I don’t think it’s fair to say that all kids from that region turn into extremists. I can’t imagine the shia Muslims, yazidis, or Christian Syrians choosing to join the people who oppressed them. Also my heart bleeds for the Kashmiri Pandits who have to live with the trauma of being uprooted from their ancestral land never to return. The people responsible should be ashamed. The government of that time should be ashamed they didn’t do more to protect the rights of the Kashmiri pandits.

Kashmiri pandits celebrate Shivratri with great fervour as it's the biggest festival for them. I remember when I was a kid, I regularly used to visit my neighbours on Shivratri and I would eat there. Fish, lotus stem and soaked walnuts were mandatorily served on Shivratri.
