Maaaaaaaan, Good for you picking a song/video like this. Great choice. The beauty of Robert Hunter's lyrics is they are so fluid and cryptic that they lend themselves to mean different things to different people. Dead Head lore has it that someone in the crew dosed the coffee pot in the studio, so by the end of the taping of the show, everybody was flyin'. Except Hugh, he was prepared to not drink anything. If Mama Moon is digging the Mountains of the Moon vibe, she needs to look into Uncle John's Band, Ripple, Box of Rain or Black Peter, all from this same era. Need to work your way up to Dark Star and The Other One...
Amazing that the camera crew kept their shit together under the heavy influence and captured it nicely, not to mention the band (but they were a lot more used to it 😂)
Wow, you two went deep. Yeah, this piece of Americana should be in the Smithsonian, am I right? Two totally different scenes coming together. The squares dig it. Yeah, the keys are gorgeous. Beautiful song, nice react.
when they appeared on the playboy after dark show appear on a Hugh Hefner-hosted program called Playboy After Dark. Naturally, it being the Grateful Dead, things got totally out-of-hand, but everything wound up working out just fine. The January 18th, 1969 performance has become something of a legend in recent years, especially after Bill Kreutzmann’s telling of this story on Conan back in May 2015. As the legend goes, the Dead’s sound engineer/LSD synthesizer Owsley “Bear” Stanley slipped some of his homemade psychedelic concoction into the Playboy After Dark crew’s coffee supply, effectively dosing the entire staff for the late-night program.
Still trying to equate the relevancy of "Mountains of the Moon," in Africa (the source of the Nile River), the ancient Egyptian wings of Maat and Scarab beetles on the Aoxomoxoa album cover... It all seems a bit helter-skelter, to me...
Pigpen died from drinking(a drug, I suppose), Keith died in a car accident after leaving the band, Vince killed himself(poor guy), and Bruce is still out there playing. Brent died from a cocaine and morphine overdose. Wasn’t ALL substance abuse, but I still wouldn’t want to play keys for The Dead.
Very cool.....would you consider reacting to one of the best bands of our time in Alice In Chains....Like Rooster or Down in a Hole....Would or Man in the Box?
Always a blessing when you can bring a love one or a friend to the Dead.
Groovy brother! Keep doin the dead. It's the high point of my days.
I only got to see them 22 times.

Great to see Tom Constanten on keyboard, a true rarity. I got to meet Tom once, very humble and sincere. God bless Grateful Dead.

That was the nigjt that Osley "Bear " Stanley dosed the coffee pot with acid. Just about everyone there was trippn balls. Even Hue.
Better hold on to that merch.

The three joys of life, Love,
Pot, and the good ol Grateful Dead.

Tom got kicked out of the Dead, and he's the only keyboardist, not to die of drugs.

So funny, all those Playboy bimbos; no Deadheads in that audience. I read somewhere that someone tried to dose Hugh.
