  • Ginny Buckley is Vienna, Austria for the launch of the 1997 model Chrysler Voyager, which albeit an American car, it is in fact built in Austria - as Peter Rawlinson explains. Ginny reviews the Voyage and all of it's unique features, she'll be testing it's performance and handling, as well as seeing how spacious and practical it is as a family car.

I had a 3.3 modle and did food delivery with it, it's nice and durable but all the harsh driving burned the trans fluid so I went ahead serviced it with a new filter. The 3.3 did get 16mpg city so it's definitely more suited for HWY driving

My family had a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with the 3.3L V6, and it ran for 10 years before finally conking out. Interestingly, the European versions of this van will become legal for U.S. Imports in 2022

Eu tenho uma Grand Caravan Chrysler 1998 desde zero. Nunca me deixou na māo. Mas tenho muito cuidado com minha mini van Chrysler. Tenho outro carro pro dia a dia. E ela só pra viagens com a familia e passeios. Tá muito nova nunca teve batida e muito silenciosa e confortavel.

I've never seen a manual of a van. Mine has a 3.8 and awd. it still gets 23+ mpg.

The US did get them all the way until 1995, but it was only available on base short wheelbase models by then. It was available across the range when the minivans were introduced in 1983 though.

It's been said that Chrysler *"invented"* the minivan. That's not true. Volkswagen did, with the 1950 Transporter (Bus). Chrysler merely *"re-invented"* it. :)

The Volkswagen Transporter is a BUS not a minivan :-p

TheRitab0809 I disagree. People called it the Bus, but it was as much a van as the Chrysler was.

+Jason Carpp Arguably DKW beat them to it in 1949 with the Schnellaster passenger version.
And unlike the VW it was a front engine, front wheel drive vehicle.

+Vie Ventar I've heard the name DKW, but I've never heard of the company.

Didn't sell much outside of Germany, Spain, Argentina and a few built in Finland.
Was an impressive design - though its small engine probably prevented any realistic attempt at US sales.

Oh and DKW went on to become Audi via a merger with Auto Union... ..and since VW now owns Audi I guess that means VW can rightfully claim they invented the front engine, front wheel drive van/people carrier?

The 1996-2000 Dodge Grand Caravan (Same as the Chrysler Voyager) got a marginal rating, dummy readings showed 2 broken legs.

Simpy not true, the 2.5 diesel engine was terrible, but if you try this with v6 engine and automatic transmission, realize it is a really good and smooth car.
