They aren't the same boat because the common denominator is "the stuff"; if stuff is there, the creator wants it to be there, and so it is far more likely that it's there for a purpose as opposed to it's there for shits and giggles. The natural assumption is that anything in a story that has obvious connotations for the future of said story is there for a reason, and to say it isn't you have to provide evidence or reasoning to the contrary.
This is like saying Gojo's line where he states Yuji will inherit Sukuna's CT isn't going anywhere and was just put there for fun.

personally i like the theory that the cast are actually digitized copies of the irl humans ( like the game soma) and that the original humans are still out in the physical world.
I don't but only cuz I read into Kinger's "Insect Collection" being their preserved bodies, which also helps my theory that Cain wants to escape into the real world in one of their bodies. and it also explains why Kinger is an "expert on the digital world" as Jax said when he's coherent at the end.

I feel like the parallels between ‘Amazing Digital Circus’ and ‘I Have No Mouth but I Must Scream’ by Harlan Ellison are very compelling, but few of the theory videos I’ve seen lately go that far in depth (if they even cover it at all)

@@flying-magpie Caine at least is described as what the AI from "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" would be like if he was a "whacky and zaney little guy" instead of a genocidal evil AI that hates all humanity. Tying into the end of the book and neatly into MatPat's theory here, at the end the person who becomes the blob with no mouth does indeed wind up helping save everyone...by killing them as they all realize the only way to escape the hell that the evil computer has created for them is to kill themselves as while it can modify them (and has done so already to twist who and what they are and their personalities), it CANNOT bring them back to life if they die outside of a place under it's control. By the end the computer is able to stop the last human alive from killing himself and turns him into a blob with no mouth or tongue so he can't hurt or kill himself in any way...his only solace is that he's the only human left to suffer forever and no one else will be forced to suffer by the evil computer.
From what i remember on a video mat made about how me produces his videos, he has 4 editors and i think 3 script writers, and the whole team comes together beforehand to discuss the theory itself before getting to work.

I can totally see the Last Supper comparison. The raggedy Ann character is kind of in the position of Judas too, who could make for a good “traitor”. Aside from head tables at weddings or large events, seeing people sit on one side of a table is pretty damn rare, don’t know what Nux is smoking there.
It's cause he's a sarcastic and trolly person. It's why I unsubscribed and only watch him in short bursts nowadays...there's a limit to how much of that shit I can tolerate at once and on certain days that shit grinds on my last dang nerve.

If I had to guess… on a few things actually, Pomni’s real name is most likely Jessie or Jessica. Pomni means “remember” in Russian, which could imply, “remember who you are,” or something along those lines. All the other humans’ names could imply they are religious sinners. To name a few:
Ragatha could be Magdelene, Jesus’ friend.
If Jax is so evil and unheroic and deserving of a terrible fate, he would most likely represent Judas.
Gangle could be Isaac, a crybaby.
If the “Cain and Abel” similarity actually turns out to be true, it could be that C&A is a family company, and a major software developer or concept artist or whatever who originally created Caine left Caine’s development in the hands of his son. Eventually the son overworked himself or something, being killed by his own work. In a sense, Caine killed his brother. Potentially.
Just because people like you, Nux, make certain comments and have certain theories of your own, however accurate or inaccurate, that, when you react to theory videos like MatPat's, looks at first glance like copying homework or stating the obvious doesn't necessarily mean that people like MatPat watch your content or that their channels' demographics are the same as or similar to yours. You could both reach similar conclusions independently.

They're just more credible hypothesis, they can be disproven, they aren't fact or law, but they are still solid enough for us to understand how something works even if not in its fullest such as theory of gravity or the black hole theory. Now we do know Link DOES die, the Hero of Time one specifically as he becomes the heroes' shade... but then that also disproves he dies in Majora, as he's clearly an adult when he did die, but he's still a child in Majoras Mask. Yet it's still fun, and technically not wrong either, as that's what leads to some timelines branching from Ocarina of Time, of which Majoras Mask is the sequel of.
If Link fails and/or dies, Ganondorf/Ganon wins, and leads to the fallen hero timeline, containing games like Zelda 1, 2, Link Between Worlds, Link to the Past, Oracle games etc. So it's also not impossible that Link can die die in Majoras Mask. Thus you create a what if scenario, boom theory video, whether it comes to fruition and rings true is up to future games in said franchise and the creators. Some of his theories have been 100% on point, and even approved by some creators as being the actual truth and lore of their games, I remember a few times where Scott Cawthon (FNAF creator) said he got super close on many of his theories to FNAF's lore, if not spot on. It's not Game Law or Game Fact, it's called Game Theory for a reason.

What I always thought about Cain was that he reminds me of when you're playing a 3D video game and you accidentally put the camera angle in a weird place, and you end up getting a good look at the inside of your character's skull, which is often hollow, with a set of jaws. Mostly because this is the DIGITAL circus, and Cain is literally eyeballs inside a set of jaws. Not really as much a theory, but I guess it can be applied to MatPat's existing theory, as long as we're just throwing darts until something sticks on the evidence board.

I still prefer my theory about Caine and who Abel is in the show:
There's a character we see but don't get introduced to: the mannequin on the door in the hallway Pomni amd Ragatha walk-through, wee see again when Pomni is opening random doors and he's bathing.
The mannequin is Able: Cain is an exaggerated character the a top hat, suit and tie, with no "head" or "face" but has eyes and a mouth. Completely suited up with shoes and gloves to boot leads me to believe that he has no body. While the mannequin has a body but no features or clothing of any kind, even when he had his "jumpscare" in the bathroom, the red mask/face had no eyes or teeth. The complete opposite of Cain.
I mean, there are multiple doors in that scene with the mannequin, and when Caine is in the diner, there are like ten of the mannequins. They seem to just be placeholder NPCs or something.

It's far more likely they are just placeholders and Caine is able to use them how he wants for shits and giggles and he found hiding one behind a door bathing to be funny. I wager that whole thing with the doors was a shoutout to the same kind of skit from Courage the Cowardly Dog who had similar things happen to him in a few episodes when he would open doors one after another.

Nobody gets punished in Purgatory, from there you’re either rewarded with heaven or punished IN hell. For it to be Purgatory literally no danger would befall them, sorry Nux but you’re actually wrong about that one.
(sorry to have to do this, but) um akshually, purgatory does actually have some form of "punishment" through purification, though the kind isn't specifically stated except that there is some form of pain experienced in purgatory. Additionally, being in purgatory is purification in order to be able to enter heaven, rather than some waiting room whilst your place in the afterlife is being decided

Lastly, you're the only one referencing Purgatory as a waiting room; whereas, I referenced it as an isolated space apart from heaven and hell. If you'll recall, I never once used the words "waiting" or "room" but I DID say you cannot be punished there (which you can't, because that LITERALLY requires receiving judgment first). If we're gonna be technical about this, Purgatory is arguably summed up as a holy decontamination chamber for souls before moving forward with their fate.

What if digital circus and helluva boss are in the same universe, one is hell while the other is purgatory like your saying, I know it’s a a stretch but with the creators connection with both, how crazy would it be to reveal that both these big series work hand in hand, but that’s just a theory, a GAME THEORY
You could take this even further where some of the characters from helluva boss could’ve originally been apart of the digital circus that became even more corrupted and fell a level lower

Matpat has said before that he doesn't specifically believe every single theory he makes a video on. There's certainly plenty he does but given the channels have their own dedicated teams to work on them, he's just not able to do it all himself. So others make/research these theories and consult with Matpat himself about it rather than him being the main one making them

My theory (buckle up):
The Digital Circus is an online reality gameshow VR computer game that is similar to Tell Tale games in that the game is also essentially a show. Pomni and the group are contestants (similar to the show "the hollow") who volunteered for the show.
So each next part of the show is an episode, just like the walking dead or that werewolf game.
The game has an emphasis on "immersion", so in order to maximize the sense of being part of that world, it has to wipe certain memories like who you are and your past, but since going further than that risks frying your sense of self, you are able to remember the head set. The game also needs you to retain your personality, and notions like fear or things you enjoy, because otherwise your mind would fight against the fake personality it assigns you. The game is peppy in an effort to keep contestants cheery so that they don't abstract due to the gnawing existential despair.
The headset process isn't exactly comforting, hence why Pomni was trying to escape and tear the headset off, because the last thing she remembers putting it on and not feeling ok, then BAM, circus. My notion for it being voluntary is based on her saying "I put on a headset", and not "I was put in a headset".
Now, I think that the reason Pomni got stuck partly because Caine didn't design the other side, but I also think that because it's a game, she essentially got caught in an if/while loop. Perhaps there is something on the otherside but as per game rules, it isnt accessible until later in the game after certain conditions have been met, or a certain item/location has been found.
I think the void is just a representation of the code and any libraries needed to run the game. So when Pomni was staring into the void, she was begining to see the game code and if left alone, would have the game story and ending spoiled to her, breaking immersion.
Now being that it's both a reality show and a game show, there are multiple endings already coded for the game, but in a tell tale fashion, your choices affect the ending, and being a reality show means they could also have non coded endings due to their choices.
Now, I have a notion that Caine is the NPC that represents the real human Caine, the blue error eyes suggests to me that he is certainly just a program, likely high functioning AI, unless its like "The Hollow" and he is actually PC and thats just something he can do.
Caine says he hasn't created an exit, but that could just be a programmed thought of the NPC. Caine ( the human) may not have intended for there to be anything on that other side, perhaps to make the show interesting as it pushes players towards abstraction.
However, if it is the case that the Programmer truly hadn't finished the other side, then that implies the game truly has no exit, because whatever Caine puts on the other side, it would still be part of the game; or at the very least, there is a different exit condition, and whatever is put on the other side is just a game location that they have to unlock/ get to later in the game in order to leave. I do think this less unlikely than the intended loop though the two aren't mutually exclusive, and both being the case is more likely than either on their own.
The issue I have here is with abstraction, I don't think the game show would really allow people to be dying but they very well could, as we see the abstractions are tossed into a cellar, so presumably the minds are still in game. However the building Pomni is in, leads me to believe that the loop is modeled after the building where players are brought into the game, likely a huge office building, perfect for backroom style loops anyways, so they could be keeping those people alive. Or the abstractions could be MOBS that take over and eject the player from the game, meaning there is no risk to the player outside (which, so long as we aren't told this info until the end, it won't affect the story). Though, its also likely they are simply ejected from the game and replaced with a Mob.
Perhaps the players have to find Abel somewhere on the grounds of the digital Circus, and he will be able to bring back everyone Caine has killed through abstraction.
Maybe there is some game lore that does have heavy tie in with religion, but Ill save my thoughts on that.
*Edit* With Jax deserving to be there, I think the hell and purgatory notions are unlikely because gangle, kinger, and ragatha would have had to have done something that warrants them being there, even if its slight, but how slight are we really going to accept? A lie? No. Alternatively, being a test works, but for what end?*
Perhaps it is a competition to see who will become the next head of C&A, and Pomni is a creator and daughter of Caine (whole jesus thing). So maybe Jax deserves to be there the most because he was the favored choice as the next head of the company.

All this together ruined the company causing it to go bankrupt leading it to shut down and maybe JUST maybe their boss was able to have his most loyal or few employees who help made the game be in" The Amazing Digital Circus" to be in a world they all created together to be happy FOREVER, But that's just a theory MINE THEORY if anyone take I'll sue you.

Matpat has theories which are plausible, theories which he says are just for fun and then the truly infuriating theories where he is confidently incorrect on one or more of the points he puts forth... the coffee and the enlightenment one is particularly infuriating...
MatPat's theory about Pomni being the creator or employee of the company that created the VR game falls apart real quick when you remember her initial words about how she ended up there. She mentioned putting on a "weird headset" and ending up there. If she were the creator or someone who worked on VR/VR games then she'd have said something that sounds more knowledgeable. Such as, "I was testing a headset when I ended up here" or something along those lines. Instead, her answer hints at her having no idea at what's going on. She may not have even known what VR was before putting on the headset. Sure her memories regarding the situation in which she put on the headset could have simply been scrambled just like her memories of her name but somehow I get the feeling that's not the case. I just find the theory rather flimsy. Even the "evidence" of her finally having a mental break when seeing the computer with the headset is rather weak since that could have happened for any number of reasons. Hells, Matpat acts like the backroomsesque office maze area is proof that she works there when really it could just be extra assets, an attempt to bridge the physical and digital, or a testing area for devs that happens to be modelled after their office (but, again, has no proof of being connected to Pomni). I know he says it's just a fun theory for theory sake but it's a REALLY weak one xD
