I’ve watched a lot of your videos, and I really want to like you, but you’re so negative on these artists. “The track wasn’t this, the track wasn’t that” well that’s not what it was supposed to be. You can watch a horror movie and say well it wasn’t very funny, but why would you? Obviously that’s not that point of the movie. You criticize music from J Cole and say well it wasn’t very lyrical or philosophical, but why? That’s not the music he creates. He makes music that’s brutally real and honest. You don’t need extremely intricate lyrics to paint a vivid picture and convey a message that really makes the listener think. You also criticized the chorus in the song when obviously the intention of it was to hook that younger audience that he feels need to hear the song. This is a common trend I’ve seen in your videos regardless of the artist you’re discussing. You focus so much and what things aren’t and I can’t wrap my head around that. It just sounds a little ignorant on your part in my humble opinion. Overall I think you give really good reviews, but there’s a difference between noting when an artist does something poorly, and pulling at imaginary strings trying to nitpick songs.

That’s the dumbest critique I’ve ever heard. Literally EVERYTHING gets repetitive when you listen to it repeatedly
hitdoctor24 i’d have to disagree with you because their are songs where the more you listen, the better it gets. Take SRS by Earl Sweatshirt, at first those songs/samples caught me way off guard. After 5-10 listens I couldn’t stop listening. This was a mild effort by Cole. It literally was just False Prophets 2 to me.

It's a great way to music no only well sounding music, but presenting the aesthetic in a new way that Hip-Hop doesn't feel as dominated by specific flavours. (By that i mean the leading sub-genres).

Attacking Kanye is such an easy thing to do nowadays. It's low hanging fruit, but an easy way to get people talking about the song. I think he saw that with "false prophets" and decided to capitalize on it again after hanging with Drake this past few weeks. I like the other narratives though, being the "middle child" being big bro'd by superstars like Jay z and passing down knowledge to the younger generation like lil pump and etc.

It sounds like a producer used the cheapest default setting autotune processor and just turned it down to 50% during the verses. WHY IS COLE USING AUTOTUNE???
He used some Autotune for the effect in some of his old mixtapes
This isn’t the channel if you want a proper review. Melon got the song wrong, middle child is talking about him being the goat of this generation after studying goats from the last era, he’s passing knowledge down to the younger dudes. Middle child. The auto tune is almost like a shout-out per se to the newer generation. There’s a lot more to the song than melon could find.

I feel like the difference between Cole and other lyrical/conscious artists is that Cole tries to understand the newer generation of hip hop while the rest generally write them off.
