeseburger.

Grant is a defender. Sloukas is a creator. Nunn is a sharpshooter. Brown can both create and score.
Where there's a will there is a way. Let them speak all they want. I didn't see any problems when Real did the exact same thing last year.
@@DimShamrock Grant isn't just a diffenter, he shoots clutch shots too,dunks, passes, he literally does everything at the same level. His stats would be way higher, if he had more playing minutes.

Lorenzo Brown is a great transfer. It's a long season with injuries and fatigue. If a starter get's injured, the whole plan changes. Brown ensures that PAO will stick to the plan. Sloukas has injury issues and he's not young anymore. Regarding Grand, Brown's coming will set him free from the PG position, since he's not a great handler nor creator. But Grant is not going to be degraded. He's the adhesive substance with any other guard, especially in the three-guard formations that coach Ataman prefers.
Panathinaikos will have an issue with so many stars like when they had: Diamantidis, Spanoulis, Jasikevicius, Nicholas, Pekovic, Batiste. The issue will be that there is no room for so many trophies, and they need to expand the trophies exhibition room

The point of a move like Lorenzo is that he knows that will have a role.
Not the first violin but a role so he will have his first euroleague.
I think that he perfers a euroleague that he will be a part of a team instead a great basketball season in personal.
None guarantees the next title will come again in Athens.If Pana will be in final four none knows what can happen in two do or die marches.
But with Lorenzo Brown for sure Panathinaikos will play much better basketball than this year.
We start with this and hope have again a great end in the end of next May.
Panathinaikos in 2009 had 4 top guards: Diamantidis, Spanoulis, Jaskevicious, Drew Nicholas, plus Nikos Chatzivretas who was a great luxury for a reserve. So essentially there were 4-5 top players in positions 1 and 2, which reminds me next year's setup (Sloukas, Nunn, Brown, Grant, Grigonis). If Ataman manages to find the proper balance it'd be a great team. But Pana really needs a tall and strong center, Lessor cannot carry us another year almost on his own in positions 4-5
as far as i remember he is the guy that was telling us that pana will fight for the 10th spot....

Like many said already, when u ve won your 5th star bringing Diamantidis and Saras off the bench(!!) then yeah, i guess u can also do that with a 34-35 yo Sloukas and Grant as well.
Sloukas' issue in Oly wasnt 'his minutes' it was mainly Leadership, and that one he has it undisputed in Pao, even with a player of the caliber of Nunn in the squad.
Clyburn to Efes is for various reasons incomparable.
I get what they're saying. Sometimes too much added talent can hurt an already good team. However, the other side of that coin is that if managed correctly, it can change its level as well, no matter how high that is.
And it's not like Lorenzo's signing changed the original plan of the coach. Last summer Vildoza's signing was considered one of the biggest ones for PAO and he was expected to have a major contribution in last year's campaign. The fact that he did not, limited the choices the coach had and at times when Sloukas and others were injured or out of form, the team struggled. That's how the Greek cup was lost to Olympiakos. If you want to make sure that you will be a serious contender for the title next season you need to take these into account.
Before the f4 the most common critique for the PAO team was that it lacked depth. For those who do not know, Sloukas was (very) doubtful for the f4 due to injury again and let's not forget that he is 34 going to 35... What I expect to happen this season is for Sloukas to have a "managed" playing time at least during certain periods in order to be available and ready when it matters.
Also, Grant was great this year and I expect him to continue like that the next season. Playing a bit less due to Lorenzo's arrival might even make him better...
In the end it all comes down to the coach and how he will manage the players both on and off court.

The transfer of this type was planned since last year. It's just that Giannakopoulos didn't expect to win the EuroLeague right away. I'm expecting another similar transfer.
Panathinaikos has done this before with Saras, Spanoulis, Diamantidis and Nicholas but although those players were superstars they played in a more selfless way than the current line up. I mean whose minutes will you cut down in order to "fit" Lorenzo? I'm not sure about this move. Hope it works out.

Lorenzo is a monster (i used to watch him in Crvena Zvezda here in Serbia), but i don't think he's what PAO needs right now! For a number of reasons...but, i guess they have that "we prove that we know what's best for us" argument in their hands these days.
Btw. Luca Vildoza IS the most underrated player in EL, and i will say it in Court, if needed!

Vildoza is still a very good player, he just wasn't a good enough fit this year.seems to work better when being first fiddle but when he got minutes in EL and plenty more in Greek league he was the worst out of the 4 guards by a wide margin.Still a very good guard for the majority of EL teams especially if he finds a good fit

I was just talking about his pure quality, talents and possibilities.And i don't agree that he is OK for majority of EL, he is more then OK with every single one of them - if you know how to "profit" of him (just like Jordan Loyd, Billy Baron, Maodo Lo, Williams-Goss, Shabazz etc.) Go type "Vildoza destroying ___" on YT, in Crvena Zvezda's Belgrade Jersey...
p.s. Not to mention HIM AND FACU CAMPAZZO TOGETHER...Belgrade's Stark Arena was whole in blue-white-blue (ARG flag), and Luca had some of his best performances against "biggest clubs" in EL!
he may be great player but in panathinaikos season ( including greek league or cup) he was missing continues open shots, was making childish mistakes on defense and was having bad games , one after another.. i dont know whats wrong with him and his confidence.. but if u want to play for panathinaikos YOU NEED to be professional and effective either you play for 1seconds or for the whole game!
His appearances ( and i watched him for over 30 games last season) were at best mediocre..
thats why he is leaving... i trully believed in him... but his perfomances were so poor that his departure is inevitable!
Even though I am an Olympiacos fan, sadly, Attaman can control so many stars, none of them will be disappointed by their role.
Ask how the Diamandidis - Spanoulis - Sarounas - Nicolas 4-star play worked...

Panathinaikos had 3 guards because of how things went with Vildoza. Grigonis needed to play as a shooting guard whilst his position is small forward to make the rotation work. So obviously Brown will take Vildoza time plus 4-5 minutes from Nunn and 4-5 minutes from Sloukas which was overused for his age and injury proneness. Also Ataman used Grant on small forward position many times in the championship series with Olympiacos because of his height and defense. So don’t worry we’ll be ok we know you don’t like Pana either way.

Sloukas and lorentzo are 34 years old both, facilitators that controlling tha pace, first option is passing for both of them .grand is a defensive beast that can score and nun the ultimate scorer who can play very good defense if needed perfect backcourt. One more legit player at the 5 not a star a decent player and the team is ready for the 8th star .hello's from Greece you should all look for the 2nd place team .
You can not wait for players like Grant, Lessor, and Nun to play 30-32 minutes on average again. There are also a lot of derbies in the Greek league with Oly. One injury and you lose a lot. 4 high-level guards are the best road to a tough competitive Euroleague. Vildoza did not play well and didn't have much time because Ataman didn't like his playstyle. Brown is also a point guard who can assist way better than Nun. Pao didn't have that except Sloukas.

Nothing is guaranteed... No back to backs no nothing. BUT , i want to remind you the 2009 Panathinaikos team , on positions 1 and 2. Diamantidis , Spanoulis , Saras , Drew Nicholas .... So if youve got a good coach/manager then everyone can fit on a team...
If they didn't get him some other team would had. It is how you use the extra talent that's going to make the difference. It was a wise move.

Grant will play at position 3 more now that Lorenzo signed. The main guards will be Sloukas Nunn Brown with 4th choice Grant who will be probably 1st-2nd choice for position of Small Forward. Don't forget Grigonis was/is a guard and played the whole season in the small Forward position. Grant is even better than Grigonis in defense.
So if someone is getting less minutes from Lorenzo's signing this will be Grigonis or Papapetrou.
The time won't be taken from grant , it will be taken from grigo or pap

Guys analyze the transer deeper . Panathinaikos NEEDED a second star playmaker cause when sloukas wasnt on the court the team had trouble finding rhythm. Imagine when sloukas was injured

so first things first pana remove lorenzo from the pool of available guards so nobody can pick him and believe me everyone wanted him even those who dont have the budget to pay him.second they pick a guard who makes the gap between grant and sloukas smoother cause he is a guy who can create and plays pick n roll as sloukas but has the size of grant and almost the same defensive skills too with a liitle less burst in his moves comparing to grant.third they pick a guard who can pass vertically beside other things meaning they wont lose the part that vilzoza did.fourth they camouflage some weakeness in small forward potition at the same time with a guard arrival.the size of grant and lorenzo and their defensive ability make them capable of playing as a small forwrard and keep 3 guards at the floor at the same time like ataman likes.last but not least they cover their ass in case nunn goes to nba with one more star so they wont be in a bad potition of try find one later at the season,that gave them space to breath and still be good even if they bring a player like kyle guy in worst case scenario to replace nunn.

Regarding Lorenzo Brown: Ataman plays a lot with 3 guards and he wants to be as much flexible as possible with his guards. Many times, he just rotates them in a game to see who is in his good day. 1-2 errors and out, lets bring the other one in. He does that a lot. Only with Nunn he didn't do it. He was letting Nunn play even if he was having a bad quarter. He was giving him as much time as he needed and showing him trust because Nunn had shown him, that he always delivers in 4th Quarters. If you isolate Nunns stats taking into account only 4th quarters, his stats are from another planet. One more thing you need take into account is that by singing Brown you are putting him out of the market. Many teams wanted him, and now they can’t have him (Olympiacos included).

We need a tall guy that is hungry for titles. Not Hezonja that is only looking to get more money. Brown is an amazing player but as you said not someone missing from Pana. I am afraid he might break the chemistry of the team but I just hope this won’t happens if Ataman uses every player right.

as PAO is an average overrated team.
On one hand we have Mike James, a guy that wherever hes gone failed to bring the title, a selfish guy that only cares about personal records. On the other hand we have this podcast guy that is ready to cry again. They didnt get a lesson after what pao did this year. They are now even more afraid of whats coming that they dare to say that Lorenzo Brown is not needed in our team. Brother, its not our fault that whatever small team you Zalgiris, will never win any championship and will always get smacked from the majority of euroleague teams. But please, when you guys talk about Pana, wash your mouth. And Mike james, i understand you are jealous that while you were here you failed to win the euroleague, but please dont talk nonesense just cause you are jealous. See the bigger picture for a second here. Sloukas was not happy with minutes before in his career, and now you bring arguably a top 3 pg in the team. He is gonna get less minutes plus grant was a very important piece that is not gonna be there with almost 30 minutes in crucial games. With nunn, sloukas and brown you will be lacking a bit in the defensive end. We have to wait and see ofcourse, but big signings like this are not one dimensional.
You are being unfair. Mike gave everything when he was inthe team.He was just unlucky with the timing. I would love for him to join Pana at the end of his career and win the trophy, not as a key player now, but to secure his legacy and not to be remembered as one of the greatest who never won theleague.

@@gmax-p3f Mike James is an average player. He is exactly where he belongs. To a team with money that they don’t care to give him the ball for 40 min and get as many shots as he wants. He tried to do the same here. That’s why no coach liked him. Give Nunn or Sloukas the same role as James in Monaco and they are going to have double the stats that he had. No one is going to remember him as a great player. On the other hand lorenzo brown proved that he can play along other stars, Baldwin for example. Also Ataman likes to play with 3 guards, so Jerian is not going to sit on the bench, so their opinion is totally wrong again. They just hate Pao that’s all. These guys will never learn from their mistakes, the only guy that has a little ball knowledge is Augustas, all the other guys are talking nonsense on every podcast.
Guys I also believe in the team’s vision, but it’s better to stay humble. And regarding the podcast, they guys are stating their own personal opinions here, no matter if we disagree they still have the right to speak their minds.
