I am a history professor and have shared all my lectures with homeschoolers as a free resource, mainly b/c I have been so impressed with my students who were homeschooled Most of my material is better suited for older children, 13 and up, but anyone is welcomed to use them.
We love teaching textbooks! It's really a lifesaver for a mom with multiple kids! We have 5 kids 8 months to almost 14. We are using teaching textbooks 4/6/pre algebra. Can't recommend it enough if you're a mom who needs to take something off your plate.
Agree, my 4th and 11th grader, both enjoy teaching textbooks. We're a few months out of the public school system and so I'm thankful that math is figured out for both of them. ❤
I’m so excited to use treasure hunt reading with my reluctant readers!!! I had no idea this existed and let alone was free!!! Thank you so much for showing this!!!
I’m looking into and considering homeschool starting next year. Thank you for sharing all of this!! I feel better now knowing where to look for everything. I only have one child-a 3rd grader, so I think it’ll be easy to pick something and roll with it ❤❤
We use MODG grade history that the kids read on theor own. Its mostly novels with a spine book (textbook). But we love TAN books story of civilization audiobooks. They are amazing. I recommend them even if youre not homeschooling. They are greaat to listen in the car. They are available on audible too. You are doing such a great job !!😊
We’re using America the Beautiful from Notgrass for history and we absolutely love it!! I cannot recommend it enough, it’s our favorite subject to complete everyday.
So glad I came across your channel during this journey! The good and the beautiful has been a god send. I find that as a mama with an infant and a toddler, this is the best curriculum to start with! My oldest is in Kindergarten this year. I’m excited to see her learning progress! Ty for this content Tabitha! ~ Chelsea
For History, a good place to start would be Story of Civilization from TAN Books. It has a narrative feel as well and activity books to go along with the reading. We have enjoyed it in our homeschool. 😊
There are a lot of great resources through TAN they have a video series for each of their story of civilization themes. Plus they recently started adding very beautiful science video series. A lot of times we watch them during lunch. And then we listen to story of civilization whenever we're driving around.
We just read Aesops Fables from Tan and the back of the book has what virtue and vice lesson for each fable that I love. I think you can listen to an audio version of history from Tan but haven't tried it yet. Love Baltimore catechism and religious books from Catholic Heritage curriculum too.
I really enjoyed this video. We use Seton for most subjects, and Teaching Textbooks for math. I would also like to hear about how you manage homemaking and teaching multiple children. I need to improve on my time management.. or hire a housekeeper!😆
I switched to The Good ans The Beautiful when I saw you mention it a while ago and my son loves it! I also got the handwriting doodles for my 3 year old and he loves getting to do school like his big brother.
Love the reading recommendations! We started with the Dick and Jane books when we first switched to homeschooling before I'd even ordered any curriculum because I found a pack of them for a great price at a thrift shop and I'm so glad we did! Now my 6 year old is reading paragraphs with relative ease and I'm looking for slightly more advanced material. I remember loving the Magic Treehouse books at her age so it's good seeing Christian alternatives.
I'm in my 70s and learn to read through. The Dick and Jane series, which is not a fanatic series, it's all by sight. I'm a retired public school teacher and I only teach thru phonics except for words that can not be sound out which are known as sight words. Looking back at how I was sought to read. It's a miracle because I didn't learn anything about sounding outwards until I became an adult and start teaching reading myself. Over the years, I have probably taught hundreds of children to read. Especially those from Mexico as I was a bilingual public school teacher. I home schooled my daughter and her cousins for 7 years. Anloose the school of tomorrow. Accelerated Christian at curriculum for the most part. Presently, I am working 121 with all of my sisters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them the basics of reading and math. Presently i'm working with a four year old before he enters the public school system. The reading program that I use is called reading mastery which is. Known as the d I s t a r program useding the public schools for at risk children over the last sixty years. They have a home school program. Name, teach your child to read in a 100 easy lessons. I have a variety of over twenty five different manipulatives to teach basic mask skills before a child enters school. To all the manipulations that I recommend are the unifix cubes and the cuisnaire rods.
We do Our Lady of Fatima correspondence as well and LOVE it! It is the best!! Our daughter also just had her Priest interview on the yellow book and confirms in October. 🕊️🔥 We used TGTB up until last year and switched over to Our Lady of Victory for the Traditional Catholicism of it and so far it’s absolutely beautiful.
We left TGTB for Master Books because my daughter got sick of the review and too distracted by all the "accessories." We had to change levels on some subjects but traveling while homeschooling is so much easier now!
The reading lesson book looks so effective yet simple, I'm going to get a copy. Thanks for sharing your curriculum, Tabitha. Have been a fellow homeschooler going 9n 6 years now. ❤
I really like the Catholic Textbook Project for history, they start around 4th grade but can be scaled up and down of course. I found what looks to be a really awesome and free whole family catechism video course from Our Lady of The Rosary, so far my kids love it and are really moved by it.
So glad this video was recommended to me! Love the multi-age curricula and the catholic picks. Thank you! Please continue to share homeschool recommendations. 🙏
I agree with the disclaimer!! I highly encourage you to take the risk and homeschool. your children. my husband wanted it more than me but he encouraged me and didn't expect much and over the years we have found what we enjoy. we also have five kids. for the younger ones, we do mcguffy primer and math fact memorization, for the older kids: Saxon math, the Robinson curriculum reading list, and a mix of abeka and Charlotte mason books for language, history and science. I have also really been loving the monthly readings/resources from the well educated heart. what helped me get organized is having a binder for each child for record keeping with tabs for each subject, and then I have a planner where I get to write down daily work that each child does and our daily group work (read aloud, memory verses, bible reading and mcguffy reading) thank you for sharing tabitha! I will look into that math u see and good and beautiful math for next year for my 5 year old.
That is what we do start letter sounds first. Then we do "learn how to read in 100 easy lessons" and I used explode the code for my now 12 year old.. we are also reading Little House in the Big Woods right now😊 we read books for all other learning.. The Torah and bible Reading...and we actually found a historical book on the Bible that goes deeper and talks about the.culture during that time...ECT..
Ooooh you do Tuttle twins!!! I’m kid is in 3rd/going to 4th and really struggling to grasp this. We’re pausing to do History Quest ancient times and hoping to return.
Thanks for sharing!!! We use Mother of Divine Grace with enrollment. Which gives us the option of online class enrollment. We love their online classes for music/art and Latin. We use Seton for spelling and Teaching Textbooks for math
Thank you that was very helpful and interesting to see Can you also share your homeschool schedule/routine? I always have a hard time adding art to our schedule- while many kids are naturally interested. But my son is not so but enjoys it when I add it in.
We have a few (older levels) of the Memoria Press Latin. I wasn't super in love. Its pretty dry and the kids were thrown by the teachers southern accent. Once we joined Aquinas Learning Homeschool curriculum we feel confident in the Latin they get there. Preschool years use Classical Academic Press Song School Latin. What is fun about it is that there are games and videos online, coloring pages, flashcards, etc. Elementary school is exposing them to root words, sentences and prayers. Then Middles school is when they begin full Latin . We have both Bibles too. I forgot about the CAtholic one as my 13 year old son keeps it in his altar in his room. The Picture Bible is great for doing the Jesse Tree during Advent as its almost exactly story for story!
We’ve done Memoria Press for Latin for years. Latina Christiana is good, but I recommend starting with Prima Latina and then going on to Latina Christiana.
I wanted to tell you Notgrass history is amazing and covers several grades. Also, Masterbooks science is pretty good too. We are currently using teaching textbooks for my child in 4th grade and we love it. We've been using masterbooks for younger math grades. My kids HATE TGTB math. But we use TGTB for Lang arts and co-op science.
We were using Saxon math for years. It was great and they could do the work so well on paper. But I noticed that in real life they were having a hard time using math in daily life. So when they got bored with Saxon I changed to the good and the beautiful. I wasn’t too sure at first because it seemed really simple. But now they use math easily in real life and they will even say “we learned this in math!” I am really happy with how they can apply it. I’m not a huge fan of just knowing it on paper, I want them to be able to apply it.
I agree! I do like the good and the beautiful math because they do a wonderful job applying it to real life. Some of the concepts are just introduced so sparingly and then expected to be understood the next time it’s brought up. We’re having fun for now doing both
We do Good and Beautiful L.A. and both those Science programs forlittle hearts and hands.. we ALSO Do Math U See and I was considering to switch to Teaching Textbooks and adding Night Zookeeper! My preschooler is also doing Developing the Early Learner. also have tuttle twins on my wants list for this year. Im shocked because I never come across someone who does all of the same cirriculums as me. I have been teaching for 10 years too. My oldest is 12. I am teaching preschool, 3rd, 6th and 7th and it has been a awesome year so far. I am loving all of my choices. ❤ and yours too 😄
I love this video! Thank you for sharing. I need to invest in Christian-based novels. My only child is an 8-year-old son. He goes to a public school. My household is religious. My husband and I succeeded in getting our son to read the comic version of the bible. He would like those books. Our son is normally on the honor roll. He didn't get it last year "mostly because we had a traumatic event happen in our household". But, I work with him with phonic books at home to help him. Fingers crossed he gets honor roll this year.
I mentioned in a previous Post that I grew up on dick and jane Which is nothing more than a site word program. The books are reprinted INR available. But not so much as a program. Just as another primer for a child to read. I don't believe that the Dick and chain series is a reading program. As much as home school, parents use it to supplement whatever reading program they have chosen for their child. Looking back. I have been involved in education now for over 40 years. 3 years in Christian schools, 20 years in public schools, 7 years of home schooling and the last 7 years. I've been tooting 1 to 1 children in our family to prepare them to enter the public school system. I have taught hundreds of children to read using the d I s t a r program which is known as Reading mastery in the home school version is teach your child to read and a hundred easy lessons.
Have you ever checked out Catholic Heritage Curriculum? We primarily you that as well as some Seton books, Seton has the most beautiful classic Catholic pictures.
I really want to homeschool but I'm SO overwhelmed. I think it could be really fun and good for my kids but there are so many different curriculums and they can be so pricey 😭
Hi Tabitha! I'm a fellow homeschool mama of a 5yr old and 4yr old. We are using Explode the Code for the first time for my Kindergartener and I'm curious to see if you think it is sufficient on its own for language arts at that age or does it need something else? Also, what age do you typically aim to have your kids reading by? Thanks so much!
Hey! We did Explode the Code for Kindergarten as well and I definitely don't think it was enough for phonics by itself but I do think it's great independent practice to reinforce a more in depth phonics program. We ended up taking about a month in the summer after her 6th birthday and did a combination of The Reading Lesson and Learning to Read in 100 Easy Lessons for about an hour a day. Then she was able to enter The Good and the Beautiful Level 1 Language Arts. However, you could also just go into a level 1 program for language arts that incorporates learning to read, like Master Books or CLE.
We are reading the dead squirrels books as our read aloud they are so funny! I have to check out the hidden scrolls books. My son likes the magic tree house books.
PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm trying to find an English/Language Arts curriculum with a DVD. Do you know of any? I just ordered the Math U See. I'm so thankful you shared this video.
Wow that’s is. Very fascinating my. Boys went to a private school they have i pads and white boards excursions and virtual reality for science here in perth private school is the way to good and better. Teachers and it’s the structure that I love mine went to Lutheran school small but fantastic
I went to a private Christian school when I was in first and second grade, and we read the Abeka books. It’s funny I’ve never heard them pronounced A Beka it was always pronounced Uh Beka when I heard it 😆 I even have a few of them left ☺️
A fun way to teach American his 3 is. It is by using the Rush River series of 5 books written by Rush limbaugh. I went through this series a few years ago with My great brightness when she was in fourth grade during the COVID crisis.. It starts with the pilgrims to go all the way The revolutionary war in the making of the constitution. It's a fun way to teach history through historical fiction. To supplement it I went to the teacher pay teacher program and Purchase for each of the book about a 100 pages of. Activities For each of the bookchapters. It Not only enhanced the comprehension of reading the book but also vocabulary. This is rather inexpensive. As each teacher pay teacher program was about a $10 purchase. And can be used over and over again and the books itself. I bought through the thrift store at a very reasonable price. You probably could get two sets of books and purchase all five programs for less than a hundred dollars. You don't give any price on any of your corkulum but it looks like it could add up.
I’m looking to implement the catechism you mentioned and was wondering if you have to “start” it at a certain timeframe during the year. The USA page is currently down but I’ve looked at in the past and it seemed like you could join at any point? Do you think that’s true? Would love any extra info!! ❤
I love your videos love everything that you have for your homeschool i was homeschooled til about 8❤ I have a question, (anyone can answer) my 2.5 yr old loves to read, she can recognize a lot of sight words, can count to 30, can name something for every letter has a sharp memory and loves to learn and is super high energy. My question is she gets bored so easily and gravitates towards learning but I don’t want to feel like I’m pushing her to hard but she needs lots to do. What are some age appropriate things I could do for a child like that?
I think if it were me, given what I know now, I’d just read together, have things available and let her take the lead, maybe get a little workbook if she’s super interested but only do lessons upon request. I loved The Good and the Beautiful handwriting books for keeping my youngest busy when he wanted to “do school” with his older siblings. But that’s what I’d do, and you know your child/family best, obviously! ❤
Do you rebuy every curriculum for each kid ? I have one in preschool and one in kindergarten.. just wondered if that is what everyone else does. Thought about laminating the pages and using dry erase markers
Thank for you for sharing Tabitha! Just wanted to add The Good and the Beautiful isn’t actually Christian. Jenny Phillips is a mormon. I remember reading she was from the LDS church in her profile (which I guess it’s been taken down now). We used her preschool curriculum but after finding out it was written by a mormon we didn’t want to support that.
I understand many people feel this way and are strong in that conviction. I personally support and appreciate TGATB. IMO it is absolutely Christian based. They have staff/writers/contributors from many different Christian faiths and there is no Mormon-specific doctrine anywhere in the curricula. (Mormons also consider themselves Christians, but I know many people disagree.) ❤️🙏
Yes I agree. Much false doctrine can be slipped into our children's education by parents being too passive. Mormons are considered Christian but their beliefs do not align with the literal Word of God. I have used one TGATB course with my children after carefully reviewing it. I personally would not use that curriculum as the backbone of my kids' education, though. I see many parents choosing curricula based on how easy it is on the parent, the illustrations, etc. when my conviction is that we should be making choices based on the content and quality of the material. If I wanted to be hands off with my kids' education then I would send them to a school.
Mormons do not believe in the Trinity which is one of the foundations of the Christian Faith. They also believe in the book of mormon while the Bible is the unique inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). Mormons might believe they are Christians but they really aren’t.
@@beckyjones619I agree sadly after all the cult stuff & 8 passengers stuff has come out I stir away from anything Mormon. I don’t want to mislead my children. I want to make sure something is truly Christian. The Mormons views are a little distorted sometimes
In my opinion, no. They offer so much of their curriculum for free though so it doesn’t surprise me that they don’t/can’t offer a lot of other discounts. They are really affordable though, also my opinion lol check them out, they have a lot of awesome stuff!
I agree with Ashley. Since we started using it I’ve only seen one major sale happen. They did a promotion where they sent coupons in your orders too. But yes! A lot of their stuff is free and it’s priced very reasonable as it is.
Why do you send your child to a private school? Is it a Catholic school? I see that your curriculum is quite extensive? But I think it might become quite expensive. How much are items, and do you have to replenish them every year?
@@suzannesahl1699 my oldest daughter is from a previous relationship and her father and I decided she would be done with homeschool after 5th grade and would start school in 6th grade. I’m not sure on the cost of our curriculum. I didn’t buy it all at once
I am a history professor and have shared all my lectures with homeschoolers as a free resource, mainly b/c I have been so impressed with my students who were homeschooled Most of my material is better suited for older children, 13 and up, but anyone is welcomed to use them.

I really want to homeschool but I'm SO overwhelmed. I think it could be really fun and good for my kids but there are so many different curriculums and they can be so pricey 😭
We love Gather Round history! Their government unit is great too
We LOVE The good and the beautiful too!! ❤❤
We love the tuttle twins!
Yessss I love watching that with my 2.5 yr old & my 8 month old❤
We love the Good and the Beautiful!
More homeschool videos please!
Please share your RUclips channels you use for learning to draw and sketch! My daughter would love that!
We are reading the dead squirrels books as our read aloud they are so funny! I have to check out the hidden scrolls books. My son likes the magic tree house books.
I think you will love it!
The Story of Civilization is our next move after the same tuttle twins history books! It is Catholic and very well done!
I’ve been looking at that! Christ the King Lord of History is also Catholic
Send all the books by post please by tomorrow
Definitely start whenever!
Love this ❤❤❤
I love your videos love everything that you have for your homeschool i was homeschooled til about 8❤ I have a question, (anyone can answer) my 2.5 yr old loves to read, she can recognize a lot of sight words, can count to 30, can name something for every letter has a sharp memory and loves to learn and is super high energy. My question is she gets bored so easily and gravitates towards learning but I don’t want to feel like I’m pushing her to hard but she needs lots to do. What are some age appropriate things I could do for a child like that?
I saw your preschool books I might get some of those 😊
I think if it were me, given what I know now, I’d just read together, have things available and let her take the lead, maybe get a little workbook if she’s super interested but only do lessons upon request. I loved The Good and the Beautiful handwriting books for keeping my youngest busy when he wanted to “do school” with his older siblings. But that’s what I’d do, and you know your child/family best, obviously! ❤
I'm surprised you don't do aces paces 😊
Too bad no curriculum videos this year 😢
Do you rebuy every curriculum for each kid ? I have one in preschool and one in kindergarten.. just wondered if that is what everyone else does. Thought about laminating the pages and using dry erase markers
It depends. I’ve photo copied some before but most I rebuy.
I want to buy some curriculum for me and teach myself stuff and learn with my kids 😊
Can you share some of the RUclips drawing tutorial videos?
Do you find that the Night Zookeeper to be geared more towards the younger kids or do you think it's still great for the 10-12 age?
I think it’s perfect for 10-12!
Can you share the RUclips link where your kids watch sketching tutorials? I really like this idea for my son (8th grade.)
Art for Kids Hub is a favorite!
Thank you!!@@ThisMamasHouse
We love Beautiful Feet history!
Mormons are a Christian denomination. TGATB have many denominations, including Catholics, writing the curriculum.
Beautiful feet books for history.
Can you list youtube art channels?
I want to home school my 11 year old but I do not have a teaching degree or anything like that? Do you have a teaching background to homeschool??
It depends on what state you live in.
💚
Do The good and the beautiful often have promotions?
In my opinion, no. They offer so much of their curriculum for free though so it doesn’t surprise me that they don’t/can’t offer a lot of other discounts. They are really affordable though, also my opinion lol check them out, they have a lot of awesome stuff!
I agree with Ashley. Since we started using it I’ve only seen one major sale happen. They did a promotion where they sent coupons in your orders too. But yes! A lot of their stuff is free and it’s priced very reasonable as it is.
Do you not homeschool one of your kids? I was confused 😂
My oldest daughter goes to private school
Then one is a baby 🤣
Why do you send your child to a private school? Is it a Catholic school? I see that your curriculum is quite extensive? But I think it might become quite expensive. How much are items, and do you have to replenish them every year?
@@suzannesahl1699 my oldest daughter is from a previous relationship and her father and I decided she would be done with homeschool after 5th grade and would start school in 6th grade. I’m not sure on the cost of our curriculum. I didn’t buy it all at once
