The way he shouts "YOU'VE GOT IT!" is really nothing short of iconic
That voice is perfect, I could listen to this story over and over just for the voice.
it scared the shit outta me the first time i heard it
Same here, I jumped in fright
@@Hollowficatiionme too I was a young kid and our great grandma would tell us this story but at the end she would grab one of us. Good memories thinking back but kind of scary then. I still miss her and she died in 1988 at age 93
we're just going to ignore the fact that they performed cannibalism
BioHazard4234 I think they thought it was a potato so they ate it by mistake
BioHazard4234 right
Ha.
It's a small matter.
The story derives from a old German folk tale. The boy and his family are poor and starving, that’s why they ate the toe.
Serves them right for putting a toe in the soup. Everybody knows the proper way to cook a toe is deep frying.
what u mean ?
Aloe Vera? Why don't you edit your comment? Click on the three dots and choose edit. Make your corrections and send it. It's obvious that you meant a toe and not aloe, I hope!
Good for you! You have edited your comment! That was fast! By the way, you're most welcome.
Heh heh "serves" them right lol soup
Lmao
The illustrations in this book are still nightmare fuel to this day
Almost scarier than the story itself.
Weak
I'm 30 years old, why is this scaring the crap outta me!?
Nesto Navalo don't worry you're not alone
I showed this to my 13 yo sister.
She was fine with it
Because you're a bitch?
😂😂😂
So like my sis had a book with all these scary stories wirh
My teacher in 2nd grade used to read these stories to us. Scared the living hell out of me. I never could believe that a teacher would read those kind of stories to such young children. They are kind of spooky. She was one of my favorite teachers though.
+Chevy Man wow my second grade teacher also used to read us these stories, have you heard the green ribbon story.
Same😂😂😂😂
Hey, she held your attention, didn’t she?
@Elizabeth Poston yoooo I watched this video 3 fucking years ago. WOOOOOOOOOW.
Yup same here. I owned all 3 books when I was just 6 or 7 years old in the early 90s. We had copies on our school libraries, teachers read them, everyone loved them but they were scary as fuck! These days, teachers would never be aloud to read this shit to their students. Groups have tried to get the books banned from schools
I love how casual and nonchalant the author is describing the family eating the toe.
This actually haunted me as a kid...my sisters found out I read it and every night they'll say "where is my toe" I honestly never recovered😪🙄
You sound like you had a pretty cool sister
😂🤣
Siblings am I right
Anybody else yelp or jump when the voice at the end screams:
"YOU'VE GOT IT!!!"
?
It reminds me of a game show host…
Man:where is my toe
Me *loads shotgun*
Man:Nevermind
😂 lol
LOL
I am 66 yrs. old and as far back as I can remember my mom told us that story, I always thought she made it up her self.
I’m roflmao at 59, my grandma told us a different version. It was a bear, this the eating. Rather than think they are a human toe...I’ll stay with bear!
It's the first time I hear it haha I'm from Brazil
I heard this from my grandmother growing up too (I'm 36). Eastern Kentucky.
you are now 75 years old
I remember reading this story of 4th grade I loved this story 😂
Same XD
LPS bluesparkle i am 5th and am kinda scare
i also know about lps XD
Ikr
Me in fifth
When I was told this story as a kid the man who dug the toe up thought it was a potato.
That wasn’t the worst part, when the ending came I jumped up @
“You’ve got it!”
"Look ma, a toe!"
"oh happy fucking day. lets eat it, shall we?"
SURE. WHY THE FUCK NOT.
They could have ended the story right there, honestly.
Apparently, they are gonna make movies about these stories
Apparently, they didn't happen :( lol
Where they @ ):
Apparently I’m still waiting.
@@manuelalfaro4039 coming in Aug 9
The trailers are out
Im fifty-three yrs old & i remember my 2nd & 3rd grade class watching this story on the screen from the projector. #Awesome
I knew nothing about these books until I saw the movie. That was one scary scene for sure.
Can't wait for the movie. I have the original book in my collection.
*Core memory:* My uncle had these books and this narration cassette when I was a doofy little kid. I listened to this story first (with headphones on). Right when it got to the scary part, when the narrator shouts, “YOU’VE GOT IT!” - my uncle snuck behind me, grabbed me, and scared the shit out of me. It was impactful. The end.
Man: Where is my tooooeeeee?
(Shoots a glare and points at me)
Man: YOU'VE GOT IT!
Me: (Awkwardly) Sorry, Dude, my bad. But you'll have to wait a while if you want it back....
Ha.
Oh God 😂
Damn i honestly dont think the monster or whatever can even reply to that one like thats a solid answer..... Also who in the hell eats a damn toe!?!?
"YOU KEEP IT!"
*poops it out* here's your toe sir
This specific story brings back such great memories from when I was around 4. My mom, younger brother, and I used to read this story everyday. I remember this story word for word, so vividly ahh just such good memories.
This story freaked me out when I was 6 and it still creeps me out lol
Why the heck would you eat that toe!
i love this narrator lol
I haven't read this book since like 2nd grade and i used to be terrified of it and with how he reads it I got chills again XD
I wonder what he did to make him sound like a ghost very creepy lol
Fr
Man: Where is my toooooeee? Me: Cheeeck the end of your fooooooot! I know a lot of people on this site found this scary, but this story had the exact opposite effect on me when I was a kid: I laughed.
moshomaniac1 kfhrj r
moshomaniac1 jdjrjf
Oh...Kay.
moshomaniac1 if I was the boy in the story I would tell the ghost one toe is enough
*If you want an additional laugh, I found this one other comment. Picture this being recited in the narrator’s voice...*
Some dude's car broke down in the middle of the highway. He called for a tow truck. But it was taking forever to get there. He called the driver.
"Where is my tow?"
"I'll be there in 15 minutes."
Then, thirty minutes later, he called again.
"WHERE IS MY TOW?!"
the story is so much scary with the music
Its scared the shit out of me when the narrator screamed you've got it!
Glad it’s being made into a movie
this is kind of sad because that little boy was kinda cute :(
i dont understand why he has to get eaten alive by a giant beast just because hes a poor starving hungry boy and hes just like 5 years old and cute so the author has some sick mind
Gamzee Makara
The family eat another human being....sooo yeah.....
My grandmother told this story in the best scary voice. We rarely made it past the first few stairs- she would count them out one at a time and it was so scary. 😍 Thank you for sharing this!
these books sound scary so far i always loved creepy campfire stories ever sense i was little i remember id always collect goosebump books and these look verycool from the titles alone
My grandma and grandpa used to tell me this story all the time when I was little....used to scare the hell out of me. Man, really brings back some memories.
they...they ate a TOE?! DISGUSTING
Yep..
The family thought it was a potato, so they each had a piece, with a bowl of soup
squidward: look at that edible garbage, it's disgusting, their sickening, I hate severed toes
spongebob: bahahhaha, good one squidward
A lot of people say the boy was eaten after this, but I always imagined the corpse just ripped the boys toe off his foot as payback and went back to its grave
Who else thinks the narrator makes it scarier
It's called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark as told by Alvin Shwartz. There are three books in the series.
So how’s life?
This used to genuinely scare the shit outta me when i was younger i still remember my mom reading this to me saying where is my toe
I remember when I was in 6th grade 2 years ago and my teacher played this around Halloween, it was creepy asfff
I am in 6th grade and just found out about it like yesterday
I remember this as a child they played the audio in my car and I got so scared I cried
So glad it made it into the movie
My mom read these to me as a kid. Goddamn I feel the nostalgia already.
The name of the narrator is Otis Jiry. He's the original narrator for all the stories from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark collection.
Ahhhhhh the endless sleepless memories I had with these book.
And now there making a movie out of the books.... lovely.
This is so cool I’m 55 years old and can remember my great grandmother telling us kids this story. I thought she made it up lol
George S. Irving was born to tell scary stories!
I wonder how they'll interpret this in the new film. Looks like one of the stories will be about the toe.
Did anyone else’s grandparents listen to these stories on cassette??
The mom should have been scared that the little boy brought in a human toe into the house but instead she had to cook it and eat it
Yep, the family thought it was a potato, so they ate the corpse’s toe
That's gross. I can't believe they ate the toe
the family was originally supposed to be very poor and hungry and had nothing to eat
In times of famine, people were desperate
//Brov man SkullGothic
The movie's scene is scarier imo
Wtf who eats a toe gross! 😷
In elementary school, my music teacher would tell us this story every Halloween.
I remember listening to this in 3rd grade and reading the books lol
Wow... I have much to say but the little I will say is that this narrator is second to none.
I play this at night to keep my kids in bed 💀😂
Awesome storytelling! My 7 year old son loves this!
I hope “The Big Toe” isn’t too scary for your son
“YOU’VE GOT IT!!!”
I died
😱
This audiobook traumatized me when I was little. It's still pretty creepy, even coming back to it.😂
This story scarred me as a kid
man i love these stories
This is my favorite scary story
Does this remind anyone else of "Tailypo"?
Yes, oh so much. The big toe and Tailypo were the first scary stories I ever heard.
I had nightmares about this stuff when I was little. my teacher always scared the hell out of us.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark??
I read these bangers in about 1988, all these years later - all 4 of my kids hear them too 😂
There is a movie trailer for this already, scary AF.
Listened to this story while eating turkey sausage bites.
Round. Small. And about the right shape to create a displeasing sensory experience.
1:05
me when I stub my toe
I loved reading these stories, even the school library teachers told me "Why are you reading such scary stories". I just love reading them, they don't scare me
I haven't heard this story since I was a child and I'm 52 years old now. awesome that someone remembered it and put it here
These illustrations ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
My sister and i would have a blast with these stories when we were younger :)
If someone ate my toe I’d probably be pretty pissed about it too
My grandmother used to tell me her version of this story as a child. Scared me witless some nights. Good times.
wow i love the scary stories
2:52
This is comedy gold…
Honestly this is making me hungry
I read this story in 4th grade and 5 years later I’m watching this and Denver my old child hood 🤗
Lol all of my little siblings are terrified of this and they will scream bloody murder if I dare say “the big toe”
I know the feeling
I had the book when I was younger and this was my favorite one by far
I had this story (and all the volumes) on tape. I listened to it on a dare in the dark on my walkman and nearly scared the crap out of myself.haha good times.
i am 8 years old and this is still so Creepy
narrator went off on this one
Holy moly, I recognize the voice. It's none other than Heat Miser! From "The Year Without a Santa Claus". Love it.
I had a substitute teacher back in elementary school who would always read us ghost stories from a book whenever she would fill in for our regular teacher, and this was one of them. She did the voice exactly like the guy in the recording. It must tell you to read it that way in the book.
Impressive, but horrifying
There is another version where an old woman who lives in isolation finds the toe in her vegetable garden. I prefer that version because she lives all by herself which is even more scarier.
I imagine the family of "Honey Boo Boo" would take no issue with such a meal.
Son:comes home with a disgust human toe
Mom:dinner time!
my version of comment
kid: *casually brings toe in*
mom: understandable, have a nice day, we'll eat the toe in our stew
the monster: so you have chosen death?
This story legit gave me nightmares as a child
Good, I haven't heard that story in years.
The fact this was made 11 years ago-
I remember getting mad scared at this
My question is "Why the duck did they eat a piece of man?"
this story creeped me out as a child, but now i realize.... WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF FAMILY EATS SOMETHING LIKE A TOE?!
I don't know how many times I heard this as a kid growing up. These were the best stories for children before they went to bed. Just tell them this story at night time and afterwards let them fall asleep. I know I am very cruel.
My friend always played this song through the mic on the xbox 2 years ago. Ah good times :')
When I Was In 6th Grade My School Librarian Threw A Halloween Party And She Ready Everyone This Story In The Book Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark And It Scared Me.
Yes! My Librarian took a string of white Christmas lights and put them in a pile with red, yellow, and orange tissue paper over it to make a campfire. 😂
Ok... this family is creepier than the zombie owner of the toe.
This is Armie Hammer's favorite story
The Way Hes Say "Where Is My To-o-o-o-o-e" Sounds LIke KIng Ramsay In Courage The Couardly dog
