I love the pit Edit: as many people have said don't do the roof of the mob farm out of slabs i have never done out of slabs and it always worked but it could be really some setting of the world cus like u said it's strange that no mobs spawn.
The Mob Farm has an easy fix. Because Slabs are transparent, you need another layer of solid blocks below them. I am genuinely amazed that NO ONE thought of that.
So The Pitt was awesome, but I was a little frustrated that the main gimmick of this challenge was that there were lucky blocks, and after the first 5 hours or so, they only open like half a dozen lucky blocks, even though you can pretty easily get villagers from it, and every time the well spawns in, no matter what the result of the well is (tnt, diamonds or food) it always comes with 9 blocks of iron that can be mined before you even trigger the well.
sorry about some of the subtitles being incorrect, i was running very behind on this video and almost didn’t upload it on time, future videos will be better!
Hey Skyes just to let you know as of the 1.13 update slabs became waterlogable wich made it so instead of blocking light like they use to they now let light leak through so for your mob spawners you need to have the roof be a full block and then you can put the slabs on top.
@vgusiradoz2 I maybe wrong on the version but all I know is sometime after 1.12.2 slabs let in light. There is a mod that allows you to press F7 and see where mobs can spawn and where they might spawn and where they can't. You will see that despite the area having no light source and has a roof with walls you will see that slabs let in light.
The reason an iron golem didn't spawn in towards the end is because your setup at the end actually have worked regardless. To spawn an iron golem you need to have a "village" and a hostile mob. For an area to count as a village that spawns iron golems it needs to have at least three or four beds and three villagers. Then you had the hostile mob. Hope this helps. P.S.: you can also make a bell and ring it to make the villagers in a village panic and that will also make a golem spawn.
If I had a nickel for everytime Skyes built a mob farm with a slab roof that technically lets light through, i'd have enough money to purchase, like, a candy bar

I would’ve avoided that block like the plague if mining it could insta-kill me after spending hours on a server. Honestly, the name of this one should be "I survived 50 hours in the nether" :D For fixes: 1. Check if the biome in the overworld isn't set as void - no mobs pasive/agressive will spawn in the void (as phantoms were spawning I don't think the biome is the problem) 2. For witch to throw potion of weakness you must stand in max. 3 block radius while dealing damage - you were moving a lot trying to avoid other potions so that's probably why it took you so long (don't think you need this in this world, but maybe in the future challenges) 3. Try to actually break the lucky block as this was suppose to be the challenge, I wonder how much time you were wasting in the nether trying to get gold/iron and working with stone tools, you could get plenty of resources from breaking it. You could even use obsidian to build a protecting wall around the lucky block to lessen the chance of platform blowinig up. Also I love this challenges and can't wait for what's next, but I miss your hardcore world also :)
Hey there just to tell you in most one block worlds putting it to void is still going to spawn mobs just differently than in normal worlds since they spawn 16-32 blocks away (horizontal and vertical both works) from the player as far as I have experienced it.

Especially because it is so understandable why you would need to go ahead and "cheat" to get the mods you need. It is refreshing, thank you for the honest, quality, funny, entertainment. luuuuuv the pit Skyes!! I have just read a comment sating that would love a 100hours version of this challenge and I super agree, I would just say for you to focus more on the luckyblock itself, we saw so little of it during the 50 hours, would be lovely to see more!!
From the beginning, I was wondering why you didn’t surround the lucky block with waterlogged slabs. You had enough water buckets to make an infinite water source. Also, why not make the cobble hen from the beginning like you could have? Five-ten minutes of cobble collecting while the trees grew would have been enough. If the mod you downloaded was like ore excavation, you could have created a large cobble gen and just vein mined it all. Less than a minute, five stacks of cobble with the right design. More building materials for the base AND the nether. Just some simple thoughts. The new versions of Minecraft really beg to be abused.
37:48 I can tell you the issue. Slabs still let light in. Yes, it's very stupid. But, you can use a block THEN a slab. An easy way to tell is putting a block over a a dayburning mob. Do they burn? Transparent, let light through.
The second lucky block gave you well enough materials and buckets to make a cobble generator, long before you got the portal lit so you could enter the nether. So why did you build a bridge and later on a platform out of wood in the nether? In hell itself? Its one of the basics of Minecraft, same as "don't dig straight down" rule you know. xD
You are seriously one of my favorite Minecraft RUclipsrs because of these longer videos! I usually watch them on in the background while working and I get excited every time I see another one posted!
Oh yes, the nether simulator. Edit: Do not fear the lucky block. It holds many destinies. I can not guarantee what your destiny will be but I can guarantee it will be yours to experience.
whos gunna tell him light leaks through slabs? this is the third video ive seen of him making this mistake and i hurts me to see. im also abscessed with how good his shaders are
Welcome to Skyes not being smart. 1. Didn't make a cobble gen 2. Had a lot of diamonds but didn't make armor. 3. Used very little wood to light the portal. 4. Using witches instead of weakness potions 5. Witches only give weakness from 3 blocks away and it is 1 in 4 I love the content still
I feel like he doesn't know the game that well. I see very common mistakes in his videos that makes it difficult to watch. If you're going to be a minecraft youtuber, you should know the game.
@@stankatbarrell9878 idk i think its fun. the more he plays the more he learns. watching multiple videos, each spanning multiple hours, of someone who knows EVERYTHING about one thing, and makes no mistakes whatsoever, would be kind of boring. also you dont have to know every damn tiny nitty gritty thing about minecraft to be a mc ytber.
:D This is fun! i'm sure someone else has let you know, but for a iron golem to be spawned by the villagers, 3 villagers have to be closer together so they're considered a village. An individual villager can't spawn it in.
Roughly halfway through hour 1, here's a thought. Make a 5 x 5 Obsidian cage around the lucky block over time to make it safer? I think it sticks to 3 x 3 builds?
Not everytime. It spawns a huge lava floor, sometimes a cobblestone floor. I've seen some others, too. But Id' definitely make a lower platform to catch falling goods.
To fix the spawning issue, couldn't you of just copy and pasted your world into a brand new one (via worldedit schematics). This is because the only thing spawning in the lucky block is a single repeating command block. So it's very easy to keep that mechanic
Excellent content with amazing commentary as always. A wonderful experience from start to finish. No apologize necessary for Nether adventures. I just feel like the intended mechanic (the surprise lucky block) got pushed to the wayside and this turned into a regular skyblock movie with limited resources. It was great, I just think that the initial theme was forgotten in the wake of amazing Skyes builds and adventures.
OK so I’m certain you won’t read this but to like the portal block doesn’t have to be in the portal. It just has to be on the outside of opening if the inside gets lit wooden block it like a portal you just did it the hard way and that is fine.😅
If its a lucky block series actually use the lucky block this was a big waste of 3 hours for you to use the lucky block like 3 times , its risky but thats the fun part
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe how you light the nether portal with wood and lava is you need a wooden block directly behind the portal. You had on on the ground behind it, you just needed to move it up one block, so that way you're not waiting for the block to burn and disappear, but as soon as it lights the side, it'll hit the portal and activate it.
1:19:50 With zombie reinforcements, there are two things. 1. Lower their health just enough for them to call it 2. They are can only call reinforcements in specified areas
This should have been called one block lucky block but I stay in the nether. U could have gotten a lot of stuff from the lucky block u needed and also could have used that obsidian for the base of the lucky block for the death by tnt. Even tho u have a chance of being insta killed by the lucky block. But would have stayed with the actual title. Good video but what a bore when all I seen red. I love the pit but serious retry this and use the lucky block a lot more. Pls
i honestly like when Skyes explains what he is doing, it shows his thoughts and perspective. and its just nice to know whats going on :D 31:36 some of us do care please continue :)
i think you should check your coordinates once you spawn in the nether so you don't get lost it'll save you time from having to search for your portal again
You know, this is more a Skyblock one block challenge than a Lucky block challenge. What's the point of this if you don't even use the main mechanic of it? For example, the block can give ores and food yet you didn't even give that a try. It's irritating and boring. Seriously. What's the point of this if you don't use the namesake? And yes I know he said that he didn't want to because of the risk but that doesn't invalidate my point. Should've just made this a One Block. It's disappointing and quite frankly bordering on clickbait.
yeah honestly agree. i watched 100 days in a line before this and it was basically the exact same video. the quality of the video definitely isn't lacking, but i really wanted to see the lucky block challenge and not another nether grind
jesus dont complain. bro is out here making free content for you and youre getting pissy over semantics and accusing him of clickbait when its really overstating the issue.
Your world is created in a void world which I believe is the reason for the no spawning. Also in order for your "iron farm" to work you must have at least 3 villagers that either have beds or job blocks so that it is viewed as a village. Also when you remove a villager from the villager hut you need to break and place down the beds again. If beds are claimed the they won't produce new villagers as they don't see the claimed beds.
I'm dissatisfied, I mean what's the point of playing lucky block if youu don't mine it. It would have been a much moree fun content if youu did mine the lucky block alot more !
Fun fact! (Or not so fun in your case) chickens that spawn with a rider don’t actually lay eggs. It’s to keep the surrounding mobs from picking them up and never de-spawning. So you’r like REALLY lucky to have gotten that other chicken.
I hope you all enjoy this movie!

You are seriously one of my favorite Minecraft RUclipsrs because of these longer videos! I usually watch them on in the background while working and I get excited every time I see another one posted!
Absolutely loving the pit. Seemed like this world was high-key cursed! I'm hoping your next one is a little easier on you 😅
Oh yes, the nether simulator.
Edit: Do not fear the lucky block. It holds many destinies. I can not guarantee what your destiny will be but I can guarantee it will be yours to experience.
Six hundred comments and only two of them comment on the lack of lucky blocks in the lucky block video
Well, hello Yoda lol!! 😂😂😂
I love the pit, i also love the way you kindly dispose of the baby mobs 😂 you are now my new fav Minecraft RUclips 💗
the mental fortitude needed to spend 13 hours in the nether is absolutely insane
whos gunna tell him light leaks through slabs? this is the third video ive seen of him making this mistake and i hurts me to see. im also abscessed with how good his shaders are
who doesn't love the pit. Skyes has so much patience is amazing. love your content.🧡❤
Welcome to Skyes not being smart.
1. Didn't make a cobble gen
2. Had a lot of diamonds but didn't make armor.
3. Used very little wood to light the portal.
4. Using witches instead of weakness potions
5. Witches only give weakness from 3 blocks away and it is 1 in 4
I love the content still
I feel like he doesn't know the game that well.
Also he had pumpkins but no seeds for the chickens ?
6: Using ONLY SLABS for a mob spawner roof... 🤦
Loved the pit and I love how u inspire me give me my courage for everything and make me have enthusiasm I love you skyes❤
Your commentary is hilarious my dude.😂 please don't stop making content cause the movies are just too entertaining.
It has the multiple lucky block sandstone structure that goes more than 3x3 and the slime bouncy house as well
Not everytime. It spawns a huge lava floor, sometimes a cobblestone floor. I've seen some others, too. But Id' definitely make a lower platform to catch falling goods.
WOOOHOO!!! I am loving all these videos! Than you Skyes!
Me watching Skyes do the same thing over and over while trying to light the nether portal drove me insane.
i loved the pit
this vid is amazing, thanks for being such a nice yter, you're rlly helping me getting through all the days :)
To fix the spawning issue, couldn't you of just copy and pasted your world into a brand new one (via worldedit schematics). This is because the only thing spawning in the lucky block is a single repeating command block. So it's very easy to keep that mechanic
well well well what do we have here, another banger absolutely guaranteed.
Using that song in the beginning was the cherry on top of you being the best RUclipsr
You are the best Minecraft RUclips ever but I am still sad because I have left a cat at my old house
bro this guy is such a good and consistent youtuber keep up the quality vids man
Sykes is trying to get us all addicted so that we click even harder when he uploads in the future after uploading all the stored up content
slabs on top of the mob spawner hasn't worked since like 1.14 since they now let light through. How can you still be struggling with it?
OK so I’m certain you won’t read this but to like the portal block doesn’t have to be in the portal. It just has to be on the outside of opening if the inside gets lit wooden block it like a portal you just did it the hard way and that is fine.😅
Maybe someone should make a whole combination of Skyes freaking out in all his videos. That would be funny. 😅😂❤
Enjoyed it but since it is one block lucky block I would have preferred to see a little more lucky block action
1. Lower their health just enough for them to call it
2. They are can only call reinforcements in specified areas
"I love this bunker. I hope it never goes away."Sky's breaks the bunker as soon as he gets a diamond pickaxe
Pls
i honestly like when Skyes explains what he is doing, it shows his thoughts and perspective. and its just nice to know whats going on :D
31:36 some of us do care please continue :)
Keep thinking, why isn't he making a cobblestone generator? You have a bucket of lava and water. Surely that's all you need, right?
Btw, the pit was amazing! I loved it.
I Loved The Pit Skyes!
i think you should check your coordinates once you spawn in the nether so you don't get lost it'll save you time from having to search for your portal again
If you make a lucky block playthrough can you please mine the lucky block more than 15 times
If you do a part two can you mine the lucky block some more
Should've been named 50 hours trying Not to hit the lucky block.
"nothing bad can spawn here"
-- skyes, shortly after making a platform entirely out of TOP slabs
Slabs are a problem, another possible cause is that mobs dont spawn in the void biome
One block lucky block but I only break like 100 then rely on the nether for the rest of the play through
I know it's pisses me off he's not using them at all
You know, this is more a Skyblock one block challenge than a Lucky block challenge.
It's disappointing and quite frankly bordering on clickbait.
yeah honestly agree. i watched 100 days in a line before this and it was basically the exact same video. the quality of the video definitely isn't lacking, but i really wanted to see the lucky block challenge and not another nether grind
jesus dont complain. bro is out here making free content for you and youre getting pissy over semantics and accusing him of clickbait when its really overstating the issue.
first
You are indeed first
Ratio
Your world is created in a void world which I believe is the reason for the no spawning. Also in order for your "iron farm" to work you must have at least 3 villagers that either have beds or job blocks so that it is viewed as a village. Also when you remove a villager from the villager hut you need to break and place down the beds again. If beds are claimed the they won't produce new villagers as they don't see the claimed beds.
Psst- hey! You! I loved the pit.
1 like = 1 years of his age
Like merchant
I'm dissatisfied, I mean what's the point of playing lucky block if youu don't mine it. It would have been a much moree fun content if youu did mine the lucky block alot more !
i dont know if you know this now but you can mine a beacon with every item i think i dont remeber tho im pretty sure you can tho.
POV RUclipsrs: I spent my whole life on 1 block hardcore💀💀
I love the pit!! Great movie man
24:58 43:10
Skyes - “Ew, god, a child”
*proceeds to end the child*
Looking at you trying to light that portal incorrectly is so painfull, great vid btw
This guy has good content and a cool voice just think of how much money he makes on RUclips views is unreal 😳🤯
3:49 why didn't Skyes just place the water and swim out instead of breaking the obsidian?
Watching you not make a furnace or cobblestone generator for 5 hours is bringing me intense mental stress
3:53 classic skyes moment, forgets he has a water bucket and just doesn't use it to on a swim animation.
Fun fact! (Or not so fun in your case) chickens that spawn with a rider don’t actually lay eggs. It’s to keep the surrounding mobs from picking them up and never de-spawning. So you’r like REALLY lucky to have gotten that other chicken.
I love your videos so much, i come home from school every day and watch them.
I love that i was awake to enjoy the pit!
