I have ALWAYS been a fan of this style as well... slivers first... then UW control. My version uses lots of plainswalkers... Narset, Little Dovin, Little Gideon, and Little Tefferi (no Big Tefferi because I'm working on rotation)... I may sub out my Sabotage for your Absorb. I also use Agent which interacts well with Tefferi (bounce back+card) and Blink of an Eye... I took your advice and nixed the Negates of which I was running 4 copies on top of the 3x Sabotage... the deck took off after that. I also nixed Drawn From Dreams which I never felt I had the ability to use until very late in the game. Narset, Little Tefferi and Little Dovins ultimate seem to supply plenty of card advantage in addition to their passive benefits. Overall, awesome ... more of this please!

Not a fan of playing against control, but we can see how important a viable control deck is to the metagame. We see how it dismantled the Simic Flash deck (which is still pretty good and kind of oppressive during Standard Shakeup)
If jace is at 8 loyalty and you sacrifice him to use his final ability, he would no longer be on the battlefield so his first ability wouldn't trigger.
you are correct, it is a redundant ability, but the reason is like Charles said, if Jace dies in the process the passive disappears so it has to be part of the ability as well. You see the same thing on a few other planeswalkers, like Samut for example.
agreed, no reason to have cutthroat banned even in standard shakeup. Simic flash isn't built around it, it just fits well. My guess is they wanted to ban SOMETHING in the simic flash deck to attempt to "shake it up" and that just happened to be the one they chose.
Standard shakeup was the best format wizards has made in arena. Followed very closely by singleton. My biggest problem with the video is that the deck didnt lose. So salty.

Hi, it's been a long time i've been playing that deck, but i'd add 2 to 4 "Mobilized district" (u play no creatures and u might need them to protect your planeswalkers or yourself especially against creatures with haste); i also add 1 or 2 "The wanderer", he can exile a creature with 4 or more power,and his passive is excellent (preventing all non combat damages to you or all your permanents), and if you don't wanna play the 2 Teferi planeswalkers, "Dovin" can be a good choice (sustain, blockers and a big "Drawn for dreams")

you know, for an aggro/combo player it's really quite a feast to see a game of control from the perspective of a pure controlist like yourself. The desisions you have to make, what to leave up, when to counter, when to push for game. It's all a very delicate dance i love to see. Don't get me wrong, i still insta-scoop against a deck like this 2 turns in cause i've got no patience for that stuff. But i'll never not enjoy watching a control game from a control player perspective. Teaches me a lot about control as well!

I'm actually working on jeskai control last 2 days... put in chandra 6 so I can ping stuff that I couldn't counter... clarion for some early board clear... and electrodom is cool for pinging end step and getting something on the board... like niv... It's mostly blue-white tho so i approve :P
I dont hate blue white but it will always be the enemy of mtg to me. It's what I strive to beat. Without it that challenge wouldn't be there. Regardless liked and subscribed.

Nice to see you playing a game to the end instead of setting a bad example and wimping out with a scoop just cauise the first three turns didn't go your way. That's why I personally put at least one board wipe in even my aggro decks. Knpowing that there is still one card that can save me when I'm getting trounced keeps things interesting to the bitter end
ahhh, Arcane Denial... back when kids didn't care about opponents drawing extra cards as long as you counter their plays at all costs. good times. Power Sink was a sweet option too back in those days besides Denial, Force and OG Counterspell
Settle the wreckage will rotate out soon... I'm playing MTGA these days and see what kind of unbalance will rotate out soon and kinda smile. Still... I can't kinda find any deck I would like to play in modern as I like Golgari, and there is no interesting Golgari deck atm. Everyone's playing feather / monored (a good part of this nonsense will rotate out as well, fortunally) / simic flash / vampires (well, I liked the vampires, maybe will stick out to them).
I've ran into 5 people playing this exact deck over the course of a dozen or so games, or I never saw a different card at least. All of them in ranked standard bo1 lol. Won every game since I am piloting monogreen stompy. I have no idea whats going on, I never see UW unless its flyers normally.
Not countering the counterspell was such a misplay he has 3 cards in hands if you force him to use all his answers you had a full hand and draw spells.

Can someone explain jace’s -8? Doesn’t it just say draw 7 cards and then basically repeat his passive ability? Or am I reading it wrong

Back in ravnicas first block I built a nice w/u control. Called it my 5-0 deck cause it arrested everything.
