S1 - Ep 131 - Nieuwoudtville lies on the Bokkeveld Escarpment in the Northern Cape!

- On leaving Vanrhynsdorp we took the road toward Nieuwoudtville, a small town which lies on top of the Bokkeveld Escarpment in the Northern Cape. BUT, to reach this town you have to go up Van Rhyns Pass. We experienced the most amazing views of the Knersvlakte (“Gnashing Plains”) from the top of this pass. We tried our best to get into the Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve with no luck. Actually, this was a blessing in disguise because after visiting the Hantam Botanical Gardens we found out about the Glacial Pavement. This was a phenomenal place to visit. To see the marks gouged out in the sandstone by the moving glacier millions of years ago was awe-inspiring. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #nieuwoudtville #bokkeveld #glacialpavement #vanrhynspass

I let my neighbor, old tannie of 89 watch your video, she start crying of old fond memories. She stayed almost 70 years in the town and was the matron in the hostel of the local school. As a widow she moved to Pietersburg to stay with her sister....

You should have brought your drone out; apparently, the glacial pavement is 300 metres long. Nice views from the top!
