10 tips I took away from this great book:
1. Love it or lose it!
2. Go by category, not by room
3. Choose what to keep, not what to get rid of
4. Thank items for their service or what they've taught you
5. Make space for new things in your life by letting go of the old
6. Clothes: Gather everything in the house in one place and eliminate all clothes you don't love
7. Books: If you haven't read it, its purpose was to teach you you didn't need it
8. Papers: Don't keep most of them, and avoid complex filing systems!
9. Gym doodads: Thank them for the boost they gave you when you bought them, then give away
10. Animism: Shinto philosophy emphasizes the energy contained in the objects we own
totally inspirational! I was able to go through my hanging jewery and one of my jewelry boxes today and got rid of a whole grocery bag of costume, bead and shell jewelry. I still have another jewelry box to go. Thank you!
What you kept is lovely.
I loved the stories you shared about your grandparents. Very interesting!
lightly lumay Thanks for watching, your video was helpful to me before I made this one! Still have to sell some of these pieces though...
Alexa Weber Morales Thank you. It's wonderful how we are all inspiring each other. The artistic beauty of your home has inspired me to think about adding some art to my walls.
I hear you! I'm still trying to sell my yarn and some of my electronics items. I need to make a deadline and then donate the stuff.
I believe your family is very special. There are interesting stories behind them. I loved it when i saw your great-grandfather's selfmade jewelry. It is one of a kind. And that your grandmother was a journalist. You don't hear that every day.
Thank you! I miss my grandma.
I bet you do. They are very special.
I love the jewelry and all of the stories behind everything. So interesting. I need to declutter and organize my own jewelry. I really enjoyed this video. ✨💖✨
Thank you Cassandra! You have a beautiful name!
Alexa Weber Morales Thank you. 😊
You have such beautiful jewelry Alexa. And you did an amazing job of decluttering it too. I love the little ring with the flowers that you had fixed. You mentioned your grandparents and they sound like such interesting people. I wish I could talk to them. I have a feeling I would have really liked them. Do you think you might ever be interested in doing a video speaking about your family or about your grandparents?
+Susan Schafer It's a crazy family... might have to save that one for the biographers. Interesting request, though! Thanks!
Love the copper ring you have and that pearlescent pin. I love vintage finds like that.
New subbie! I'm in the process of a total cleanout with this method but stuck on my jewelry. Thanks for this! Everything looks great!
Vicki
+dizzyk54 Hi Vicki, well, I still have a lot of the jewelry separated out and awaiting sale or maybe Xmas gifts to others :-) Good luck!
Wow you really went from Konmari to minimalism.......I have like 80 pair of earings, about 40 necklaces + like 20 chains, 50 bracelets aprox, 20 rings, etc.....
Today is my 3rd day decluttering (polishing).
This is overwhelming, because I'm kind of discovering so much jewelry I had like hidden in boxes!!
Haven't even started with what I'm keeping! 🤤😮
Hi great job! Yes sell the entire box as one. As far as that big bulky bracelet take it to an antique jewler
Love the stories behind every piece ♥
I have polished up my favorite pieces and and eliminated the rest, going from two jewelry boxes down to one! I'm eager for suggestions on the best way to sell the jewelry and beads I decluttered...
If you’re still looking for an easy place to sell your jewelry (and just about anything), try Facebook Marketplace. Its a mix of new and used things and I shop on there a lot. I may try selling some of my things there, if I ever finish a “joy sparking” category. I first started on
jewelry but stopped in the middle to start something else. (I may or may not have a little ADD going on!)🤣Daytime pick up in a local public parking lot is pretty common. Ask buyer to bring exact cash. Ask a friend or spouse to go along. I’ve never had a problem. Good luck!)
I definitely noticed that craigslist has fallen off a bit and I have tried looking on Facebook marketplace but I never had much luck. And I still do manage to give away things via craigslist. eBay was good for the high-value items but their fees are exorbitant.
Your products are so good !
Alexa ! What did you do with that bulky sterling silver bracelet that was in the decluttered box that you were going to try to sell ? If it belonged to your grandmother there is a pretty good chance that it is a bracelet by the designer Antonio Pineda. Check it for the stamp if you still have it and PLEASE let me know ! I'd be very interested to know the fate of that bracelet !!!!
OMG +Shayna Weeden you are right! The mark is a little rubbed out but it is by him (the crown stamp from 1953)! What do I do?! It's my own Antiques Roadshow experience!
the flower necklace is gorgeous. have you sold it yet?
Hi +Shayna Weeden, I still have it ... it is made in Mexico with a traditional "Hecho en Mexico" stamp.
Thanks for the tips, Susan Velez! I signed up for eBay... baby steps...
Love your shirt!
Thank you!
Thank you! The silver bracelet looks valuable. I love the way you arranged your jewelry box. The lions head belt buckle is so cool.
Reason I say take it to jewlery is because it has a closure with a chain. Those are antiques!
Can you pawn some of the silver pieces, such as the heavy silver bracelet.
Claire Germain Nail Yeah I am going to look into that, my mom had success selling some jewelry to a pawn shop or a jeweler, not sure which.
Thank you again MySimpleLife❤, I will look into selling it on eBay!
For anyone who is interested, I have listed the vintage Antonio Pineda bracelet on eBay here: www.ebay.com/itm/181944626658
I think if you tucked your hair behind your ear on one side only, wore the snake earring in that ear and a tiny stud in the other would look smashing for a gig or clubbing!
You are so right, not everything has to be matchy-matchy!
I would also sell on eBay not Craigslist

Your vintage products are so beautiful.
+Mark Lin Thank you!

No story on a second drawer ? :)))
Nice
I think you don't need to follow the KonMarimethod exactly as it is,especially with jewellery. There are traps-mistakes that can happen,it depends on the mood you are at the specific time.I saw some expensive vintage pieces and silver ones.In Europe some of the pieces can cost from 25-60 euros.Be careful with e-bay.Good luck.
konstantina poulenidis Oh, definitely, I have realized that. However it is very good at getting you around the opposite traps of keeping too many things, because it simplifies the choice of keeping to one criterion.
