Hi, in Maths Made easy, the answer to the use of HCL is to stop mitosis from occurring, but here it says to soften the tissue, which one would i write in the exam?
Thank you for the amazing video! The informations were very clear and easy to understand. I am taking the exam next month, I am homeschooled, so I don’t have the opportunity to do the experiment hands on so I am very thankful for the helpful information 😊
For calculating the mitotic index, should my answer always be 2dp (2 decimal places) or will I get how many decimal places or significant figures are needed in the question?
do you also need to macerate the root tip end do create a single layer of cells so the light from the optical microscope can pass through? thanks also video was v good :)
For this practical when we're calculating mitotic index, in the video you mention it's a percentage. However, when we did a mock I didn't get a mark when I times by x100. For mitotic index do we x100?
Thank u so much for these vids Miss - honestly invaluable for my A Level Biology x
So glad! Hope this helps with the practical 😊

Both are options in the markscheme. Either answer will get you a mark.

You are so welcome!!! Best of luck with the exam
Thankyou miss your videos are the best!
Thank you 😊 So glad you find them helpful!
why do we grow the garlic in the dark? Thank you for your amazing lessons!
If you can see two nuclei in the cell (indicating telophase (?)), do you include these in the mitotic index please?
Single handedly Carrying us
☺️☺️

If its not specified in the question then 2dp is a good standard
@@MissEstruchBiology Thank you for letting me know :)
Honestly so helpful
Hi miss, what is the concentration of HCL used when placing the root tip in a water bath? Thank you
2cm3 volume .. u can choose whatever conc
do you also need to macerate the root tip end do create a single layer of cells so the light from the optical microscope can pass through? thanks also video was v good :)
Yes 😊
I have a question which I have been stuck on for ages. Hi would you draw a results table?
Is there a specific reason that garlic or onion needs to be used?
Hi please i need more risk assessment for this practical please
For this practical when we're calculating mitotic index, in the video you mention it's a percentage. However, when we did a mock I didn't get a mark when I times by x100.
For mitotic index do we x100?
Sometimes they require it as a percentage, but sometimes remain as a decimal. The units given should indicate this
@@MissEstruchBiology thank you 🙏it was 2022 paper 3 on the ms it said reject percentage
thanks a lot miss!
you're welcome 😊
Maam in the practical paper will we only have the practicals given in our separate biology lab book? ( I'm studying edexcel AS level)
Nope, there would be additional questions beyond the core practical.
@@thriyampakandhivyakrishnan2434 Thankyouu!
Hi there! What's the concentration of a hydrochloric acid?
Hey, you don't need to know that for the exam
@@MissEstruchBiology Just wondering so that I can do the experiment myself please
What is the concentration of HCl ?
Hydro chloride
Thank you😀
You're welcome welcome 😀
In an exam should we multiply the mitotic index by 100 or not?
no,unless it states give as a percentage
Can u do unit 3 calibration maths plss
I'm not sure what that is.Is that Biology AQA?
@@MissEstruchBiology yeah
Tysm
you're welcome 😊 Hope it's helpful
