Nice restoration!! Just like new! A little trick to remove the scales of a Victorinopx without losing it's thigtness (not sure if i used the correct Word), it's to sumerge the knife in warm water and let it a few minutes, then the scales will comes out softer. You can use the same tick to out it on again!! 👍
Excellent results...it's got it's bright and shiny back and is ready to do what it was made for...can't ask for more than that....appreciate the vid on your project...Jim
Very nice job on this restoration, George! Doncha just love it when a mod actually works out the way you intend it to? I've lived in AK now for 35 years and it seems EVERYTHING that needs repair has to get modified. Nuthin' that gets sent to us through mail order parts works out. Ever. Oh the joys of livin' remotely! Anyway... I love how you don't mind just "diggin' in" and makin' it happen. You may take an old set of scales you don't really care about and try applying heat from a hair dryer, or heat gun if you keep it far enough away. Sometimes that works on restoring plastic to a smooth shiny surface. Works on scratched up ATV plastic body parts beautifully. And, just an FYI to help you out: Rostfrei could probably be pronounced "rust free", but with a Swiss accent heavy "O".
😊, I learned that the company is named after the founder’s mother and the German word for stainless steel (Inox). Her name was Victoria. The brand name was Registered as Victoria in 1909, and changed to Victorinox in 1921 when stainless steel was introduced.
Great job George ! I like that dremel holder 🤔 that’s good food thought . I use to restore old model car kits bout 20 30 years ago . Some wind shields ( also some real car gauge clusters lenses ) . I would wet sand ( 1500 2000 and depending on what I had on hand , higher grades) then I used a polish made by ‘NOVIS ‘ … I don’t know if it is still around . But that plastic would look like new! I built some model car kits with my girls and a couple foster kids we had ; that were molded in colors ( using the same polish - polished the bodies) ( mostly Monagram model car kits) … the color came out so beautiful that we only had to paint the interiors… Thanks for taking us along for the ride !
George, that came out great! I think you recently got one with a bent corkscrew and thought that may be it? Love your camera work and great lighting, thanks, Dave
Repurposing those scales saved you some money think the red looks better than the black anyway, I think the liners are an alloy probably aluminium nice useable knife now, good job George. 😁
George the new 84mm scales are for a Recrut. They sell new 84mm scales. I will look through a box of used scales for a set of 84mm scales. Changing the corkscrew for a Philips will make it a rare retired and more useful one-layer SAK.
Great idea and not too hard to do. I took the screwdriver off of a hiker and the brass pin was still long enough to reuse for the Waiter to apprentice mod. I carry it on my keychain in a leather lighter case everyday now
I saw a video where a man took a metal bottle cap and flattened it out with a hammed and punched a hole in the middle and put a shaft in the middle and then used it as a cutting wheel he was cutting plastic pipe with it, it worked pretty good he put in a drill to power it you could use a small bolt for the shaft thought was good idea Love your videos George
Waiter model ... I used it often when I made my own wine from 1995 - 2010. You know ... pull out the cork ... The key-ring is bullshit in my opinion and so I cut it off on all my sak´s. By the way, you can Rostfrei pronouncing like rostfry and yeah it means free of rost. The combi-tool is a bottle opener, a can opener, a flathaed screwdriveer and a phillips screwdriver if you use the tip. It works, but not very well.

I 6hink you right. Aluminum. Scales
Enjoyed your knife clean up and made my coffee as well. Slow hand sawing with a thin jig saw blade works on thin plastic for me. Thank you.
Lol...I looked at my jig blade was not good. It worked ok...lol.
You did a great job!
Thankyou
Food job. It looks great

Heh, the name Victorinox comes from the name Victoria and the word inox, so...
Yep. Read about that. His Mother's name and inox steel. Pretty cool
Great job
