I know this is an old post, but yeah that's basically what happened. Take a look at every President of the United States on the day they were sworn in and compare it to the day they left office. One or two terms of that position will stress anyone so much that it will basically make them age more quickly than they otherwise would.
O_O that... was an amazing speech. It was powerful, he was calm, he's cool... I love him *-* lol not in that way though. I had heard about this speech, but I have never actually seen it. I really loved it ^^ glad you posted it!
Zeus's throne... 200,000 hear him speak... The world is changed forever... He stared fights no one could dream of finishing. I had to go back and remember, how it all began.
I'll assume that was a veracious source, but it only mentioned one weapon (including the ammunition) in one instance (i.e. the Bin Laden raid), it might be a bit of a stretch to claim from that observation that the Seals use only German weapons. Also, the guy you were responding to (Theunicorn4711) wasn't American, his profile indicated that he was Austrian, so I wouldn't let him leave an impression of Americans on you.
In the time when obama come to Berlin i was there with my schoolclass, and Obama drove past us... this was such amazing for me :) sorry for my bad english:D
Im from Germany and you can see on the Reactions of the People that we really like Obama...that Speech is already a historical Point and all he says is the damn Truth!Germany&America Friendship 4-Ever!For a better World hopefully!
I have never watched and listened to a speech lasting longer than 10 minutes and not want to fall asleep. This one just changed that. May the world see a better future with President Obama in the white house.
Can you cite where you got that information about the Seals? I don't necessarily doubt that it's true, but I couldn't find anything to corroborate that claim.
In this dark, dystopian America that we will have to suffer with for the next four years it is inspiring and comforting to hear the words of hope, fairness, and unity from a real president.
was there some sort of translator or subtitles on a screen or something? or do a lot of germans know english i cant tell you how ignorant i feel sometimes, speaking english
I was at the Mall yesterday when all the celebrities Barrak and Joe have all made a speech, It Was Amazing. People all over the US and the world coming together all for one good guy. It seems America might be able to return it's image of being a great Nation as it once did after WW2 before our politicians let that go to their head and all went buck wild.
Nocturnal Recluse What you aren't seeing is a man who has to lay the foundation that others can follow. Being the first ethnic President comes with a ton of baggage others simply didn't have to worry about. If he comes off too aggressive that could look a certain way and be taken out of context to mean he's far to emotional to be President and that would be it for a very long time for any thoughts of an ethnic President in the future. A lot is riding on his shoulders.
Lordcron Wow, Obama is a socialist. You can't be proud of this charlatan. What a anti-Constitutionalist you are. Join the International Workers Party already. Obama is the worst President in American History.
@Lintflas In case you didn't know we had a president that served over 12 years in office that was disabled and the last years of his presidency in a wheel chair. His name was Franklin D. Rosevelt.
+possumGFX Yes but English is your second language .. And Obama uses very complex English terms in his speeches so I'm curious if you guys understand everything he says
I cant speak for everybody but I personally don't think he is using complex terms. In the least even without understanding every word one gets the idea of what hes saying which is frankly enough for most situations.
I've been to Germany many times and most germans speak english as well as german. Hard for americans to grasp but thats common in many foreign countries.
Wow, you've got to be the most forgiving person ever to praise your dad for other good things he did when he failed at the most important thing: being your dad.
Jon Favreau. Official Director of Speechwriting, and Member of the White House since 2009. Obama also writes many of his speeches himself. Best wishes from Germany !
My ears are open thank you. I have been a registered voter for 14 years, witness to 4 Presidents and their administrations. I have family, friends and colleagues in the government and the military. My politics has gone from left to right and in between. There are things that I know that your anecdotal mind could barely grasp on to; no thanks to the one-sided media youre exposed to. So DONT go there you'll only lose. I love my country. I don't want to see her or its citizens lose any freedoms.
Hast recht. Schreib mich bitte an. Wäre gut wenn wir uns austauschen könnten
"I do not like what some people write about the Germans. Germany is a great nation and scince the beginning of WW2 the German population fought against the regime of Hitler!......We do not want the French to appologize for Napoleon, that is of course unthinkable!" I agree completely. I don't get all the Germany-bashing. I'm black but when I went to Germany I received nothing but smiles and hospitality. To be honest I was treated better in Germany than I am in a lot of places in America.
@Boostnitup That doesn't disqualify you though. Thomas Jefferson's mother was born in London. A parent born outside the US doesn't disqualify you. And what I was saying is that the German's had him speak. Berlin let him speak, he didn't need to be 'authorized' by anyone, this was during the campaign.
Yes i was born and live in the UK (a few hours from London) but i want to live in America and oneday i hopefully will live in America. i am currently studying the USCIS questions for the US Citizen Test that i will have to take to become a citizen of the United States. i know more about America than most Americans do and i support America more than most Americans do. i support USA in the World Cup and in the Olympics, i have an American flag out of my window, i follow the elections.
@EquinoxIV Yes I know, being Indian born in Germany, very proud to see something like that. But what is not known is, the struggle he went through during his initial days in deutsche bank to convince his close german colleagues that he is as good as or better than fellow germans. how do I know this? I worked for a extremely popular strategy consulting company which was consulting deutsche bank as well. Why did he work from London office and not frankfurt when he first came to ffm?
I'd love to see your source for that information. Care explaining to me how it's possible that one of the greatest factions in Germany are the Social-Democrats?
President Barack Obama may have been despised, insulted, mistreated, and looked down on while holding the office, but history will be kind to him and immortalize his as a historic and the first black president of the United States. I'm lucky to have lived in America through his administration, which in no way was perfect or devoid of controversies. Long Live Obama!
hey GreatReposter, i sense you are no fan of Obama - so my suggestion to you - get used to it - the next 8 years the rest of us will be living in hope and helping our new president change our country. You can stay on the sidelines and grumble or stand up and share good ideas on how to help this economy to get back up, that is what the rest of us are doing.
When i read some of the comments here in this thread, i was very disappointed. This speech teach us that we should hold together instead of hating each other. Appreciate someone is the way to racial freedom.Me as a german human being suppose that many of this german people in the video don't understand the message of barack obama.
Recessions do come and go. But according to you're state of mind, the government should just sit on it's ass and allow famine and devastation to occur. The stimulus money is lost but it was able to stabilize a downward spiral and without it we'd all be digging in dumpsters looking for food. 2000 was unlike this recession in which our currency is devalued, we've waisted billions in Iraq, and our higher paying jobs get outsourced to India.
@ElComandante027 I really admire your sense of being European - which I also share I don't think Germany needs to help Greece. I think that Greece should be kicked out the euro zone - however there is no mechanism to do that so I think the ECB ought to start finding a way of changing the rules!
"Aiyiyiyiyiyouooooo!"
This has to be the best crowd interaction with a someone who would become a president!
This might be the greatest speech given in the 00's! This speech will be in the historybooks!
Wow he looked so young . 8 years later he looks like he aged 15 years.
Probably from all that dong he's been eating.

One of the best speeches I've heard since MLK's march on Washington speech! Powerful, Unifying, and Thoughtful. Wow!
Germany loves you Barack! We would gladly accept a politician like you in our country.
O_O that... was an amazing speech. It was powerful, he was calm, he's cool... I love him *-* lol not in that way though. I had heard about this speech, but I have never actually seen it. I really loved it ^^ glad you posted it!
One of the greatest speech ive ever heard.
Wow... We probably won't get that much German love again.
Not anytime soon that's for sure. You know why? Because Germans see Obama as another George W. Bush. That's how I see him as well.
@@ZachTheRantingGuy Trolling to get a response a presume?
The crowds turned out not to see a Senator, but to protest President Bush.
Zeus's throne... 200,000 hear him speak... The world is changed forever... He stared fights no one could dream of finishing. I had to go back and remember, how it all began.
Germans love any man with powerful speeches. :)
Thank-you Berlin God Bless You 🙏 😍❤❤
i think this is an awsome and powerful speech deserving of a timelife collection lol

Man, the next 4 years will be packed with amazing and inspiring speeches. This will be great.

He is SUCH an amazing speaker!!
"this city... of all cities... knows the dream of freedom" He was so proud of this one xD
Great speech, great Man. I have a goose skin when listening to it:)

As an American, thank you Germany! The fact that you came out to support a foreigner seeking our Presidency is powerful to us.

I still give it to Clinton. Obama was just too timid to be the world leader. Not enough sand in his balls.
