Hiiiiiiiiiii!!! Speaking for myself, I am totally interested in what is going on over there and I really enjoy your vlogs. :) I am betting (and hoping) that there is a steep learning curve in the beginning and then, maybe not to far down the road, things will plateau for a while, like, learn a bunch of words, then learn how to use them a lot, then learn a bunch of new words, etc. But regardless, it seems from your videos like you are doing it - when it's hard, when it's exhausting, when it's emotional, lonely, exciting, fun, scary - you are over there and you are doing it!! And you should be proud of yourself. Yay you!!! xoxo
Sometimes ... schools teach you something more complicated or formal stuff compared to what we usually say in our daily conversations (I'm a native Japanese speaker with some American friends learning Japanese). I like your attitude trying to do better or harder, but, simply, learning languages takes time, so I hope you can find some time and energy for Animal Crossing (doubutu no mori??), handing out with your friends, enjoying your life in Japan! Keep up your good work!
I’ve just stumbled upon your channel and I really like your experiences right now that you’ve been having! I believe in you too! You’ll be able to achieve speaking Japanese!
Hello! Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for your honesty. I'll be studying at a Japanese Language school too and I've been feeling a lot of pressure. I've been watching vlogs and wondering why is everyone so damn good, I feel like I wouldn't be able to keep up! This video made me realize that we'll all struggle at first and it's okay. Thank youuuu!
Keep going sis ... Japanese may be hard sometimes but try some listening or watching something to make yourself want to understand them and got motivated;)
This is so relatable even though I haven't arrived in Japan yet.. I'm really nervous about the thought of being in class and being able to keep up.. I've definitely went out of class in the past to go have a lil cry in ze bathroom, so I feel you girlie😢😢❣️✨
I so relate to what you said in this, especially about not being the happiest and energetic while studying Japanese. I love studying Japanese but a month before I studied abroad at my summer school I failed my Japanese exam and while I was at my summer school in a Japanese University I found out I failed uni... I was crying all that day and skipped some of my lessons (i told them I was feeling sick). even though I pushed myself to complete this summer school (while struggling in the lowest class) I still had fun exploring around Kyoto. I also felt bad that my Japanese buddy was mainly speaking to me in Japanese, she could speak and understand the most English out of all my friend's Japanese buddies.
Hello, I just happened to watch your video. I can relate to the experience that you are going through now. When I was in Canada, at the very beginning, I didn't have any friends and stayed at a house mainly because of my horrible spoken English and I always thought I needed to do something to turn the situation around. Having said that, believe me. Things will go well at some point. Anyways, keep it real!!
Did you look into the Coto Japanese Language Academy? We are looking into schools right now for our son. We've looked into quite a few for the Fall. Coto seemed like a wonderful choice.....
Hey Sofie, i hope you are doing well! I am planning on studying in Japan and wanted to get a feel for how it is honestly being in your shoes. Im sorry it was such a struggle and i hope it turned out well for you! If you ever have time i would love to learm more about your experience and how everything turned out!
So I'm visiting Japan in a couple of months to check out language schools out there. Kyoto is def a top choice for me since I live it there so much. Can you tell me some pros and cons of the Nihongo center? I looking at that school plus a few others.
Hello! Good luck with your Japanese school! Definitely keep up with the videos. I had a question about Japanese schools. Do you save up the full amount it costs and then enrol or do you have a part time job in Japan?
Tons!! If you are a native English speaker then you can easily be a teacher. Otherwise you just need to know a little japanese and you can work in a kitchen, or something like that where you don’t have to talk to customers much
Do the teachers actually talk Japanese and English in class or is it all just Japanese??? I want to doit, but I have anxiety that I will not be able to keep up with the rest of the students and fall behind.... Any tips or advice to help???
Hey! At both of my schools the teachers never spoke English, only Japanese. But at the beginning, they used a lot of pictures to show what they were talking about, and we could follow along in a book with English translations of grammar points or vocab!
Thank you for sharing a very true and honest experience without sugar-coating it :) lots of love xx
