Even as a space enthusiast, I care very little about Blue Origin and New Shepard. However, hearing about how much this launch meant to William Shatner suddenly made me interested, though only for a short time. I'm very happy for him.
Why? That booster landing was amazing. Didn't realize we had anything that could do that already. Plus, I didn't know the capsule would touch down on land.
Calling civilians astronauts is a slap in the face to decades of REAL astronauts who spend years studying math, various sciences and aeronautics to become one. Enough is enough!
An astronaut (from the Greek "astron" (ἄστρον), meaning "star", and "nautes" (ναύτης), meaning "sailor") is a person trained, equipped, and deployed by a human spaceflight program to serve as a commander or crew member aboard a spacecraft.
A fantastic moment in all of our lives, especially to those who grew up as Trekkies! Thanks to everyone who made it happen for William “Capt. Kirk” Shatner. He took us all along for the ride. And the emotions after landing were felt by all. Congrats to Blue Origin. A day to be remembered, always. 😎👍🇳🇿🍺🍺🚀✨🌟⭐️💫✨🌎🤩
He looked out the window, & saw a gremlin, tearing the cowling off the engine..... "I am not insane" he shouted. as they took him away, in a straight jacket.
When Shatner took the role of Kirk he never would of thought that he would one day be a real life astronaut. Amazing. Only wish Gene Roddenberry was sitting beside him.
Couple things to keep in mind. Their booster always has a shakey landing and their capsule landing is very hard. 15mph is like a fit person running at full speed and than coming to an immediate stop with a wall. Blue Origin is like getting a 70 grade. 1 point away from failing.
Not quite that bad since they're sitting in reclined seats on suspension and there are landing rockets that fire right before touching down greatly reducing impact.
Hi. The landing looks quite a bit more rough than it is. There is a jet of air blown out of the capsule right before landing that kicks up all of the dust, and the actual landing speed is like 2-3 MPH as you ride in on a cushion of air. It's fairly similar to a hovercraft or air table for vibration isolation.
@@jareddbh unfortunately it doesn't look like those air jets fire before landing. I know they are supposed to be there but both landings have looked very rough. I know on the first launch, there was a lot of question about if they were used.
How is the booster able to touch down gently but the capsule (holding more valuable cargo ie the astronauts) slams down to the ground? Seems priorities are backwards
Now watch Elon Musk launch Sir Patrick Stewart into upper space doing a Sonnet in a crystal cupola testing voice wave projection in a vacuum or something

9:23 CAPSULE TOUCHDOWN
9:53 JEFF BEZOS OPENS THE DOORS
I would not think he's 90 years old. I would think he's in his 70s. Most people would lose their head to Dementia or Alzheimer's after 80. He's not even walking with a cane! He's doing awfully well physically and mentally for his age! He might be able to live to be 110 if he's doing this well at 90!
I´m in tears as I think that I knowing someone for so many years who is in that rocket

He looked out the window, & saw a gremlin,
tearing the cowling off the engine.....
"I am not insane" he shouted.
as they took him away, in a straight jacket.
It would be nice to give William Shatner the chance to experience what he is most know for. *The final frontier*
Not the biggest fan of Bezos, but his listening to Shatner and riveted attention was pretty classy.
I love William Shatner.
Thank you Jeff Bezos for sending our captain into space.
My question is, did Shatner at some point say”Mr. Sulu, Warp 1 engage!”
When Shatner took the role of Kirk he never would of thought that he would one day be a real life astronaut. Amazing. Only wish Gene Roddenberry was sitting beside him.
That was really awesome. And credit to Jeff Bezos for just letting Bill Shatner talk without interruption. Classy all round.
@@heatshield It doesn't look like the landing rockets or airjets fired. I have looked for a better video and it just kinda hits the dirt.
How is the booster able to touch down gently but the capsule (holding more valuable cargo ie the astronauts) slams down to the ground? Seems priorities are backwards
One word...MAGNIFICENT.
Now watch Elon Musk launch Sir Patrick Stewart into upper space doing a Sonnet in a crystal cupola testing voice wave projection in a vacuum or something
one word... engage.
Ride on!😁
I'd pay to watch that livestream.
To fly up over 350,000 feet into space and land safely back on earth in 10 minutes, i still cant believe it even after seeing it. Mind blowing.
Scottie yelling: I'm giving her all she's got captain!
Shatner is so filled with emotion he might almost make a noise, if you know what I mean wink wink.
i wish spock was there with him 😢
He was. I truly do not believe you are gone until those that had known you are gone.
That’s why I always think of my friends.
What an awesome opportunity to be approved as one would be blessed to fly into space. So greatful you all had a successful voyage.
