    • @BGvibes115

      T. Elisia exactly 😩😩....crazy how some ethnic groups can go back to their homelands & reconnect with family & many many of us African Americans can't 😭😭

    • @heritage.home.crochet
      @heritage.home.crochet 7 лет назад +9

      T. Elisia Not true you guys, for my entire life, literally since I was like 7 I've always wanted to know what my heritage. I just took my DNA ancestry test to see which countries I am linked to. I feel like this great unknown will finally be solved and I will have a clearer picture of who I am.

    • @elisiaaxo
      @elisiaaxo 7 лет назад +8

      lhenle55 but we still won't know our family if we have any there... I want to take a DNA test as well but it would be great if they could actually link us to family.

    • @heritage.home.crochet
      @heritage.home.crochet 7 лет назад +14

      T. Elisia I feel ya, but hey, who knows where your search will take you. You just have to start. I'm excited to learn about lost family and lands that were part of my family. The test was $88. It felt like I wasn't paying anything bc of how long I've been waiting to do this!! My fiance is Nigerian, what if I can be linked to his tribe? I will feel so honored to be adorned in the royal attire of the Benin tribe. It would make me feel closer to him and his family...soon to be mine! I'm so happy!

    Why did you refer to her as your uncle and auntie daughter instead of your cousin, is that an Africa thing?

    • @ChisomAdaora
      @ChisomAdaora 7 лет назад +64

      In the beginning of the video her parents explained they are family friends. Nigerians use auntie and uncle also as a title of respect to your elders even if they're not related by blood.

    • @judithessemiah4369
      @judithessemiah4369 7 лет назад +17

      not only Nigerians, I feel like the whole of west-Africa does that. But it also shows that family doesn't have to be by blood. If that person has known your family for a long time he is called uncle/auntie. it is indeed for a sign of respect but also for the fact that that person is a very good 'friend'. I'm talking from the Ghanaian perspective.

    • @rmandaza1
      @rmandaza1 7 лет назад +13

      i think all africans tbh I'm from down south and you wouldn't be caught dead calling anyone older than you by their first name :), other places do it too outside of african not ness auntie but a respectful term
