I fully agree with Scott. I saw her sing live at LifeLight and her voice is unique and if people want to hear Lacey, they should listen to Lacey, but I really like what Kristin brings to the band. I can tell she has a background in theater and many other forms of music. She is very talented and pleasant and interesting to listen to.
Kristen is ridiculously talented and no one could match Lacey's passion for something she wrote herself. I think Kristen works well with the band and I'm excited to see them Saturday :)

I understand people's attachment to Lacey. Flyleaf with Lacey was one of the first concerts I ever went to and it was the first thing that made me cry because of the beauty rather than the pain. I was/am a huge fan. Kristen is not Lacey, and that isn't a bad thing. She is amazing in her own right. For a lot of stuff, I like her better. I think it's just nostalgia and the discomfort of change that people don't like. I really do love them both.
The old flyleaf songs just don't compliment her voice, simply because she's not the one who wrote it, she didn't put her emotions into it. She's not Lacey, but she has a nice voice. The new music will compliment her voice better and include her own emotion.
I love how people are like "She made it her own". Like it's a good thing. Truthfully, it just sounds like a decent cover. She is by no means a bad singer, she's just not Lacey.

I just started getting into this band a few weeks ago. Both singers are extremely talented. I didn't have a long lasting attachment with Lacey being the singer like most people did. However, I love her voice and my favorite song with her as the singer would have to be So I Thought. In regards to the new singer, Kristen, I love her voice too. Both are a little different but I really enjoy their new music. This is an amazing performance by Kristen.

I had the chance to meet Kristen and hear a live acoustic session here in Las Vegas today, and the feeling she puts into this song is beautiful. For those of you who want to hate... she didn't make Lacey leave... she left the band all on her own... get over it. She is doing the best she can, and I think it is awesome.
It's different because no matter who the bass player or drummer is the sound of the instrument doesn't change. But a voice, especially like Lacey's, cannot be replaced. Each voice is unique and the sound does change. I do agree that you should love the whole band and it's sad when a member leaves but you just can't replace a singer.

Her voice is a bit more (not meant to be offensive) child-like in a good way, and in my opinion is meant for more supportive, happy songs and not so much for serious, meaningful songs like Broken Wings. .Ok I have to say this Lindsey isn't a bad singer. But what made Lacey so great was that when she opened her mouth to sing I could feel every fiber of her being coming through her voice. After hearing this I know why New Horizons maybe my last flyleaf album. Lacey didn't just sing, music was her outlet. I think if the new singer focused on what she could give I think she could give us something just as special, her talent is wasted on something she cannot replicate.

As a fan of her stuff from the Vedera days, and a long time fan of Flyleaf, I wholly appreciate both of you not just trash-talking Kristen. She's a hell of a singer, but I can agree with what you both say. I think she needs to just let the music lead her instead of over-thinking it too much. But given that some of these songs are YEARS old with the band and its original front-runner, filling Lacey's role has to be intimidating. I can't wait for the chance to hear them live in person.
I think the reason why Kirsten sounds so rehearsed is the fact that she is Lacey's replacement and as so she may have to try and sound similar to Lacey. I think she may be feeling it but maybe it's a lot of pressure taking songs that people are use to and trying to do as good as the original. She has the vocal talent but people are use to Lacey's high pitched voice and her trills.

Especially if someone hasn't listened to them in a while and they go to search for them.. and Lacey not being in the band anymore would be disappointing. (exactly what just happened to me.) I thought it was someone covering one of their songs on a different video.
Granted, she isn't Lacey and she does have HUGE shoes to fill BUT her voice is truly amazing and it'll probably take some getting used to. Once they make a new album with some songs tailored to Kristen's voice, everything will be legit.
