Other than the eventual outcome, the best part of this clip is not having to listen to Mary Carillo's endless platitudes of Davenport and her relentless criticisms of Serena!
An incredible match from 2 incredible players. This was a very important victory for Serena after losing some close matches in 2001. This was the start of her 1st peak. Davenport's talent deserved more than 3 slams. She was unfortunate to play in such a tough era.
@akizaizinskii Learn to show some respect. Why would you address a legend like that? Even though her movement was terrible, her shot making and serve was incredible. She won 3 slams, by beating some incredibly talented players. She was just unfortunate the field was so deep and athletic in the 2000s. Don't forget she came very close to winning 2005 Wimbledon.
@@akizaizinskiithree slams, Olympic gold, 55 titles, won nearly everything there was to win outside of clay. She would have won in any era. If a Venus who was a shadow of herself could win matches in 2023 age 43 you don’t think peak Davenport would have won in this era?
The single most incredible matchpoint in professional tennis ever. No one should've gotten that return in play. No one should've gotten the subsequent shot after that. DRA. MA.
@@akizaizinskii So was Serena also fortunate in her other 9 victories against Davenport? And did some line calls not go against Serena in this match and other matches in her career?
Got lucky? It takes more than this fake lucky you speak of! Serena showed her power and athleticism and therefore deserved to win! Her footwork on match point says it all. Lindsay was throwing everything at her but she pulled it off and hit that AMAZING WINNER! Not even Lindsay could do that 😂😂😂
@@23Echeoand let’s not forget the mental fortitude it took to close it out, especially starting the set up 3-0. She knew Lindsay would fight and could possibly win and she TOOK IT!
@@charlesncharj especially since she lost the year before to Lindsay in 2000! She wanted her revenge!! Watching it over is amazing. Speed, athleticism, amazing serving and winner on match point 😎😎😎

Davenport was a slow, unathletic cow who couldn’t move. She would not have won a Slam in the 2010s or 2020s.

Davenport would dominate this 2010 2020 weak era for sure she was one of the best in 1995ish 2008ish
@@GudoonsheGudoomiye I’m just imagining her playing some slam winners such as Vondrousova, Ostapenko, Kenin and Muguruza 😂

A masterpiece❤
I'm sure I watched this match back in the day. I used to watch all the matches of Venus and Serena, and Lindsay was one of my favorite players also.
Wow an amazing way to play from both Serena and Lindsey. Lindsey keeping her cool and Serena always fighting each ball, what a privilege to watch
Serena od początku kariery została moją nr 1 tenisa po Steffi Graf..brawa za filmik.. Pozdrawiam serdecznie 🖐️🎾🎈🇺🇲🎾🎈🇺🇲🎾🎈😎🇵🇱
The call in 13:28 is ridiculous.
S E R E N A 🔥🔥🔥
Serena got lucky. Lindsay was utterly robbed by several wrong line calls on big moments in this match.
