Adam Barnett it helps with the positioning - trying to figure out what direction you want to go in, where you want to start. For me anyway, its like testing out the direction. But it can also be to readjust the pencil and help it sit comfortably, as drawing for a long time can become slightly discomforting and crampy.
Kittycarlo I dislike the sound of wooden pencils, but I still watch this one because you get other sounds along with the pencil sounds. I enjoy when you can hear the person sigh, or breathe more deeply at certain points in the video.. I also like when he’s crinkling some kind of plastic, or when he flicks the pencil lines out towards the end because the sound is different. Even if we don’t enjoy all of the sounds, there are still several that stick out.
@huddlpj Gonna have to get back into drawing and artsy stuff again, threw it all away in order to learn furniture refinishing which provided me a good living. But alas time has done gone and diminished my refinishing skills which was art too you know, but I have here in my garage 3 tackle boxes of all I need to start drawing again. Plus quite a few tablets of artsy paper. You've inspired me now, will Share if I figure out how to post stuff, thanks Mr attick.

I must be weird because I really hate the sound of wood pencils . They make my ears hurt . So I only use mechanical
If you don't like the sound of the pencil put it to mute and watch
